kevkipo Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 @kevkipo: *hug* I just wish we could have gotten a better picture of that set, now we're pretty much guaranteed to not receive any more till October 15th Still better than not getting any at all though Ah that's a good hug, thank you I can't wait to see what a Lego Ram would look like Quote
SMC Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 when will people learn just cost the sets don't look that good and we cant see 5-10% of the box or picture does not mean everything we were hoping for will be in there Quote
Faefrost Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 I am sorry but that quote seems pure BS. How can they release a lune on Oct 15 without ever promoting it?????? They are restricted to the hard street date by the licensor. And the licensor wants to very very carefully limit reveals and spoilers until a particular point before the movies Dec 17 release. Lego has no choice in this. Quote
BrickBob Studpants Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 @SMC: I'm not saying that there has to be an extra creature by necessity, I just pointed out that it's still in the realm of possibilty due to the aforementioned reasons Of course "possible" is not the same thing as "likely", but still... coolguy2323 Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 If this wave is the end of lego hobbit, we will have to get an UCS hobbit set: maybe an Erebor Gate witch include dwarfs army, like the lotr wave. This! Also throw an armored Mirkwood Elf in there! Quote
Floundie Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 Yes to a D2C Erebor Gates!! It could be like this: $250 Bilbo with Mithril shirt and new face print, Armored Thranduil, Bolg, Dwarf Soldier x2, Armored Orc x2, Mirkwood Soldier x2, Lake-town Soldier, Bear Beorn, Molded Ram or a Reddish Brown Warg. Maybe throw in another Eagle and a Gandalf. Did I miss someone? Quote
SMC Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 its not that I think a hobbit d2c is that unlikely its just that I cant think of what it could be, for me LOTR has a lot more missing and would make for a better d2c even if we have one already Quote
Lancethecat Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 If you say that the mine area is worth $50, the throne room $40, and Smaug $30, The Lonely Mountain is only about $10 overpriced, which isn't that bad when you think about it. Quote
Lynx Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 This! Also throw an armored Mirkwood Elf in there! And Dain's war pig/ boar, please. Quote
Mahtion Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 If you say that the mine area is worth $50, the throne room $40, and Smaug $30, The Lonely Mountain is only about $10 overpriced, which isn't that bad when you think about it. If that's true I want the Throne room for $40 ;) Quote
BrickCurve Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 Something to look forward to for sure. Quote
kevkipo Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 (edited) I was thinking, If Dain is not going to get an Extra Hairpiece (for when his helmet is gone) then maybe you can use the new Orc hairpiece as Mohawk for him? Edited August 17, 2014 by kevkipo Quote
TheBrickHitHouse Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 Smaug set box art is stunning, perhaps the best looking box art this year. Wasn't going to buy...but now...well done lego marketing! Quote
sahidko Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 I have found this pics, today. I am just wondering why there are question marks for Minifigs? Are they not able to check the pictures? Quote
Black Numenorean Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 The fact that tlc did new mold like Orc hairpiece, thorin haitpiece, make me think, that the wave is not finish yet.... Quote
Agent Fusion Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 It's time to give my two cents on the matter: Witch King Battle: Possibly my favourite of the line. Three exclusive figures, a skeleton, and some other great pieces. For around £11.99, this looks amazing. Attack on Lake-town: Of all the new moulds they could have made, they chose to make a Mohawk? Besides that, the set look decent, but it's really nothing special. Battle of the Five Armies: On one hand, it's Azog, Thorin, an Eagle and Dain, all in one set. One the other hand, it's another Legolas, another Bard and a sub-par build. Better wait for a price reduction before buying this one. The Lonely Mountain: This set looks magical. Smaug is wonderful, the set includes many of the main protagonists and the build looks great. If I can afford it, I'll buy it. Quote
AFOLguy1970 Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 If you say that the mine area is worth $50, the throne room $40, and Smaug $30, The Lonely Mountain is only about $10 overpriced, which isn't that bad when you think about it. If Smaug were not in this set, you would still have about 800 pieces. Taking into account there are only 5 minifigs and a lot of the parts are cheese slopes and 1x1 round plates, I would say it is otherwise an $80 set, which means Lego values Smaug at $50. They are restricted to the hard street date by the licensor. And the licensor wants to very very carefully limit reveals and spoilers until a particular point before the movies Dec 17 release. Lego has no choice in this. If the October 15 release date is true, we are very fortunate this time. The last two waves came out in December about two weeks before Christmas and basically coincided with the film's release. Toys R Us had them a couple of weeks earlier, but at the usual premium prices. Perhaps this wave is being allowed to be released earlier to help promote the film more. Either way, it seems like a win-win scenario for Lego and its consumers. Quote
LegoLOTR Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 Love the box art! It makes me buy the set even more! D2C would be awesome...I think Rivenell would be great, because it is in LOTR and Hobbit...But two statues, main gate and stone ruins with carefully chosen minifigures would work too! Quote

Rivendell is already done, that would be utter waste of UCS set...... Quote
kevkipo Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 Rivendell is already done, that would be utter waste of UCS set...... I have to agree there. No more Rivendell Quote
LegoLOTR Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 Well, I would love to have one, but its just me...So, what do you think, what set will sell the most? Quote
Alcarin Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 Well, I would love to have one, but its just me...So, what do you think, what set will sell the most? Well from Hobbit line I doubt anything would really sell good.......... the Erebor entrance might be the most ''Collector'' valued due to the size and the display value (except for Rivendell) everything else so far was not trully on par with Argontah, Minas Tirith, Minas Ithil etc...... Quote
Blakstone Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 I would buy a Rivendale D2C. I cannot think of anything else that we get me to drop $200. D2C sets do not get any new molds but they can include new prints. Quote
