You're doing a great job KimT!

Seriously, I have no complaints or concerns. I actually think that the Star Wars forum as it is fantastically well done, and that you, KimT, keep it the most organized of any of the theme specific forums! So, from me, just keep up the good work.

Oh no, I hope compliments are also allowed in this thread...

It started out as a site for Bigpond users, get it a whirlpool in a Bigpond, now its Australia's largest computer forums, not just telastra, optus, aapt, primus, movie section, tv section, smaller broadband providers, dial up and satellite, games sections, news, on the net, file sharing, everything that is legal.

I know the site, but I'm still not seeing the connection to why you're mentioning it. You don't need to be cryptic just to say "other sites change". Besides, like many sites, EB has changed in massive ways over and over.

Do you really want the site structure to make no sense? To use your analogy, should whirlpool mix the TV section in with the mobile phone section just because there is some overlap? If we do this change, people will then want to discuss the Indy movies in License, Stargate in space, and Lord of the Rings in History...

Oh no, I hope compliments are also allowed in this thread...

KimT deserves all the compliments he can get!

My connection was wp started out just as a forum for telstra, now it covers many things and grows all the time.

We're a LEGO site, and everything else is peripheral, thus it's in a separate forum. We have no desire to become a hub of pure Star Wars discussion.

Which is exactly how the staff feels about having a sub forum for such in here and I agree.

Culture & Multimedia goes in the proper forum and the same goes for customized minifigs.

Anyway, any idea of when we will know when the next contest is?

Soon

KimT, are you still working on the minifig index, or is that going to be a permanent WIP?

(Sorry, best way I could put it. )

No no no, I aim to update it pretty soon.

I've just purchased the last of this year's wave so far and will be taking pictures shortly.

Okay, that's good. (Not rushing you, so don't feel obligated to get it done faster or anything, which I'm sure you aren't. )

I guess that's all I have to say for now.

He does do a great job.

I've been thinking and honestly can't think of anything that needs changing right now. The forum always seems to be on topic and KimT brings new stuff to the front page often. Which is great, it draws more traffic to the SW forum. Which is the best forum of course

Hello,

I'm wondering about age. I recently came across this topic...Users Pictures

I noticed that people are 12 years old on here. Isn't this an adult community?

You're asking this in the wrong place; this topic is directed to KimT and Friends. Anyway, the answer is obvious; read the Guidelines... You did agree to reading them when you joined afterall.

Questions are supposed to be about the Star Wars forum.

Anyway, since I'm here, yes this is an adult community and we are supposed to be over 18. As long as underage members act mature, and don't screw around, then I'm pretty sure mods are fine with it.

EDIT: Well Walruses apparently type faster than I do, so this post was virtually pointless.

Yes, I did read those guildlines. Sorry for posting this in the star wars section. I'm quite tired after work

I was just surprised to see this I don't have a problem with it. A large portion of members are not adults.

Walruses are very fast at typing. Tusks are much faster at hitting keys compared to fingers

Seeing how you guys have gone nuts over the "Quest for R2D2" I was thinking of making a commercial index of the commercials on LEGO Star Wars.

How does that sound?

I thought that was just supposed to be a short mini-clip type thing, not necessarily a commercial. Sort of like the Revenge of The Brick movie, if that is what it was called.

Anyway, I think that would probably be a good idea. Would there also be fan-created stop motion clips in there too, only the really good ones? Or is that too much?

Hey, I just registered today because I'm considering doing reviews for a couple discontinued Star Wars sets which I recently acquired through BrickLink and aren't on the index here yet. Since I discovered this site a few weeks ago I've already read several reviews for various other sets which I've found helpful, so I'm interested in giving back. I have two questions:

1) Is it considered acceptable for a new user like me to post set reviews right off the bat?

2) How much traffic does this site get on average? I'm asking because I'm wondering whether it would be safe for me to deep-link to review images stored on my own hosting. It's quality shared hosting with no specified monthly bandwidth limit, and which I'm not currently making heavy use of. This would be less trouble for me than using something like Photobucket, but I can go with one of the big free image hosting sites if you think that's a better idea.

Yes! We do offer help via the Reviewers Academy if you want.

2) How much traffic does this site get on average?

Reviews receive from 500 to 10,000 page views. If you review a new and un-reviewed set you'll probably get at least 5000, otherwise it'll probably be only 500.

Considering you're planning on doing older sets you should be safe, but new reviews have overloaded peoples sites before, so it is a valid concern.

I think I can pick up most of the ropes just from looking at other reviews, but I guess it couldn't hurt to make sure I don't miss anything important. Is this Reviewers Academy the sort of thing I could just look at for reference if granted access? I do know my way around the technical side of things pretty well.

I can help with this question,

Basically, Reviewers Academy is a place where members are signed up as students, to learn basic reviewings with the pinned lessons that provide the basic fundamentals of reviewing, and followed closely, by providing progression reviews on a total of 9 levels. The first 3 reviews that are done in the academy are not allowed to be posted to the public, if the student has not been granted the bronze badge under the members' profile to certify the current status. Teachers will be providing constructive advice to guide you on the improvements to demostrate better understanding on all reviewing aspects.

Of course, you are also given the option as well, not to pursue this path if you are not interested, and may continue to post reviews on your own in Eurobricks, but the reviews which you have done will not be taken into consideration.

You may sign up here, to be given access.

Thanks.

I've already started putting together my review of set 4483, so I hope you won't be put off if I go with this latter option. Of course I'll be open to any constructive criticism you might have once I've posted it.

If you could find all those, that'd be awesome. I only seen like 2 in my life.

The sprouse's sister is coming over, so I guess I'll have some time on my hands tonight.

I'll start searching YouTube for links and then make a Star Wars TV-ads Index.
