Mencot Posted July 28, 2014 Posted July 28, 2014 (edited) SO which variation of thorin do you guys reckon we'll see. I counted about three in the trailer: Gold armour with crown, Battle armour(might be the same but no cape and crown) when the dwarves are all walking in armour through erebor, Fur coat and chainmail has already been seen in filming photos and in this trailer. Personally I reckon it will be the battle armour seen whilst the dwarves are passing him. I am hoping for a Gold Battle armour And the movie looks awesome, hopefuly we TLG won´t disspoint us with the other sets planned. Edited July 28, 2014 by Mencot Quote
legofreak86 Posted July 28, 2014 Posted July 28, 2014 After the Trailer I hope we see: Armoured Thorin, Armoured Thranduil, Bolg, Elf warriors, Iron hill dwarves, Elrond, Galadriel, Blue coated bard, Armoured orcs, Injured Gandalf (if we have to have one), Dain ironfoot, Legolas (casual), Tauriel (casual), Bain, Witch King. Those along with the ones in the erebor set would make the perfect wave. Quote

It would be nice if we could get two sets focused on the battle. One with all the main characters, and one with a bunch of generic soldiers. Quote

Yes an Army Builder would be nice for The battle of the Five Armies. if they did one for Mirkwood and Helms Deep we should see one for The battle of the five armies. azog15 Posted July 28, 2014 Posted July 28, 2014 I'm over the lack of minifigs in the new set. Bring on the rest of the sets! Anyone else trying to stay away from all The Hobbit BOFA trailers? Quote

Risgrynsgrot Posted July 28, 2014 Posted July 28, 2014 After watching the trailer I feel a bit insulted, how Peter is using Billy Boyds great singing from a very heavy scene in LOTR, genuinly moving one too and applying it to this awful CGI cashgrab. You know that the silly "Bard races around on a cart" will be a 10 minute action scene. With that said - I'm really disappoint that we get Battle Goats instead of Battle Boars. Quote

You know, looking at the costume on the actor, I almost hope or wish that if we do get an armored Thorin it would be the normal Castle Breastplate, but with the banding and color printed on. Just printed on the fig the way it is in that picture looks too flat and lifeless. Quote

That could work. but remember everythign looks flat and off in the game. legos gold printing is shiny and vivid for example. But he migth deserve a breastplate like Theoden did. yea When was that seen in the game? The DLC content shouldn't be out yet. Well, its the same armor as Thror ;) Quote

Hammerhand Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 I'm not really sure what to think of the dwarves riding goats... I mean, dwarves are these bulky, stocky, warriors, and they're riding goats. It's kind of a disconnect. When you think of goats you don't really think warrior. My family has goats, and let me tell you, there is nothing war like about them. I much preferred the boars. But oh well, the movie still looks pretty cool. Quote

