MattedBricks Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 (edited) Barcodes: BoFA: 673419212465 Laketown 2: 673419212458 Witchking: 673419212144 Barcode number worked like a charm at Target in Utah. Thanks Just2good! Picked up Witch King Battle. The guy at Target also mentioned it looked like they were scheduled to put them out on shelves this coming weekend. Venkefedo Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 Target in Burbank already had Witch King Battle on the shelf today, but I opted for some CMFs instead... still, pretty tempting to scoop up a couple (I think they had enough to recreate Ring-vision Weathertop) Quote
Lord_Tyrannus Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 (edited) I have a question for Tolkien's fans: I try my best to keep the proportions between my LOTR/Hobbit armies... So, if there were about 300 defenders in Helm's Deep and 10,000 uruk-hais, it's ok to have armies with the ratio of 3 to 100... With that been said, do you know the size of the armies fighting in BO5A? And how many guards are there in Lake Town? Edited September 30, 2014 by Lord_Tyrannus Quote
Deathleech Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 With that said, does anyone know the size of the armies in BO5A? And how guards are there in Lake Town? Well the last movie hasn't been released yet and PJ may vastly change the army numbers from the book to the film like he did in several of the LotR battles. For example in the book there were 100,000 orcs at the Battle of Pelennor Field but in the film it was closer to 200,000. With that said, the numbers from the Hobbit book are 15,000 Goblins, 3,000 Wargs, and thousands of bats vs 500 Iron Hill Dwarves, 200 Lake-town men, 1,000 Mirkwood Elves, and 100 Eagles. Plus Thorin and company. There is never a number given for the number of Lake-town Guards but I would assume the low hundreds at best. Quote
Venkefedo Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 Wouldn't the Lake-town guards just be included in the count for the Lake-town men? (haven't read the book in awhile) Quote

(haven't read the book in awhile) I am sure they all are, as well as a number of other ticked off Lake-town civilians. It's hard to say how many Lake-town Guards were around before and after Smaug attacked, and how many of the 200 men who took up arms were actual guards before the Bo5A. Quote

It certainly did not say it in the books that I read.................. And if i can understand the other numbers, 100 Eagles is a bit of alot.... Quote

More like 2000 Elves as they are described as a vast array and a host. The teaser trailer also demonstrates a large number of Elves in formation in battle, certainly more than the 200 at Helms Deep in film verse. Tolkien rarely gave any number of the volumes of the armies. Quote

Exactly, in Hobbit book (atleast the one I own) the only number given were the Dwarven army from the Iron Hills led by Dain...... nothing else is igven in numbers. Quote
TheLegoDr Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 I know it is just wiki, but according to this, it gives exact numbers. Quote
Darth Punk Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 Those numbers from what I can tell are just educated guesses and are not from Tolkien himself. He only gives the number of dwarves in one chapter and references a company of 20 in another. Quote
Blazej_Holen Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 And there is also refefence to thousand elven spearmen... Quote
Alcarin Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 And there is also refefence to thousand elven spearmen... I seriously cannot recall that..... and even if it was, then there were archers etc..... hard to say really.... Same thing, with where did Tolkien said anything about 100.000 Orcs assaulting Minas Tirith.... Never seen that. Quote
Darth Punk Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 Yep, forgot about those. Rereading the battle reminds me how exceedingly vague Tolkien can be at times. Quote
Venkefedo Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 (edited) Yep, forgot about those. Rereading the battle reminds me how exceedingly vague Tolkien can be at times. Rereading The Hobbit in general does that! Most of the dwarves had no unique voices whatsoever, and while the dwarves' characters weren't fleshed out nearly as much as I'd have liked in the films so far (Bombur's pretty much just physical comic relief) at least they're more sketched out than the names & hoods of the book...even if only slightly. In any case... I'm glad these have hit stores. Target only had shelf-space & tags for the Witch-King set, in a temporary 'promo' bit of the action figure aisle that tends to change a couple times a month (this one also had the S12 CMFs, and a bunch of the $25 SW sets on the other side), so I'm not sure where they'll find a home for it or the other sets. I assume they are educated guesses based on info we are given. I am sure a lot was pieced together from other sources such as appendices, Unfinished Tales, etc. Quote

nymmerod Posted October 1, 2014 Posted October 1, 2014 Yes, December 17th (i believe! ) wow. that's a nice long wait. wouldn't it be more advantageous for them to release it concurrently with the film? I think I'm screwed as a Nintendo owner of the game because they didn't offer the previous DLC content. Also, this reminds me of a little more "on-topic" question... what are the odds on getting any more video game promo minifigs this time? Slim to none? Quote
