Borador Posted October 20, 2014 Posted October 20, 2014 Both Orcrists looks really great. After seeing close up pictures of most of these figures, I can definitley say that this wave is good. The build aren't that great, and a few more new characters would have been nice, but if we ignore what we didn't get, this wave is quite spectacular. Excellent stuff. Quote
Mr. Cube Posted October 20, 2014 Posted October 20, 2014 Deathleech: I didn´t say that those two hair pieces were included with the Mordor orcs. I just posted that picture to show that is relatively easy to create an orc army from existing pieces. And Thorin´s hair piece looks good on uruks and orcs, imo. In the movies there vere orcs with the hair like that and uruks had hair a bit like dreadlocks, and Thorin´s hair piece looks to me like that. I agree with you about the torsos. Quote
BrickBob Studpants Posted October 20, 2014 Posted October 20, 2014 I finally received my sets today, the order took a bit longer to arrive than expected I like the sets just as much as I anticipated, but Smaug is the absolute highlight of this wave (and perhaps even the entire theme) In case you were wondering what the entirety of the Middle-Earth sets look like when displayed together: Quote

He also is a little larger than I was expecting which is even better. By the way your display case looks great! I need some shelving like that to display my sets. Quote

I love your display! Sadly, by the end of my BotFA collecting, I will be missing five regular Tolkien sets that I likely won't get for a long while, if ever. Woo! My copy of TlM and LTC arrive tomorrow! I'm so excited! Quote

Risgrynsgrot Posted October 21, 2014 Posted October 21, 2014 Sadly, by the end of my BotFA collecting, I will be missing five regular Tolkien sets that I likely won't get for a long while, if ever. Woo! My copy of TlM and LTC arrive tomorrow! I'm so excited! What sets are those? I've deliberately skipped on most Hobbit sets due to both liking LOTR more and liking the design of the LOTR sets more (Only got the Unexpected Gathering from the first wave, and bricklinked the dwarves) because I mean, why would I display a pile of rocks (Riddles of the Ring), Some trees (escape from mirkwood) or a bigger rock/tree (Attack of the Wargs)? from the second wave I've gotten the Dol Guldur + Ambush sets, but I do feel that they're pretty weak too. I don't know why but I think that LOTR has alot more display value, stuff like Helm's Deep or the Black Gate is much more iconic. I Do however considering getting a Lake Town Chase + Attack on Lake Town and bricklink Smaug, but I'm not sure.. Quote
BrickBob Studpants Posted October 21, 2014 Posted October 21, 2014 @Bycougars, Hypernova888 & kevkipo: Thank you Finally holding these sets in my very hands after an agonizing nine months of waiting is somewhat of a bittersweet feeling; the wait is over but the thought of no more Middle-Earth sets to look forward to is saddening, especially since there's nothing to replace the theme with, unlike previous licensed fantasy/adventure themes like Harry Potter and Indiana Jones that each got an even better replacement after they were done It was fun as long as it lasted Quote

This had become a standard routine for me and now i tought: in those three years, is this the very last time?! Luckely we still have the movie and the game in the future Quote
Alfadas Posted October 21, 2014 Posted October 21, 2014 Indeed very saddening. But hopefully it gets replaced with viking sets Quote
Steph 104th Posted October 21, 2014 Posted October 21, 2014 I'm yet to pick up the sets but I am sure I will feel the same. Its a horrible feeling to know that one of the best themes(imo) will soon cease to exist. On the bright side more money for Superheroes and Star Wars Quote

HawkLord Posted October 21, 2014 Posted October 21, 2014 Built Lonely Mountain on Friday and it was very impressive. Initially I thought the set was overpriced and boring, but once I built it and saw it in person, it was alot more interesting and I'm considering ways to add to the set to complete a dwarven throne room. I really like how the whole set is dripping with gold bricks, which makes for a very lavish and realistic dwarven hold. Plus there's Smaug. And he is vastly impressive and huge. The wings are very well executed. Even though the price is high, after I completed the set I felt like it was worth it. Quote
Blazej_Holen Posted October 21, 2014 Posted October 21, 2014 Prepare to enter Dol Guldur... :) Preview photos from the set.... Quote

And for any interested, the sets I'm missing are Pirate Ship Ambuch, Battle of Helm's deep, Uruk-hai army, Goblin King battle and Barrel Escape, though I got most of Barrel's figures from a friend. Wardancer Posted October 22, 2014 Posted October 22, 2014 (edited) Is there no Chance that Germany already has them? I have a 15% Voucher that expires today and no idea what to do with it. Edited October 22, 2014 by Wardancer Quote
LegoThomas Posted October 22, 2014 Posted October 22, 2014 Lego shops in germany have them. But i didn't see them anywhere else. Quote

legofreak86 Posted October 22, 2014 Posted October 22, 2014 (edited) The goblin king battle is still available from TRU UK for a reasonable £50 if anyone is interested. Plus amazon have it too still. I still miss: An Unexpected Gathering, Laketown Chase, Goblin king battle and Barrels plus the BO5A stuff. I'm planning to before the year is out complete my Hobbit collection! Bycougars Posted October 22, 2014 Posted October 22, 2014 (edited) I was hoping to get a bunch of dain minifigs on ebay to build a dwarf army, but when I went and looked they are a little bit to expensive to do that. oh by the way check out the LOTR staff pick on Lego Ideas: https://ideas.lego.com/dashboard Edited October 22, 2014 by Bycougars Quote
cullmancreations Posted October 22, 2014 Posted October 22, 2014 Lego.com still has the unexpected gathering but not in stores. Toys R Us still has it in there stores like the Times Square store with the Barrel escape. Quote

I hope the US version has similar pricing! I might just pick up on that offer, but BoFA, Witch King, and DGA are definitely bigger priorities. Actually, maybe I should hold off on getting BotFA and get GKB. I still don't have Ori, Nori or Dori and GKB has less time on it, being released late 2012. I'll have to think on that. Quote
