namioik Posted October 31, 2014 Posted October 31, 2014 Not bad. About 23% off. I am waiting till closer to Thanksgiving when I am sure tons of Lego deals will be going on. I want to get the whole wave for at least 25%+ off. None of the sets are must haves for me so I can wait as long as needed... Oh my price is after tax, so it's about 28% off. Quote
Wardancer Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 (edited) I just imagined AFOLs all over the world giving Smaug a good old backrub with leather care Lotion in order to prevent his rubber wings from drying out. Of course, different lotions would be discussed in forums and different massage techniques. On bricklink, article descriptions would say "new and unused item, wings have been massaged regularly", because this would increase the Price it could fetch. AFOLs would then fall into two categories: rubberrubbers and nonrubberrubbers, the latter purists would promote the idea that the smaugrubbing method does indeed fit some definitions of customizing and is therefore to be frowned upon. Of course, third party customizer companies would quickly offer differently scented lotions with for example the new "burned city" or "seaside dragon massacre" scent. SandMirror38 Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 I just brush off the dust they seem to attract... Is my Smaug in danger of wingitis? Quote
legofreak86 Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 Has anyone seen this. it seems that dale is quite central for the battle and that a lot happens near and perhaps even inside Erebor as well. Plus in my total film magazine they had a description of a scene where the elves, bard and Gandalf were fighting in dale, whilst the main dwarves were Separated and trapped in a place called raven hill and the main forces were around dale and outside Erebor.Perhaps that structure in the BO5A set is Raven Hill tower? Which apparently is that tower that appears on all the merch for the movie so it must be prominent. I guess until a full trailer hits (hopefully and thought to be this week) we can merely speculate. If you had read the book you know what Raven Hill is When outside Erebor scared and afraid Smaug was coming back, Balin had the idea to go to an old Hill (I can't find the online picture of the set anymore) and hide there, it was the hill where an old famous Raven Pair lived (alas the name) that Thrain was a good friend with and spoke to a lot And so they where 'Hiding' There Quote

I remember little of it only the basic plot outline and some details. That one must have slipped my mind. Considering what i read in the magazine suggested that hill as quite pivotal to a moment of the battle and showed a picture of it with a broken tower like the one on all the box arts, i naturally assumed that the BO5A set was either based on That or on dale. Might be completely wrong but hopefully the trailer coming very soon confirmed to be over 2 minutes long may shed some light on this. Edited November 1, 2014 by legofreak86 Quote
Blazej_Holen Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 I think that this Tower is not the scene that we get in BOFA set. BOFA structure is clearly something from Dale (roof, colour scheme...) the Tower from Raven Hill is kinda Dwarwish outpost, ruined by Smaug, and some speculations says that maybe this location will be main Camp of evil forces... Maybe they will lead attack from there, since there should be dwarven company hiding before Smaug... Quote
legofreak86 Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 The magazine said that the main dwarves are trapped there in the battle and that they are unaware that there is a veritable army heading towards their position. Gandalf is trying to convince Thranduil whilst fighting in the ruins of dale to send aid to them. He is uncooperative, Bilbo and Gandalf are apparently arguing in a scene where Bilbo wants to warn the company himself. Thats what i read in the magazine. The set is likely trying to combine bard fighting in dale with other events from the battle like thorin vs azog. We will not know however til the film comes out. Quote

Amazing Bricks Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 I just got the witch king battle set and i love it. I didn't get the dol guldur ambush set but i have the big dol guldur battle set and it connects perfectly with the witch king battle. Overall it looks great together. Quote
Risgrynsgrot Posted November 2, 2014 Posted November 2, 2014 So I caved in and got the Lonely Mountain set since I found it at a decent price, gonna wait and build it after I get my teeth drilled next week as a treat. So did any of you guys skip on any sets? I didn't get Riddles in the Dark because I would have gotten several Bilbos and a Gollum with a slightly different facial expression wasn't interesting. I also skipped on the Goblin Town set because I didn't like that part of the movie, nor the set (I did bricklink the dwarves tough) I'm also thinking about skipping the Mirkwood Elf Army set, it's incredibly overpriced here (around 60 bucks) and just bricklink Thranduil, since a generic wall doesn't seem interesting, it also didn't even appaer in the movies.. I skipped Goblin King Battle too, along with Barrel Escape. Sdly now I reaalize that I wnat after all my negative thoughts those setss but here is kinda hard to find them for decent price. Europe (at least Czech) is really expensive (for Lego) and almost everyone wants 20-30% add on to retail price so ... Mirkwood Elf army is really great armybuilder... Buy two or three...you will get tons of elves and wargs :) Quote

I was originally gonna pass on Riddles in the Dark, but I saw it before I thought it was out and realized I needed Bilbo ASAP. Quote
SandMirror38 Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 Does anyone have problems with their torso's wearing out? Having a look at my minifigures displayed I noticed that Thorin and Bilbo (Suspenders) had huge cracks on the side going from the bottom right up to where the connect to the arm Any ideas? Quote
Hammerhand Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 Yes, I also have had that happen to several of my LOTR/Hobbit minifigs. I was really ticked off that it happened to my 1 and only rohan soldier. It also happened to some of my uruk hai, and few others. I don't even play with them, it just happened. I wonder if I reported a broken piece on the lego site if I could get another rohan soldier... Quote
The Legonater Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 The only set I skipped out on was the Wizard Duel set, mainly because I already had Orthanc and the only difference was the Eye of Sauron piece. Quote
Steph 104th Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 I picked up all of wave 1. And then only Lake town in wave 2 and I plan on buying all of wave 3 Quote
TheLegoDr Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 I haven't seen my lotr figures wearing out, but I've had some marvel super heroes and star wars figures break. I had to jump through a few hoops to get anything replaced. You can try, but licensed sets make it difficult (and that's all I buy) Quote

Hypernova888 Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 So did any of you guys skip on any sets? I never "Skipped" on sets, I got as many as I could afford. I even got Wizard Battle, and then got another as a gift! XP Even though I never got Goblin King, I'm now REALLY considering it... Quote

XP Even though I never got Goblin King, I'm now REALLY considering it... I quite like it, most of all the goblins are great for army building. I already had 2 before I bought the set so I switched the torsos back to front and they make great variants, and still realistic for a goblin :) Quote
Slobey Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 (edited) If you're getting cracks in your hobbit figures, report it to lego and you will get a replacement. Being licensed figures they will require you to jump through a few hoops - I think I had to provide the unique code from my Goblin King Battle box to get a replacement torso for Nori. I've heard that if you do it several times, they tend to ignore you (even if it is legit...) Edited November 3, 2014 by Slobey Quote
