K-Nut Posted August 13, 2014 Posted August 13, 2014 The smallest set is nice, as is the laketown expansion. The figs in the BO5A look great (Dain and Thorin ), but the set itself looks kinda lack luster at the moment. Quote
xtremegoogler Posted August 13, 2014 Posted August 13, 2014 Strange that these pictures are still up here on Eurobricks. Because on a lot of blogs (Brickfan, Lord of the Brick) LEGO "requested" the pics to be removed, or else they will have your entire blog removed. Quote
Slurpifier Posted August 13, 2014 Posted August 13, 2014 I'm not going to voice my opinions on these sets, since mine are pretty much the same as the majority here. I'll easily pick up a few of the Witch King Battle sets, mainly for parts and of course the Witch King. On the subject of the Battle of the Five Armies set, I'll probably wait until its discounted at Christmas time, which always happens to LOTR and The Hobbit sets. Quote

Because on a lot of blogs (Brickfan, Lord of the Brick) LEGO "requested" the pics to be removed, or else they will have your entire blog removed. I'm wondering why... TLG are probably requesting this on behalf of WB/NL/MGM, but there's not much spoilerific in those sets (except of Dains design) Quote
8BrickMario Posted August 13, 2014 Posted August 13, 2014 I noticed the new spring-missile piece and the new Orc hair. It's good that the transparent shots aren't the only option. Quote

TLG are probably requesting this on behalf of WB/NL/MGM, but there's not much spoilerific in those sets (except of Dains design) Probably so that they are not copied and manufactured by bootleg makers in the Far East before they are released by lego. They will probably fake the figures anyway once the sets are out, but at least let lego get them out first. Strange that these pictures are still up here on Eurobricks. Because on a lot of blogs (Brickfan, Lord of the Brick) LEGO "requested" the pics to be removed, or else they will have your entire blog removed. I don't think they can have the blog / site removed, but the CEE team can stop sending free promotional / review sets. That is normally enough to make most blogs tow the line. Quote
Tom Bombadil Posted August 13, 2014 Posted August 13, 2014 Although I am disappointed that the 3rd wave lacked a decent number of generic human/elves/dwarves soldiers and 'buildings', I am glad we have a 3rd wave after all... Unlike lotr. Looking forward to owning smaug, Bain, dain, witch king, galadriel and the new tauriel! Quote
WhiteFang Posted August 13, 2014 Posted August 13, 2014 Dear Eurobricks Members, I will like to seek your kind understanding. I have removed all images pertaining to the upcoming LEGO Hobbit 2014, as per TLG request. Please do not post or re-post images in this discussion including links. Thank you for your attention. KristofBD Posted August 13, 2014 Posted August 13, 2014 Well that's it then. I guess most of us have already saved the pictures anyway. Now let's hope TLG releases the official images quickly! Quote

If Far East cloners make an armored Thranduil or proper Elf Soldier then I will give them all the money instead of TLG and maybe even the pics. Yes, we should be happy for Middle Earth sets but that's like saying we should be happy to have had love in a bad relationship. It simply doesn't justify anything thrown at us. Already many sites are saying that BoFA set could be the worst set in the entire LOTR/Hobbit themes. Clearly, Lego has done some very wrong things with the license as many have speculated and/or demonstrated. Quote

I doubt they will. For all themes except superheroes, they seem to mainly do fakes of official figures only. Quote
TheRedViper Posted August 13, 2014 Posted August 13, 2014 Along with the majority, I am quite disappointed about the lack of generic figures, however the smallest set looks very nice, and Lake town looks decent. Quote
Ultron Posted August 13, 2014 Posted August 13, 2014 These are just bad. If this is what we get, I'm glad this theme is ending. Galadriel is the only fig I want and would consider spending money on. Thanks, Lego. Job well done! Quote
Hypernova888 Posted August 13, 2014 Posted August 13, 2014 Damn, missed out on the pics. Aw, that's a shame. I think thelordofthebricks1 on YouTube has a video with them in it. Do you guys think Galadriel's hair looks dark because it's pearl gold? Quote
deskp Posted August 13, 2014 Posted August 13, 2014 Do you guys think Galadriel's hair looks dark because it's pearl gold? Yep. Quote
Thomas of Tortuga Posted August 13, 2014 Posted August 13, 2014 Dang. Missed them by 30 minutes. Quote
LegoDakin Posted August 13, 2014 Posted August 13, 2014 I can see more Hobbit sets next year and Lord of the Rings the year after as I don't think the sets complete this theme probably Quote
Fives Posted August 13, 2014 Posted August 13, 2014 Is there any place where these pics could be? Does anyone know? I seem to have missed some big news and now the images are gone. Quote
UsernameMDM Posted August 13, 2014 Posted August 13, 2014 Glad I got to see the pics before they were taken down. Still waiting on battle packs... Quote
Carlos S Posted August 13, 2014 Posted August 13, 2014 Oh!! And I had a few close images of the Witch King and Galadriel Quote

Where did you take/find those pics Quote
Fives Posted August 13, 2014 Posted August 13, 2014 (edited) So I was able to find the images finally. Here's my rundown on the sets: Witch-King Battle: by far this is the best set of the wave, with Erebor coming in close second. I think the reason is, above everything else, this feels a lot like an LOTR set, particularly because it has LOTR characters. Plus, all of the figs look amazing, which makes this set a rare gem for this theme. Lake-Town Attack: I'm actually pretty ok with this one. I'm glad we're getting Bain, but that hair is wrong. Hopefully the Luke hair gets some colour variants in the future so I can remedy this inaccuracy. I'm also a little disappointed that the Black Arrow isn't a flick fire. Yes, I realize that overall flick fires are pretty bad, but in this instance it would have looked so much better. Plus, we could have the Black Arrow right out of the game, which looked great. The main pluses of the set are the Bard and the two new orcs. Even if they are to completely new, we now have new Orc hair, which is really cool. The building itself is fine to me. I really like the bridge, and I feel like this will look nice next to the other Lake-Town set. The Battle of the Five Armies: ok, so this one is where most of my cries of anguish come from. While the build itself is fine and looks pretty cool, with an interesting war machine, LEGO messed up so badly in the Minifigs department. First, swap Azog for Bolg. Second, swap the eagle for Beorn as a bear. Then get rid of one of the orcs and give us armored Thranduil, and lastly get rid of the Orc and give us an armored elf or dwarf, or at least give us a new armored Orc. Pretty mad at LEGO for this one. I desperately hope we get at least one battle pack, but the likelihood of that is so so very slim. EDIT: I forgot about the Legolas and Bard in the Battle set. What a waste. Here's my ideal fig line up: Armored Thorin Dain Armored Thranduil (get rid of Leggy) Armored Elf or Dwarf (get rid of Bard and put him in Lake-Town) Bolg (no Azog) New Gundabad Orcs in Modorian armour Beorn instead of Gwahir LEGO really let us down with this set.
