Blazej_Holen Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 There is no hair in Dain fig. Just new colored Balins beard... Quote
deskp Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 There is no hair in Dain fig. Just new colored Balins beard... Dwalins beard with Gloins face print infact. Quote
Deathleech Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 There is no hair in Dain fig. Just new colored Balins beard... Well the beard has the hair connected.. I forgot they were a single mold though. Quote
Steph 104th Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 I think its a single mold as his helmet does have a stud in it. Thorin's printing looks amazing and his headpiece is exceptional. Quote
kevkipo Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 Amazing pictures, thanks a million Carlos! I was drooling at Bard, Thorin and Dain I liked this set from the beginning, and now i even like it more Quote

What exactly is single mold? Amazing pictures, thanks a million Carlos! I was drooling at Bard, Thorin and Dain I liked this set from the beginning, and now i even like it more Like your enthusiasm :) I am looking forvard to make my own Dale from this set (that requires 2x BOFA set and many brickling orders but I already have good idea how to make a set-looking ruins with all those recognizable shapes.. Steph 104th Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 @ Blazej_Holen, from what I've seen it seems as if the hair and beard are connected into one piece, the helmet then fits over and attaches using the minifigures head stud. Quote
Alcarin Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 So after seeing the figs and more its definetly thanks LEGO but no thanks...... The ONLY good highlight of the wave is trully the smallest set with 3 amazing figs...... buying 2x minimum.... I will also Bricklink Tauriel cos i like her torso and legs..... and I will buy 1 MAYBE 2 Erebor sets (keep 1 sealed) if I can get them 30-35% off :) Quote
LegoLOTR Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 Kevkipo is enthusiast, and Alcarin, totally different... I will surely buy one piece of this set, I think Erebor will wait, or maybe even not buyed...I would just take Bilbo, Fili, Kili, Dwalin and Balin, without Smaug... Quote
Black Numenorean Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 dwarf minifig are awesome! I love thorin in king and dain in armor! god job tlc. But, after minifig, nothing good... Quote
Alfadas Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 Like that set. Still only buying everything (except lake town) once. Lake town is atleast 2, for a proper tower. Shame they didn't include some wargs in the BOFA set :( after all it is the Battle of FIVE armies. Wargs should be inlcuded. But well, can't have everything right? Quote
Wardancer Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 Is Gwaihir any different from a noname eagle? Quote
SMC Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 Is Gwaihir any different from a noname eagle? I would really like it to be but it does not look like it is different at all Quote
BrickBob Studpants Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 According to fbtb.net, TLG is going to do a Hobbit themed giveaway (among others) at the Fan Expo Canada: They are also doing themed giveaways on each day of the Expo starting on Friday. Friday will be Star Wars, Saturday will be The LEGO Movie, and Sunday will be The Hobbit. These are NOT exclusive items. Put another way, these are not the minifigs that were given away at San Diego Comic Con. They are, instead, hard-to-find promotional items related to each of the three franchises. Wonder what that might be, considering it's not exclusive... Quote

Steph 104th Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 That would be awesome if it was like that! A 2000 piece Erebor, Rivendell or Bag End or maybe a larger dale with all the armies Quote
Trunkbass Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 That would be awesome if it was like that! A 2000 piece Erebor, Rivendell or Bag End or maybe a larger dale with all the armies I now it is nearly impossible, but I would also like a larger Dale structure with as many factions as they can put in. But the need for new molds probably makes this a no-go. Quote
BrickBob Studpants Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 Um, it's a non-exclusive giveaway, the key words being "non-exclusive" and "giveaway" Quote
Mahtion Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 Um, it's a non-exclusive giveaway, the key words being "non-exclusive" and "giveaway" I think they mean another set possibly like d2c as a giveaway but definitely unlikely all the same. More lekku it will be Dain or Thorin giveaway since they are hard to find or in more expensive sets. Maybe even a Smaug? Quote
Steph 104th Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 Getting Thorin would be great, in my opinion this one is the best version of the three, Quote
Mahtion Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 My new assessments for the wave: After the shellshock of no Elf Soldier and even no Thranduil just Legolas I have warmed up to the sets. Witchking Battle is definitely an instant buy for the price and the incredibly detailed Elrond, Galadriel and Witchking. Attack on Laketown is decent with a standard quality build. I only like Tauriel variant and maybe Bain in this set. I may get the set because extra orc(s) are always nice and new hair mold. BoFA has more of a build that is okay. The ballista is still largely disproportionate to system scale by appearance. I love the SDCC Blue Bard, Angry Azog (don't have DGB) and Thorin is breathtaking. Legolas can burn in a fire and the hairless orcs are lame as always. So this set I may just bricklink Angry Azog, Thorin, and Bard. I originally thought Dain looked great but closer images revealed his helmet is goofy and has exaggerated flaring looking like a clown. Lonely Mountain is a great set for the colors, Smaug, and a bunch of new armor torsos for the main Dwarves. Kili is really good, my favorite torso. Smaug is the real deal and the seller so he is ace. I love the throne design downscaled but evocative of the source material. The little entrances and cavern structure are nice touches but some of the mining portion seems under thought, almost throwaway design. Will get this set for colors, Smaug, and some Dwarf variants. So this wave is better than LOTR wave 2 and matches Hobbit wave 2 in terms of quality and design. LOTR wave 1 is still better and hobbit wave 1 as well. Quote

More lekku it will be Dain or Thorin giveaway since they are hard to find or in more expensive sets. Maybe even a Smaug? An entire set as a giveaway? That's not unlikely, that's impossible Smaug also can't be a giveaway, previous ones have been minifigs, polybags, posters, stickers and the like Quote
Floundie Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 (edited) I can't believe they reused two old face prints for two completely new characters. It's just so obvious TLG's amount of care evident from the first wave of LOTR has at this point almost completely disappeared. It's disappointing that Dain's helmet can never be reused for a generic soldier, and he also looks nothing like Billy Connolly, but he's a nice figure nonetheless. Thorin and Bard look magnificent though. Thank you for the pictures Carlos. Edited August 26, 2014 by Floundie Quote
