Gibbon Posted August 14, 2014 Posted August 14, 2014 Apparently he did so in an Empire Magazine interview. I haven't read the piece myself, another poster was talking about it. Thank you so much as I missed that interview with PJ. Probably you are talking about this one: http://thorinoakenshield.net/2014/08/01/battle-of-five-armies-article-in-empire-magazine/ To tell the truth, I do not found PJ telling anything like a list of the involved armies in it. kevkipo Posted August 14, 2014 Posted August 14, 2014 I love your fan enthusiasm, mate. I'm sure LEGO could chuck a few yellow-headed pirates in a set with a pink brick-build haystack, call it 'Thorin and company', and you'd still love it. Really hope I could share your positiveness with these sets and maybe I'll warm up to them once I embrace the thought of using a generic brown bear as Beorn. And I totally hope you're correct about the polybag. I wouldn't get any here in Australia, but I'd at least brick link two or three to have somebody for Dain to lead. Thank you , Poly's are a problem for me too pal! Bricklink is the way to go And yes, I would still love it Quote
azog15 Posted August 14, 2014 Posted August 14, 2014 Is there a chance that these sets aren't finished? Quote
BrickBob Studpants Posted August 14, 2014 Posted August 14, 2014 Is there a chance that these sets aren't finished? No chance in Mordor They were leaked from a factory, so those are definitely finalized Quote
Elrond Posted August 14, 2014 Posted August 14, 2014 While I of course understand why they do it, I still feel like it's a shame TLG has to focus on the Hobbit instead of LOTR. It really looks like they struggle to find new set ideas for the Hobbit. Half of them seem redundant (such as Dol Guldur Ambush or the future Elrond/Galadriel set), like they should be part of one of the other sets . Meanwhile, there would still be room for at least half a dozen original LOTR sets. A shame really. Quote
kevkipo Posted August 14, 2014 Posted August 14, 2014 I was gone for a few days, and I miss this! People, tell me, do they look good? Again check my Flickr page Quote

Lol, i can't wait till the first Wave 3 set comes out for The Hobbit, somebody finally opens the last page of the Instruction Manual and then... The LOTR forum goes wild, YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSS xD that would be awesome for them. Quote
Alcarin Posted August 14, 2014 Posted August 14, 2014 If i had to rate the sets they would be rated as following 15$ set = 9,5/10 The only improvement that could happen in my eyes, would be either Witch king having glow in the dark hands and/or Elrond having generic Elf hairpiece (easier for army building) 30$(or was it 40) set = 5/10 Somehow I dont like the build, Lake Town Chase was far superior and cooler looking, also while appreciated the hairpiece for orcs is hideous for me..... bad set, useless for my collection... the only redeeming thing = Tauriel torso+legs 70$ set = 2/10 Biggest disappointment of the wave and probably even of the whole Hobbitline.... I trully expected atleast semi army builder, but inclusion of Thorin(which was evident due to his lack in Erebor) Legolas and Bard made it totally useless..... the ballista also looks ugly..... the redeeming thing is only Dain and even then only if hiw mohawk is detachable, if its not then thanks you very much but no thank you :) 130$ = 7/10 When i first seen Erebor i would rrate it around 5/10, but after seeing 2/3 other sets it suddenly climbed on the 2nd spot easily.... Smaug is okish, torsos from dwarves are usefull..... the only problem is the price point, but it will be ok to buy it on 30% discount (90€) the real letdown is the fact that I consider dwarves(and similar) as 1/2 figure and it really only has 2,5 figs and a dragon...... great parts pack torsos and good dragon Quote
Floundie Posted August 14, 2014 Posted August 14, 2014 (edited) Who thought it was a good idea to make Bain's hair orange? It's been in brown before, why didn't they just use that color? What do you guys think Dain will go for on Bricklink? I'm not familiar with the prices there so I wouldn't be able to guess. Edited August 14, 2014 by Floundie Quote

