I must say that you guys did an amazing job with these instructions. Everything is clear and easy to follow. I liked the comments and background history in the beginning too, that was a nice touch. The chassis is excellent. I love how the suspension works in both the front and rear and the transmission is really interesting although somewhat simple with only 4 forward gears, but I like how it is built into the frame of the car. It's clever and it works. It also makes it look more realistic. I'll get some pictures posted hopefully tomorrow of the final model. I am changing the blower though. Going to try a shaker scoop idea and using the new gloss black 6 hole wheels. Quote
Meatman Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 (edited) Had to wait for a few more key parts to finish her up. But here she is. I love this model. It looks great and is fairly simple with some unusually neat and unique build techniques. I like the way the hood opens, very nice and smooth. The gearbox and suspension work perfect. The instructions were easy to follow although you have to look carefully when building the black chassis because the pins are hard to see, but luckily you get the black version of instructions along with the red and the black set has the chassis in light blue gray, so if you are having trouble seeing, you can use that as a reference. I changed the blower to a sort of shaker scoop and used the pearl silver grill from the black model on the red model. Also went with the new glossy black wheels. The intro to the instructions did say to use the plans as the outline and you become the painter. This would be a great model to motorize too. Lot of room for motors and a battery box. And it isn't a very heavy model either. Had a lot of fun building this and the end result is superb as always. Great job guys! Edit: I need to learn how to take better pictures. Looks really Cool..! :thumbup: Glad that you enjoyed building it..! It was a fun model for me to create... I learned a lot of things along the way for future building.. Yes, this model would be very easy to motorize... I was thinking about offering a 3rd build with motorization, but I am not a fan of motorizing large models as I just don't think that you get the performance that everyone expects... I've already begun work my new model which will be a mid scale motorized Stunt Car... I also just finally got the Muscle Car model up at rebrickable.. Yeah, I've been catching a lot of flak over the years because I don't motorize my models(apparently incorporating power functions into every model is what Technic building is all about these days) so I have decided that I am going to go backwards several years to my Power Functions experimentation stage and see if I can build a new reliable model that can make use of the newer power function motors... Taking all of your work into consideration, you obviously earned the Pro tag as well Here is the model in Black/Red.. This time around the Black Flexi Axles are easy to find... In fact it will be a bit easier to get the parts to build the black model than the red one... We will have instructions for both models... Why is the red version harder to build? I do own these models and the 8070 is still pretty new, so I wasn't expecting them to be this rare. Quote

I was loading some of my own parts into my wife's store to add more of a variety and when I entered those Red size 14 flexible axles and checked other store's prices to compare, I had to do a double take when I seen the prices for that Red 14 flexible axle... I think Sheepo's Mustang uses a few of them and that may be why they have become so hard to find.. She had recently sold 2 of them for .50 cents in late January from a parted out 8653 Enzo... I also had 20 and gave my wife 10 to sell... I really wish Lego would release parts packs in various colors similar to what they did years ago with the styling pack... They could include 2 of every flexible axle and 2 of every panel... I bet I ordered at least 100 of these back in the day... Where did the chrome rims come from? Are those from Lego or did an outside company paint them? I sent them away and had them professinally spray chromed... They also do color tinting... Quote