But oh well, the movie still looks pretty cool. The dwarves are from the Iron Hills, which has mountainous terrain. I imagine they would have something similar to Bighorn Sheep there. So it wouldn't be too far out of the realm of possibility that the dwarves domesticated them. It's also worth mentioning that dwarves are probably short enough to ride them. Quote
Deathleech Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 (edited) Take that, stupid rumor that the Iron Hill dwarves would be cut They woulda had to change the name to Battle of Four Armies if the Iron Hill Dwarves woulda been cut. That rumor was so far off and unbelievable Goats? What happened to Boars? Lol. PJ has been playing too much World of Warcraft methinks... Also, those are RAMS the dwarves are riding, not sissy goats people. THIS is a goat: THIS is a RAM! Edited July 29, 2014 by Deathleech Quote
Shroffy123 Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 Haha thank you deathleech you beat me to the distinction Quote
Hypernova888 Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 (edited) Mm...thanks Deathleech. I couldn't remember their names. All I could come up with was "Death goat". I personally want to see Thorin's king variant with the crown. The simple armoured one would be cool (And probably more so with a breastplate), but I want a Thorin hairpiece with the crown. It's improbable that it will happen, but it would be awesome. The cahriot was driven by the 4 dwarves we get in smaug set ;) here I got updated lego/movie comparisons for Fili and Kili. So far it's Thumbs up on the minifigs: I really like these comparisons. Great job! After watching the trailer I feel a bit insulted, how Peter is using Billy Boyds great singing from a very heavy scene in LOTR, genuinly moving one too and applying it to this awful CGI cashgrab. You know that the silly "Bard races around on a cart" will be a 10 minute action scene. I'm not even going to... And that ten-minute action sequence will be flipping awesome. Doctor_ocks Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 Some of us are just fanboys...and I include myself in that. Yes I love the books and if I compare the Hobbit films to the LOTR films, I think I can objectively say that the LOTR films are better movies. However, I just love this franchise and am happy to overlook some of the sillier things because I get to see MIDDLE EARTH ON THE BIG SCREEN. Am I super happy with the most recent Lego sets? Not really, but it beats trying to pick which Lego City female hair piece looks the most like an elf to create my Middle Earth minifigs. PJ has been playing too much World of Warcraft methinks... Yeah I think this was more the idea Quote
nymmerod Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 I've been lurking here for a long time but nobody has mentioned the 3ds video game giving us a glimpse of a possible armored Thorin, as well as armored Fili and Kili. Links to some pics I snapped of my own 3ds since I couldn't find a single image of this anywhere on Google... http://postimg.org/image/hjazgxhh7/ http://postimg.org/image/e0yzkjgl7/ I apologize for the low quality images but the screen is tiny and the minifigs on screen are even smaller. And there isn't really a good way to get a full body shot. However the little headshot logos give a better idea on the torso printing. Thorin has the same crown that the Thror minifig has in-game. Also note the Bilbo on the top left of the first link. He is in a gold outfit that I haven't seen anywhere. I'm not sure what it's from. I, for one, hope these turn out to be some of the real figs we'll see this fall but who knows? Some minifig clues from the 3DS: I don't want to rub it in anyone's face (Kevkipo! :P) but these designs I posted on page 67 were EXACTLY what has been revealed in the Lonely mountain set for armored Kili and Fili. The 3DS game also had the exact designs for armored Balin and Dwalin. I will further note that the Mountain Bilbo was in the game too. And there are no other new variations of Bilbo in the game with his mithril coat showing. The Bilbo versions in the game we haven't seen yet are the gold vest one I posted, which is the same as the blue coat bluray one with his blue coat taken off. And Lake-town Bilbo which is just his head and small dark red legs on the Guard torso. And one called Beige Bilbo which I can't really place but looks very similar to the gold vest one. So maybe no new Bilbos? This all leads me to believe, however, that the armored Thorin in the 3DS Lego game is likely a real design. Especially after seeing the trailer where he is wearing the same crown. I'm hoping it will be part of the BOTFA set. I will also note that none of the other dwarves have armored variants in the game. So I think any other armored dwarf of the company is unlikely. I assume the gold Elrond in the game is the Elrond we will see in the small Dol Guldur set. Quote

Hypernova888 Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 Yeah, the last time I watched the teaser I noticed two moving figures on the sides of Balin. I guess it sort of makes sense we have them together. Quote

However, I just love this franchise and am happy to overlook some of the sillier things because I get to see MIDDLE EARTH ON THE BIG SCREEN. I'm right there with you. Yes, I can see the problems with the hobbit film just as there were issues with LotR, but I just love Tolkien's mythology so much that I can look past it. Say what you want about the films, but the depth and quality of the fantasy world Tolkien created, especially when he created it, is without rival in my opinion. To speak to someone else's earlier comment comparing LotR/Hobbit to Game of Thrones, yeah not so much. I'm a big GoT fan and have read up on a lot of the histories (eventually I'll read the books) and while it's definitely well developed it doesn't even come close to what Tolkien was able to accomplish. Also worth noting that the target audiences are about as far apart as you could hope for (HBO sexytime gorefest vs. funtime dwarves on an adventure) PJ has been playing too much World of Warcraft methinks... Lord of the Rings Online has been using rams as mounts since the Mines of Moria expansion in 2008. I'd say this was likely borrowed from there if anything as this is a licensed WB property. Having said that, I'm very happy they decided to go with these over the boars. Edited July 29, 2014 by bachamn Quote
