Yeah Carlos, any evidence of another wave of LOTR in the instructions?

He said there wasnt earlier. It's all abit bleek at the moment.

We could hope for a d2c..

Or we could all sign the petition to draw some attention to the matter :sweet:

It will be kinda hard to get a decent quality pictures of the complete manual, I'll try it tomorrow

For those asking, this it's the only set of the winter wave I have, I may be able to get the Lake Town one the next week

Just quick idea how to mod Dale ruins. This gate is meant to be modular with pathway down nand attachable ruined walls... It has 437 pcs... so far :)

Its my first thought when I saw the set yesterday, so I had to share that idea maybe someone will continue :)

I can't believe they reused two old face prints for two completely new characters. It's just so obvious TLG's amount of care evident from the first wave of LOTR has at this point almost completely disappeared. It's disappointing that Dain's helmet can never be reused for a generic soldier, and he also looks nothing like Billy Connolly, but he's a nice figure nonetheless. Thorin and Bard look magnificent though.

Thank you for the pictures Carlos.

I'm guessing that once we see Connolly in the film, he will look nothing like himself. John Rhys-Davies looks nothing like himself in the Gimli makeup.

I don't think their level of care has dipped that much. Look at the frakkin dragon. I think TLG focused their resources on producing a kickass Smaug mold and left some of the minor details to the wayside.

Personally, I can't really complain about this wave. I'll be just as happy with these four sets as I was with all the other sets I've got. It'll make for a nice complete Hobbit collection. Would that the LOTR collection could say the same.

I wish Lego would have done this more in past waves to better utilize their budget. You can't even see most of the dwarves' faces so re-using them here and there is fine imo. I would rather they did that and then give us important new prints that are actually noticeable. I just wish Lego wouldn't have wasted prints in the past like doing two different Goblin Town goblin prints, or two different Undead Soldiers, when those figs have only been in one set each. I would have much rather seen a new Mordor Orc print.

TLG will do a Hobbit giveaway at the Fan Expo Canada  The item, whatever it is, won't be exclusive according to fbtb.net

It might just be the SDCC/ Bo5A Bard again...

I love the Dale set, thanks Carlos! And as for the reused printings, I do wish that Dain had something new, but Galadriel's head IS NOT Arwen's. Their facial features are similar enough that their figures would look similar, but if you look at Carlos' pics, she's sporting an entirely new head.

Signed, plus I sent a bunch of my friends a request to sign. While I feel like this may not get enough supporters, it would be amazing if we got one amazing D2C Minas Tirith. It would literally have everything we need to complete the theme (Eowyn, Faramir, Gondorians, armoured Merry and Pippin, The Witch-King in armour with Fell Beast, potentially Morannon Orcs and maybe Men of Harad and Rhun, possibly even a armoured Battle Troll). Plus, if they made it similar in design to Helm's Deep (which I feel would be the obvious choice) but maybe double or triple the size, we'd have one of the most gorgeous and detailed castles even made by TLG.

Also, I feel like that would actually be an amazing accomplishment by LEGO. I feel like they've made so many amazing sets like the Death Star (both the 2005 display or 2008 playset models), both the recent Sandcrawler and Endor Village sets, Metalbeard's ship, the Simpsons House, as well as numerous other amazing D2C sets), but they've never truly had an amazing and/or breathtaking castle-themed D2C set. One could argue that the Kingdoms Joust set from a few years ago might be up there, but in comparison to the likes of the Death Star and even the LEGO Movie ship, it falls flat of really 'wowing' people (at least thats my opinion).

Tackling one of the most famous a beloved castles in all of literature and pop culture would be a stellar move business-wise as well. Because of the LEGO Movie, I feel like TLG has been getting a lot more attention and popularity from a much wider group of people than they've ever had before. There are likely enough people out there who would think this idea is cool enough to support. This thought gives me hope that it will easily reach its needed goal.

Hopefully this works, and sorry for kinda wish-listing there, but it seemed appropriate.

Unfortunately, I don't think they'd extend the license just for a D2C set. If they did extend it they'd give us a complete wave to maximize their investment. It's sad, they had so many cool designs, but at this time it doesn't look like we'll see them in Lego form. :look:

that's actually a really nice idea... Can you do that with just 2 sets?

I don't think we get a D2C set. The figs in those sets would be included in the "all figs of this wave" page of the manual. Look at LOTR Tower of Orthanc. Those figs were included in the figs page. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to get one, but it isn't very likely.

Yeah, I thought of that too.

I know last year for the giveaways. It was just normal polybags. The ones you find in store. So if they keep that up. I can see it being the lake town guard polybag. I will be at Fan Expo Sunday. I will let you know what it is.

Thank you  If it's indeed a regular polybag, it pretty much has to be either the Legolas one or the one with the Lake Town guard. I don't think the older ones (Gandalf and Mirkwood Elf) are still floating around and there definitely won't be any new ones, so it has to be either of those two

So is the license suppose to end after this year or?

Now that have seen images of all the sets coming with this wave, thanks Carlos. I can say that I am not as disappointed as some of you are with the sets.

I will not go on and also make "my point of view about the 4 individual sets" because it would not add any thing new that has not been said already.

But what I will say is that I don´t think they are perfect either, saying in the way that if this is the wave that will end the Lego LOTR/Hobbit lines, I understand why it will leave a bad taste.

Now removing the AFOL glasses! (as others have pointed out also,) these sets are in fact designed for kids and with that in mind, I think TLG designers did a great job with all 4 remaining Hobbit sets. They have all the important (almost) characters from the movies (which are btw nicely been designed), included play features, brick building fun in every sets that are also familier to scenes from the movies etc etc.

I will be getting them all but the only set I will be getting right the way this wave comes out is the "Witch king battle", probably 2 of it :sweet:. Such a great set with 3 beautiful minifigs. The other 3 sets I will be getting when they are on sale.
