We have a peter jackson figures, we do not need any more stupid figures taking up sapce that could have been used for something better..

On another topic after seeing what Elrond uses in the movie hair wise I hope he has the hairpiece from the previous LOTR line with the crown rather than the generic elf hairpiece shown on the videogame DLC gold armour Elrond figure. I do like the design they have matched it perfectly for the armour though. I hope he also has a green cape that matches the green printing on his legs like the dol guldur photo. I like the Galadriel videogame version with legs and no sleeves but again she would do well with a white cape I think.

I actually am hoping for a generic hairpiece. The downfall to licensed tthemes is the multiple character mini figs if elrond is generic he can be substituted to make a massive elf army. I am hoping the same issue true for the thranduil mini fig

True. However, if you change the hairpiece you can make generics rather easily so I'm in favor of new unique hair molds for variety.

Smaugs starting to grow on me ,so I was counting how many pieces Smaug had and its between 38 and 40 pieces (not counting the flame), I'm still not sold on Erebor, for one I dont remember there being any rocky walls like this set has and two when I think of Erebor ,I think Emerald and gold colored Bridges, stairs, columes and statues.

Good point, however its not a new mould. It would be reused from LOTR. Thranduil too most likely. Besides the generic elf hair isn't remotely accurate to Elrond or Thranduil's characters. If there are to be named characters in the wave rather than generic soldiers I'd rather they be accurate and detailed main characters rather than underdone figures using generic moulds for the sake of satisfying army builders if there are no generic soldiers in the sets. If we are getting named characters I'd prefer Thranduil have his elf hairpiece without large crown and his sliver cape, I'd prefer Elrond to have his LOTR hairpiece as 1. I never got the Elrond from that set and this variant in armour is far more useful/cool looking and 2. simply because it looks accurate and Elrond is an important member of the white council and if he is to fight in dol guldur in the movie then he is important enough to spend effort on. Same with Thranduil, Galadriel, King Thorin and Bolg.

I think the best Elrond would be videogame variant, olive green cape and LOTR hairpiece.

The thing I hate with those hairpieces is that they are designed poorly like Gandalf/Saruman hairpiece those hairpieces destroy LEGO cloaks when put on, and they get ruined eventually....

I wish they would design them better.

It's not like lego would use a widely available part in the wrong colour, would they?

Plus he should have been wearing gloves in the Mines of Moria ...

There goes accuracy!

Just the colour of his hair is wrong, indeed pretty accurate. All colours should be a bit darker, then he is perfect.

he had gloves in Mines of Moria!!! Here he is barehanded! Not accurate that was the point!

They all look pretty accurate. Sure there are some glaring differences like none of the Hobbits have flesh colored feet and instead all have brown pants and feet, but for the most part the printing has been amazing on the LotR/Hobbit figures. I think Lego intentionally uses brighter colors so the figures pop a little more.

I guess kids shouldn't think he is Aragorn.

^Exactly. Everything dark and dreary wouldn't sell many toys... oh wait, I guess they hadn't anyway since the theme is done with.

(Keep that jest in mind since LOTR is my favorite theme and I hate to see it go)

I assume they would have brightened it up considering how dark most of the playsets were. The selling point (figures) needed to stand out a bit more against that backdrop.

But I think they've hit them pretty spot on. I hadn't noticed if people wear gloves or not. Just switch out the hands if it bothers people so much.

Boromir is the one inaccurate fig in the lineup, IMO - he reminds me much more of Theoden. Maybe if he didn't have the cheekbones? And reddish-brown hair, of course. The others look fine. I would have given Arwen less prominent lips, now she looks like she's played by Angelina Jolie. And the sunken eyes treatment for Aragorn, maybe.

For the Hobbit figs, I thought Wiley Fusebot's beard would have been great for Ori, if the part was available back then.

Count me in with those wanting the representations to be as accurate as possible, meaning using the hairpiece with crown instead of the generic elf hair.

Lego really mucks up the gloves in the whole LOTR/Hobbit line - not really an issue since all AFOLs are gonna have a ton of spare hands lying around you can just swap in from old trash torsos. That's what I did for Gimli immediately.

On a slightly related topic, has the possibility of any 2015 LOTR sets been eliminated?

Technically no. Nor has the possibility of any 2015 PotC sets or Indiana Jones sets been eliminated. Nor if you want to get picky has Avatar, Lone Ranger and Speed Racer been formally closed. They rarely talk about the end of licenses, and they would absolutely never talk about them while the Hobbit or a similar related line is still on shelves and releasing more. All we have are rumors that those who have supposedly seen early copies of the 2015 retailers catalog report no or no new LotR listed in it.

can you link to what the 2015 retailers catalog do show then?

We don't have leaks of the catalogs yet. We normally don't start getting those until September or October. The retailers have not seen it yet. It is still primarily internal to TLG. What supposed and completely unverified rumors we have reportedly come from regional Lego product management, distribution and retailer facing people who if believable might be seeing the 2015 set lists as part of their job.

Usually any set leaks that come out around August/September are only from the Winter wave. We don't really hear anything about the Summer wave sets until around December/January.

The mines were rocky, and we know that the rocky area in the set is meant to be mines because of the gold crystals in the rock and the elevated bucket thing to transport the mined loot. Also, they did give us two columns and a staircase. However, I agree with you in your claim that TLG didn't do a spectacular job of depicting the halls of Erebor. A dwarf statue would've been nice as well. The thing that I'm most shocked by is the exclusion of a decent gold hoard, as the set doesn't include very many gold studs or coin pieces.