Floundie Posted August 14, 2014 Posted August 14, 2014 (edited) 15$ easily pooh By the way Kev there are also images of the back of the boxes of 79015 and 79016 in case you didn't know. I can PM them to you if you want to add them to your flickr. Edited August 14, 2014 by Floundie Quote
Pate-keetongu Posted August 14, 2014 Posted August 14, 2014 15$ easily Nah, dunno. Boromir came in more expensive set and he's around 6 USD currently, and for example Balin, Dwalin, Bombur and Bofur are even cheaper, aroun 5 USD, despite coming in Bag End which is, I guess but am not sure, more expensive than BoFA. Grima Wormtongue, who is probably the rarest Middle-Earth figure that comes in set is around 16 USD, and I doubt Mr. Ironfoots ("Ironfeet!") will be rarer than him. Of course the prices will be higher just after the sets are released but they will definitely drop. Quote
Deathleech Posted August 14, 2014 Posted August 14, 2014 15$ easily I doubt that much. Grima is in a $200 set and he is currently going for $16-20. Dain is in a $60 set so he will probably fetch anywhere from $5-8 like King Aragorn or Mouth of Sauron. He might be really expensive at first, but his price will level out after a few weeks. Quote
Floundie Posted August 14, 2014 Posted August 14, 2014 (edited) I'm glad he might not be so expensive. If Dain's mohawk is detachable, I will easily order 20-30 of him! I'm surprised his beard is dark brown. That makes it very easy to reuse him as a generic soldier. So far the BOFA set reminds me a lot of this set: http://www.geekalert...ts-LEGO-Set.jpg Edited August 14, 2014 by Floundie Quote

Floundie Posted August 14, 2014 Posted August 14, 2014 So does the leaker actually own the sets or just the boxes? Quote
Lynx Posted August 14, 2014 Posted August 14, 2014 I hope we'll see a complete image (or even the back of the box) for the Battle of Five Armies set! Quote
legofreak86 Posted August 14, 2014 Posted August 14, 2014 Hmm looks like the dol guldur set when folded in has pins on one side. Maybe it does connect to last year's sets. That would be good. Quote

Blazej_Holen Posted August 14, 2014 Posted August 14, 2014 (edited) Out of topic (not entirely) but just counting hom many regular soldiers (for the good guys) or non-character minifigs we get form LOTR and Hobbit line and I count to... (Lake town guard, Rohan Soldier, Generic Elf from barrel escpae/poly, elven captain, elven ranger from Mirkwood,...) So thats 5. 2 men, 3 elves. No dwarf, no nothing. Only characters or orcs. and there is only 3 kinds of them (exclude Goblink King Battle. Ok 4 of them.. Thats very sad. Edited August 14, 2014 by Blazej_Holen Quote

Where can I see what these new sets will look like? They were taken down because of Lego Gropu request. Somebody have them on flickr but most of the guys here includin me saved them in computer. The sets looks similar to the description from London Toy Fair. Whitch King battle (around 110 pcs) - small ruins with tree and catapult, including sceleton and Whitch king, Galadriel and new Elrond in golden armour and green cape Attack on Lake town (around 320 pcs) - bell tower with windlance, bridge and small structure, with two orcs (mordor torsos) with new hairpiece, Tauriel in bright green outfit, Bain and Bard (same print as LTC but possibly scorched outifit and scars on the face BOFA (around 470 pcs) - Ballista, and some kind of stairs, bridge and some ruined structure with armored Thorin with his crown and golden armour (print), Azog, Dain with new helemt mold and mohawk, Two generic Gundabad orcs, Legolas (same as in Attack of the Mirkwood spiders) Bardwith new print (like SDCC 2014) and Eagle. Black Numenorean Posted August 14, 2014 Posted August 14, 2014 Even if the next sets are not good, i will buy all of them. To thanks TlC for made me dream, maybe Quote
builderbrad Posted August 14, 2014 Posted August 14, 2014 I've just made an account but have been following these threads for over a month now. Is there anyway I can recieve the pictures from the back of the boxes of the other 2 sets? Eurobricks said I'll be on a restricted membership account for my first ten posts but i wasnt sure what that limitied me to. As far as all the new sets go. I agree with the general consensus. The 100 piece set is awesome and I'll probably buy a few of those. The others I am really up in the air about right now. Very let down overall though with so many duplicates and no generics. I think they will be redeemed if we get 2 solid polybags though! But I bet we will only get 1 if any, but I'm still hoping! May just have to pick up some more of the Mirkwood elves and make my army even bigger that way if we don't get any new dwarves or other elf variations. As far as orcs go I would have been satisfied even without the new hairpiece because I think it is really easy to just add other hair to orcs. Wish that mold could have been used to make something cooler than an orc hair. Thanks for all the info though guys! I've loved watching this forum along with the LOTR one! Quote
