January 29, 201411 yr Thank you! I'm currently working on The Battle of Five Armies, Its about 60% finnished
January 29, 201411 yr Lego gives us something we didn't even think about It seems Lego does this a lot with the LotR/Hobbit waves, but it's not usually stuff we want, lol. I think most people were expecting the biggest set in the third Hobbit wave to be based on the Bo5A with a $30 army builder add on and a 60-80 dollar set between those with Smaug in Lake-town. Instead the biggest set seems centered on the end of DoS with Erebor and Smaug, Lake-town is the cheaper $30 set, and the Bo5A is a $60 set. Pretty much nothing anyone was expecting and it doesn't seem as ideal either. I mean if the minifigures in the Erebor set are just the dwarves in rag tag clothing is anyone going to be excited to get them? I know I'm not. And who is going to be in Lake-town? Bain and who else? His sisters? Taurial? Fili and Killi? Also not the most robust selection of figures. My excitement for the third wave has actually gone down significantly after hearing the toy fair reports. I know it's probably premature and I should wait for pictures, but just based on what we heard (which could be totally wrong considering it's sketchy info at best) I am much less excited than I was a few weeks ago for the wave. I was imagining a really big cool Erebor gate and statues for the Bo5A set, a cool army builder with several factions all decked out in armor for the $30 army builder set, and finally Lake-town with the epic showdown between Bard and Smaug with some nice add on buildings.
January 29, 201411 yr I am actually surprised how quiet this page is. In absence of any news from the Toy Fair, I expected at least we go back to discussing whether or not hooded elves are proper or not.
January 29, 201411 yr Brickset has some mention of the City trains and Star Wars stuff from Nuremberg, but is totally silent regarding the Hobbit. I am still hoping that some of what we heard from London is not accurate. Smaug needs to be in Lake Town. Seriously, do you really need a windlance to pick off Bolg or Alfrid? Erebor needs to be in the context of the final film, and please no Mines of Moria setup.
January 29, 201411 yr I'm afraid the Erebor set could be uninteresting (for Kids) without Smaug. Smaug in Lake Town will be an iconic scene in the third movie and that's why people will buy both sets. Edited January 29, 201411 yr by Robert_88

I would love new versions of the dwarves :)
January 29, 201411 yr I second that. :D My expectations on Erebor I Hope it will be based on my favorite scene from DOS The fighting in the melt rooms, i loved that scene, all the dwarves fighting against Smaug calling him Fat and a Slug :3 So minifigs: (laketown clothes) Thorin, (LTC) Bilbo, Smaug (of course Wyvern like), (LTC) Dwalin, (LTC) Bifur, and (LTC) Nori or (LTC) Dori, and of course (LTC) Balin Building: Melting Furnaces, Gold trap with chains for Thorin to hang on, Throne with Arkenstone, Entrance with Rocks on the side and some Erebor like patterns and the mini bombs that Balin made in a "Jiffy" or else i make those my self! I expect all of these things because it is a $130 set! I would love a set of my fave scene, and it wasn't even in the book :D
January 29, 201411 yr kevkipo: I agree. When I heard there was an Erebor that was the scene that jumped to mind as well! (When the gold burst out of the --throne? Statue? And draped the dragon in gold!)
January 29, 201411 yr I would welcome a dwarf filled Erebor since I missed out on a lot of the dwarves from the first wave.
January 29, 201411 yr ^ I would just hope to see new figs not more dwarves we have already Yep. As long as they don't take up space for new charcters it's fine. But their armor really is cooler than the raggedy clothes.. Bilbo really should have his mithril vest for example.
January 29, 201411 yr ^ I would just hope to see new figs not more dwarves we have already Me too. I'm not sure an Erebor set filled with minifigs we already have is going to do well even with Smaug. I am hoping for Thrain. I would recommend bricklink for all your missing minfig needs.
January 29, 201411 yr The first Hobbit wave is still available most places so you can pick up the original dwarves for MSRP, or BL them separately if you just want the dwarves. Personally I don't want the Erebor DoS dwarves because you can EASILY MOC them yourself. Basically just take the Lake-town Guard torso, the dwarf head and legs, and tada... DoS versions! Maybe armored versions from TABA would be ok, but like others I would rather see totally new characters such as Dain, Bolg, etc. Edited January 29, 201411 yr by Deathleech
January 29, 201411 yr @deathleech - yeah but not everyone is as fortunate as you to have multiple laketown guards.
January 29, 201411 yr @deathleech The dwarves costumes from laketown look nothing like that.... Bilbo has the big blue coat and scarf Thorin has a dark blue robe and a redish tunic -?- The other dwarves have some interesting costumes and would actually make some nice laketowners if you switched the head and legs around because they're wearing basic laketown clothes
