I highly doubt that.

I have no idea how Phes designed the Classic-Pirates blog.

I'll look into that.

I'm no web developer, but if I click on my profile, the URL includes the .php suffix. So I assume that the Classic Pirates blog has access to EB's PHP member database, and whenever someone logs in to post a comment there, it can edit the information in the database.

I was wondering, (sorry if this is technical Kim) do our comments go into our EB post count like they do with the classic-pirates blog?

CF

I think you are confusing the blog and forum, you can't actually comment on the post on the blog, you click the link and it brings you to a thread in the pirate forum which is part of eurobricks.

I was always under the impression that the Classic Pirates forum was designed by a professional company. As said in the link at the bottom of the page it was designed by Hotwebsites. They more than likely have the technology and knowhow to do such things.

Sorry but it's a no go.

No comments on the classic-pirates blog count towards your Eurobricks post count.

But let's keep in mind that the Forum part of Classic-Pirates.com is hosted on Eurobricks and as such part of Eurobricks. That must be what lead to the confusion.

Mister Phes is responsible for the actual design of the skin and layout of the classic-pirates.com blog. I do believe his actual job is in the web design area. He might work for hotwebsites, I'm actually not sure who he works for.

It's not really about the "ability" to, becasue it can't. A seperate website can't increase a post number on a forum unless there was code set up under an admin account to alter said post count, which would never happen and I'm not even sure it could be done.

Or like mentioned before, have the blog be able to somehoe read and update the forum, which I also think it can't do.

Thirdly, this isnt happening at Classic-pirates.com anyway, everything gets linked back to the pirates forum which is a part of the EB forum.

Now back to our regulary scheduled Star Wars discussion.

I suppose. I just always loved this skin- Star Warsy but simple and it isn't garish or distracting.

Yeah, it isn't garish at all, but it would be cool to have a change, something new for the blog. :sweet:

Yeah sorry, I confused the Pirate forum for the pirate blog.

Never mind about my post count question.....stupid cf

Nice blog!

If you need any help with it, just ask or send me a PM.

Is it a coincidence that you used the same theme as my blog...? I think not!

Good luck and I subscribed

Thanks and this is actually our 3rd or 4th theme.

We're testing different ones to find what suits us the best.

Hopefully we'll end up with a designed skin.

But that's all in the future.

For those who think that the blog isn't article-ish enough, let me remind you that the blog is meant as kind of a frontpage of our own.

The bloggers add stuff from the forum and what they think might be stuff of interest when Star Wars LEGO is the audience's hobby and interest.

Keep that feedback coming - your ideas, concerns and thoughts is what should define the blog.

If you haven't been there/bookmarked it or subscribed yet, then go there now

Blog looks great! I find it funny that you used the same theme as our blog.

Keep up the good work.

Read above post.

Since this forum's skin is DS-themed, why don't you do the blog as a sort of a prelude in a Yavin IV theme? I've always liked Wookieepedia's skin, with the Coruscant skyline across the top. Some quick PS work gets you a Yavin IV skyline in LEGO, and then it can fade to black further down the page.

I was kind of thinking of a sort of blended timeline, with main charecters of each episode in front of a sceane from the episode. I could do up a quick design for a better idea of what I mean if you like.

I know what you mean, but I think that stands out too much. More of a banner than a skin. The skin should be somewhat monochromatic.

I thought we were talking about the banner default_laugh_new.gif

In that case, I'm not sure. There's likely plenty of options, but I can't think of any right now.

So...

Any plans to further change the look of the blog?

I like the look of the smudged paper by itself, but not as a background for a sci-fi site. I'm thinking it needs a nice banner with some holographic Aurebesh writing.

That's a great idea- if only because I've learnt Aurebesh recently. In fact, the skin could look something like a Coruscant downtown, with the banner being a sign.

We're still working on the skin.

I've added a few widgets to the block to ease your use of it.

First there's now an RSS feed on the Eurobricks Frontpage so you wont miss anything important should you decide to use EurobricksStarWarsForum.com as your portal to your daily dose of EB.

At the bottom of the widgets, I've added thumb links to the 2011 News Index, MOC Index, Review Index and .pdf Index.

There's also a sign-up possibility to keep you guys updated on the news posted on the blog.

There's a category list, a forum flickr list and a direct link to our forum.

So how about it?

Anything else you guys need there?

The new elements in the blog are very fine additions indeed, great to have useful links included there. Just a simple suggestion though, how about a small "Blogged" image every time you blog a certain topic? Like classictown.net's. (but I guess the graphics would have to be in-tune with the upcoming skin of the blog)

So I was thinking, we have two other portals to EB named Classic-Pirates and Classic-Town, and there exist two huge sites called Classic Castle and Classic Space. And we have a Star Wars line that's come so far through so many changes, that any set before 2004 is now considered a classic set. So obviously, we need a Classic Star Wars blog! Not to act as the only portal for this forum just yet, because CW fans wouldn't be so happy, but as a supplement. (PT fans would of course be included, because this is Classic LEGO Star Wars and not Classic Star Wars as in OT stuff; there was plenty of PT to be found before '05)

I like the idea, but wouldn't it be alot more work to set up and maintain? At least it would be a safe haven to be your OT self- are you thinking only older sets, or classic as in OT?

Like I said, older sets. It wouldn't discriminate against any MOCs or anything, but it would emphasize things like yellow headed SW minifigs. I mean, Classic-Town serves as a portal for a forum that caters to City fans, and they sometimes blog stuff that isn't Classic Town. (like the Expand the Winter Village Contest)
