That way people think they are getting something different than in Orthanc or Black Gates, but it doesn't actually cost Lego a penny in new prints or molds. It's a simple marketing technique.

As for the Mordor Orcs, I think that is one place we SHOULD have gotten new prints but never did. The same print was just used so much and made little sense in a lot of the sets. We got "Mordor Orcs" in over four sets and they were the EXACT same in every one (besides accessories like the wrong helm's or hair with hairs). I would have loved to have seen at least one or two different prints where they are in armor. Heck, Lego could have even re-used the Moria Orc print and just changed the green chest part to tan and the arms from green to red or gray and that would have made for an excellent Morannon Orc. This helmet in the same gray and you have a brand new, almost perfectly accurate Orc for almost no cost to Lego.

That's right but after all no matter what name Lego is to use for the eagle the customers get the very same eagle for their money and I do not think that this is a right or fan-friendly marketing technique.

I can not agree more about the Orcs :-((( As a big lover of this folk I was really sad to see these stupid bold Mordor Orcs coming out again and again. With some minor modifications we could have had a plenty of new variants to make all of us happy. After all I am happy to see new Hunter Orc appearing in the Lake Town set as I really like them but I am sorry as they might be the very last of their kind as the line seems to be closing.

I'm sorry, I guess I am just failing to see your issue with this. What does it matter if Lego calls him Gwaihir or not? In the films Gwaihir looks almost identical to the rest of the eagles so who cares if Lego uses the same eagle mold/print for both? How or why would they bother differentiating him when he is barely different looking in the films? I mean I can understand if you were upset about the orcs or something else where they all look VASTLY different, but the difference between Gwaihir and the rest of the eagles is so miniscule it's really not worth making a separate print for. It's like the Witch King at Weathertop. He looks the EXACT same as the rest of the Nazgul there so if Lego wanted to list one of the Nazgul as the Witch King I would see absolutely no issue with it? Sure Lego could just put the eagle in all their sets and not bother listing him as Gwaihir ever, but then I am sure some people would complain we never got a Gwaihir and the Bo5A set wouldn't seem as appealing to some.

All right, I fully understand your point but I simply use the opposite approach to the question. Why the hell to call it Gwaihir if it looks exactly the same as the common great eagle (even if he looks the same in the movie)? You are probably right and this is just a chicken shit to make the people happy and satisfied to have Gwaihir in their collection without spending a single penny on it.

Maybe all of those Eagles in LOTR / Hobbit sets are Gwahirs... :D It makes sence..Orthanc (Gwahir saves Gandalf...Black Gate Gwahir flyies with gandalf to orodruina, and BOFa.. Gwahir leads army of eagles...

Smaug looks amazing! He is larger than I taught he was. I cannot wait to own all of these.

Me neither, and indeed he looks big right?

Wouldn't be shocked if they show up with the rest when they are home :sweet:

Just noticed they are pretty stupid with names: This is Thorin, Oh so Kili must be in the Lake-Town one :snicker:

Ya, he is MUCH larger than I was thinking, based on that video. We really haven't got a lot of comparison pictures of Smaug from the Erebor set...

Yeah they're pretty awful when it comes to Middle Earth.

Yes, he is much bigger than I expected. The long tail and wingspan help to highlight his size. I would like to see him compared with the castle dragon. It would partially explain why Lonely Mountain is so expensive. It seems like the Brickshow guys indicated he is made up of approximately 20 parts.

I would like to see a comparrison shot of him next to some dragons and also the t-rex from the most recent dinosaur theme to see how he measures up.

I thought that video quality was on my end...until they pointed out that it was fuzzy anyways. :hmpf_bad:

Anyways, it is great to watch (On mute) to see how massive Smaug really is. His size seems very deceptive in all the offical pictures, and I'm just so happy he's actually that large. I only have one old classic Dragon, so all my castle figures are going to freak out when Smaug arrives! Even though it's an expensive set, I think it's well worth it alone for Smaug; and I'm not even a big Middle Earth fan (Well I was, but that lackluster second wave really killed my spirit).
