I checked two nearby Toys-R-Us stores and shop.lego.com but none of the new sets (cargo plane and snow-mobile) are available yet ... I'm debating heading to the nearest lego store (60 km) but most likely will call first.

In any event, anyone knows if the new sets are available in the US?

I haven't seen them either, although I live about 4 hrs north of you DrJB in a smaller town, so you'll probably get them first. What annoys me it Lego.com. Whats the deal? January's almost over and no new Technic?

I just spoke to the Lego Store in Schaumburg (suburb of Chicago), and per the lady manager, that set has been released in the UK only, and there is no set date for US release ... darn.

I haven't seen them. I'm willing to bet this is like a number of other themes (some of the new Superheroes sets, the new Star Wars sets, etc.), and they've held them back in the US for, as far as anyone can tell, a chance to push the Lego Movie sets. I haven't seen an official explanation but that's what people in the other subforums have assumed, since the shelves are getting hammered by Lego Movie sets and most of the other winter 2014 stuff is MIA in the States even if it's out elsewhere.

Usually we get stuff here first or near first. This is strange that these sets are not stateside yet, but we can't be in the front of the line all the time. I couldn't even order parts from the snowmobile from customer service a couple of weeks ago. I "had to" go to bricklink.

I was able to order some of those parts as well ... but some are ridiculously expensive ... ON the Lego site.

It seems that they are being inconsistent or I got a lousy customer service rep.

I've seen quite a few 2014 LEGO sets at the LEGO stores, but no 2014 Technic sets yet. I think the only exception is the twin rotor helicopter, which I seem to recall seeing at a store.

Hmm. I'm in the US, can't buy sets on shop.lego.com, but (per this thread) I've started the process of buying some parts through Lego. I was quoted the following prices (exclusive of tax and shipping):

6055519 (dogbone) 0.49

6055628 (5L A-arm) 0.63

6055629 (snowmobile kingpin) 0.28

4268659 (CV male) 0.97

4610374 (CV female) 0.53

4525184 (3L differential) 1.00

42000's hubs weren't too bad (0.94 and 0.80 front/back) but the tires were absurd (4.52 each!) Part 4610378 92909.jpg was 1.64 each, as well.

So some parts are cheaper than expected (the dogbone), some are reasonable (the differential), and some are much higher than I'd expected.

Yeah, you have to shop around between Bricklink and Lego to find the best prices...

I acquired $200 worth of Toys R Us Gift cards from a promotion they ran back in October and was hoping to use them for the new sets for parts.. The Gift cards expire on the 24th of this month which is in 4 days...

I think the new 10241 Maersk Triple E is sink down at the Atlantic sea with al 18000 containers full with the new Lego sets

It's the weight of the sticker sheets alone that did it.

Two options:

1. Buy yourself NEW gift cards (with those you have) - Some stores won't allow you to do that.

2. Buy a BIG lego set (do NOT open it), then return it when the 2014 sets show up, against some 'store credit'. However, if they won't accept the return, you've got yourself a nice set nonetheless... Though, gotta choose 'wisely'.
