deskp Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 Are we going to see the set tomorrow or Thursday? lego never REALLY participates in the 'preview day' with anything i don't think. Quote
BrickBob Studpants Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 Actually, TLG have already begun revealing new sets, they've just unleashed pictures of a new Star Wars set via MTV So we might get to see the Hobbit set quite soon as well Quote

Also the LEGO Movie Super Cycle Chase. So we should expect something from them! -Sci Quote
Shroffy123 Posted July 23, 2014 Posted July 23, 2014 Hobbit fan sites are reporting that lego, and lego mocs are thus far the best showings at sdcc Quote

ZCerberus Posted July 23, 2014 Posted July 23, 2014 Word on the street is we will indeed be seeing 1 new Hobbit set at SDCC I would expect a picture and press release soonish. Quote
Cammo Posted July 23, 2014 Posted July 23, 2014 This gives you guys an early look at the Thranduil's Elven Armour. Quote
wesker Posted July 23, 2014 Posted July 23, 2014 Would be great if we got armoured Thranduil in a set. Quote
BrickBob Studpants Posted July 23, 2014 Posted July 23, 2014 As long as he doesn't take another characters spot, I'd be fine with that The only realistic option for him to appear is the Bo5A set, and that one is sure to be very crowded. Dain II is already confirmed, and it's the only chance we have of getting Ironhill dwarves and Mirkwood soldiers. Since it's a battle set, we also need a couple of orcs, claiming additional spots in the roster. That leaves little opportunity for further minifigs, so I'm not sure whether we should expect Thranduil to make another appearance (especially since this version would require a new mould) Quote
wesker Posted July 23, 2014 Posted July 23, 2014 I don't think a new mold would be necessary. If Galadriel is going to reuse Elrond's hairpiece the same would likely be done for Thranduil. Quote
deskp Posted July 23, 2014 Posted July 23, 2014 This gives you guys an early look at the Thranduil's Elven Armour. we've seen better looks at it last year. x] but he sure has a fancy cape. Quote
The Real Walkers Posted July 23, 2014 Posted July 23, 2014 So, out of interest, if we're seeing one set (hopefully) in the next few days, when can we expect to see images (etc) of the other three sets? Quote
Floundie Posted July 23, 2014 Posted July 23, 2014 So, out of interest, if we're seeing one set (hopefully) in the next few days, when can we expect to see images (etc) of the other three sets? October I would think. Quote
BrickBob Studpants Posted July 23, 2014 Posted July 23, 2014 The official press release cites an October release date (here's a link in case you've missed it: http://finance.yahoo.com/news/lego-systems-unveils-products-experiences-132900634.html ), so the sets should be revealed late August/ early September Quote

K-Nut Posted July 23, 2014 Posted July 23, 2014 (edited) Smaug looks amazing (), but $130 for 800 pieces? And I wish it were actual Ererbor, or at least a facade. Eh, I'll still get it. Edited July 23, 2014 by K-Nut Quote
