I think it may be better if you unpinned the 2010 news topic and pinned back the Rumors thread and rename it "Lego Star Wars 2010" cause all the stuff in the News topic is the same as the first post in the rumors thread.

Just my two cents

Which is exactly the point.

A news topic without all the chit-chat.

I suggest you "subscribe" to said topic - that way it'll never be "lost".

I've added an announcement topic - which is clearly seperated from the rest of the topics.

In there you'll find speedlinks to your favorite topics.

And since everything opens in the same window, then your favorite topics are no more than 2 clicks away instead of 1.

How's that?

Much better, thanks Kim. default_classic.gif I noticed it right away, and it has all of the important topics.

Super.

That's exactly what I was aiming at.

In time I'll change the title of it, but the idea is to keep an announcement with speedlinks for important topics.

Let me know if anything is missing, but bear in mind that we have to keep it short and with only the top-notch topics.

Kim its perfect now, I think the pinned topics are good topics to be pinned and the announcement works perfectly.

I'm happy the 2010 rumor thread is un-pinned,it didn't really deserve it in my opinion, especially with how busy that thread is.

Yeah that's what I thought as well.

I am seriously considering to skip all pinned topics and just let them be accessible (?) through the announcement links.

That's not a bad idea, its like one stop shopping.

The forum would look so clean that way.

That is great now, absolutly perfect and that topic will help to find everything importantish. I would leave the remaining pinned topics still. However if you do it will be ok as we do have that new and marvellous topic. happy0065.gif

That's better although I think you could be able to get rid of the Red Vader Helmet discussion thread cause I dont think that been bought up in ages.

Yeah and it's already in the Star Wars Forum Index.

I've deleted some of the links in the announcement and added a little description to each topic.

How does it look and feel to you guys now?

I think it looks great. Although I was never really agaisnt any previous views in the past couple days.

It does look very organized now.

I'd really like to comment on contest entries, the topic on Stormtrooper torsos and stuff like that.

But today everything's "dead"... :sceptic:

flickr - unavailable

yahoo - same

hotmail - same

brickshelf - same

and so goes for a whole bunch of sites - perhaps my internetprovider is suffering an attack on their servers?

I guess you're right. Don't know another explication ... My Brickshelf works fine so do the other sites you listed. Hope you are able to solve this problem till the vote begins.

Seeing the titles of all those great entrys but not the pictures must be a terrible torture.

Hang on!

Today I've been foolin' around on flickr.

And since our own gallery here on EB doesn't allow very large pictures, I've created an account and a picture set named 2010 Pictures.

You can find my sets and photostream here

I've also created 2 groups.

One for MOC'ers and their work posted here in the Star Wars Forum which you can find here

and

One for Contest Entries which you can find here

I am still considering to move all future pictures from the 2010 Rumor & Picture Topic to flickr, but it's all just thoughts and ideas at this point.

Feel free to join the groups and share previous MOC's and contest entries.

I have a question-why do you seem to hate the front page? I'm not trying to be offensive, but it's like you never frontpage things. I took till the last minute for you to frontpage the Epic Scenes vote, and you never seem to frontpage MOCs, even the greatest ones. I just would like your side of the story.

Well excuse me for being on a summer holiday with a crappy usb broadband modem :hmpf:

And never frontpaging anything is a friggin' lie.

There's plenty of stuff I'd like to frontpage, but it's all a question of letting everyone here frontpage stuff.

Sorry, I haven't been here too long so maybe it's just me.

So far I've got around 40 frontpages this year, do the math on how many that is per week.

OK, looking through the first five pages of the frontpage, you've only frontpaged two MOCs. All I'm saying is that I would like to see more amazing MOCs frontpaged and less reviews.

EDIT: So it seems in the past you frontpaged more MOCs. I guess you just haven't been using the frontpage as frequently or there just haven't been as many amazing MOCs. Sorry, newbie mistake.

Better pull this one back in the spotlight for a few more views.

Wouldn't it be better to have the questions thread pinned? Far more newbie friendly !

For future consideration, if questions really do distract from MOCs and reviews, why not have separate sub-forums for MOCs and reviews and/or questions?

We need to be careful that this forum is a fun place that new people feel they can make mistakes without twenty members jumping on them shouting "wrong thread! wrong thread!"

Also there is a danger of becoming elitist, if some people's posts/topics are seen as more "post worthy" than others.

Sorry, i know I don't post much, but I've seen this happen in other (lego and non lego) forums, and I don't want it to happen here...

That's fine, but remember that not everyone feels the same. Pesonally I'd rather see reviews than MOCs. I want to build, and unless the maker of the MOC produces instructions and a parts inventory (which they almost never do, apart from Anio/Oxycrest and a few others) all these MOCs will ever be to me are pretty pictures, and that's not what I'm interested in..... Reviews of 'real' sets are what I enjoy because I can actually buy the set and build it myself if I like the look of it.

One thing I have noticed is that it sometimes seems that you have to produce something really spectacular to get frontpaged from the Star Wars forum, compared to some of the others where some pretty modest creations are frontpaged. I love reading the trains forum, for instance, but IMHO there have been some pretty average creations frontpaged from there.

Overall, however, I think the mods do a pretty good job of balancing all the different and diverse inputs and interests, so thanks and keep it going !

As for frontpaging, I promise the amount of FP's from the Star Wars Forum will increase.

As soon as I've updated the MOC Index - I did around 100 MOCs yesterday and still I am not up to date.

As soon as I am there - I'll have more time to keep the newest stuff MOC and news wise on the frontpage.
