cullmancreations Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 Oh seriously sweet beause my Aragorn Legolas and one of my moria orcs is cracked and im not sure why they have Quote
deskp Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 Which may be a problem for me... its not very legit if you take the arms off, then its your fault if they crack. Quote
Hypernova888 Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 its not very legit if you take the arms off, then its your fault if they crack. I've never taken the arms off of my LotR figures, I've just posed them and stuff. Quote
Hammerhand Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 If you're getting cracks in your hobbit figures, report it to lego and you will get a replacement. Being licensed figures they will require you to jump through a few hoops - I think I had to provide the unique code from my Goblin King Battle box to get a replacement torso for Nori. I've heard that if you do it several times, they tend to ignore you (even if it is legit...) Which may be a problem for me... For me also, because I didn't keep the boxes. I've never taken the arms off though, so I'm good there. Quote
Hypernova888 Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 For me also, because I didn't keep the boxes. I've never taken the arms off though, so I'm good there. Usually they ask for a special ID thing that comes in the instructions. Quote
Sarah Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 Is it possible they were already planning the Jurassic World sets when designing Smaug? His torso might make a passable dinosaur of some kind. EDIT: Or it could just be for general playability purposes. They may have just appreciated the fact that a fair number of people will want to try sitting a minifigure on a dragon's back at some point. I'm certainly tempted to buy a Smaug to make a "How to Train your Dragon" takeoff. Quote
SandMirror38 Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 its not very legit if you take the arms off, then its your fault if they crack. I only did that on the Goblins cause I have doubles.. Please don't jump to conclusions. I actually take a lot of care of my Hobbit/LotR minifigures... Quote
K-Nut Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 Does anyone have problems with their torso's wearing out? Having a look at my minifigures displayed I noticed that Thorin and Bilbo (Suspenders) had huge cracks on the side going from the bottom right up to where the connect to the arm Any ideas? This has happened to me lots of times with varying themes (I've had about seven or eight Superhero figs crack along the torso. I have a Bo5A Bard torso on the way since my brand new one came cracked. My AUJ Thorin, Aragorn, and Legolas all cracked within a few months after getting them. I've managed to replace them all, though it took a little work. Quote
TeufelHund Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 I've had this happen a couple of times and TLG have always sent me out a replacement, no questions asked. Quote
SirBlake Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 I got the battle of five armies this weekend, and it's cool but dang, that dumb ballista takes too many bricks. The structure is just too small for the price. Quote
K-Nut Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 Agreed. It helps with the whole battle feel of the set, but I would have much preferred a larger Dale structure. For what it is, though, I feel that it's pretty well designed. Quote
Artanis I Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 (edited) I have at least 1 of all of the sets. Only polybag I have is the Elrond one. (You can't get them here anyway.) If I could find Barrels or Goblin Town again I would grab another, if the price was okay. I just imagined AFOLs all over the world giving Smaug a good old backrub with leather care Lotion in order to prevent his rubber wings from drying out. Of course, different lotions would be discussed in forums and different massage techniques. On bricklink, article descriptions would say "new and unused item, wings have been massaged regularly", because this would increase the Price it could fetch. AFOLs would then fall into two categories: rubberrubbers and nonrubberrubbers, the latter purists would promote the idea that the smaugrubbing method does indeed fit some definitions of customizing and is therefore to be frowned upon. Of course, third party customizer companies would quickly offer differently scented lotions with for example the new "burned city" or "seaside dragon massacre" scent. sahidko Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 I skipped on both big sets from Hobbit line (GKB and DGB) but i bought the minifigs from bricklink. At least i have two Gandalfs less than most of you. :D And i am going to pass on BOFA as well. Quote

Risgrynsgrot Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 DGB is great set..now while I have all three DG sets It looks really great.. Gandalf itself can be easily changed to yellow peasant/homeless guy :) I still think that DGB looks nothing like Dol Guldur, but it looks decent enough if you put it with DGA and the Witch-King battle. I got DGB for about 40 % off so I can't complain Quote
bachamn Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 (edited) Well, unfortunately I'm a completist so I've collected everything from the LotR and Hobbit releases, excepting Erebor and BotFA sets from wave 3 since I decided to wait until they undoubtedly go on sale. I'm holding onto at least one sealed copy of each of the polybags and have quite a few of the Lake Town Guards polys, and a handful of the Mirkwood Elves still unopened (I have 12 or so opened in my collection, I was a little obsessed with this polybag haha) I even bought one of the Moria orc keychains for my flash drive ;) Also, now I feel like I need to go check my figures for cracks. They've never been played with (and barely posed) but I'm getting the impression that this doesn't matter? Edited November 4, 2014 by bachamn Quote
K-Nut Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 DGB might not be the most accurate set design wise, but it's a very nice play set/facade when combine with the other two sets. That's really the only reason I even bothered with the $20 one last year. Also, now I feel like I need to go check my figures for cracks. They've never been played with (and barely posed) but I'm getting the impression that this doesn't matter? Not really. I've had figures I've barely touched but still had large cracks in them. Quote
Dragonlego27 Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 I like the Dol Guldur sets, and was pleasantly surprised when I first saw them and purchased them last year. They are good for displaying, have decent minifigures (except the Necromancer ), and you can see the Lego designers went into the effort of putting play features into them. Unfortunately, and this problem also extends to the Erebor set as well, is that they're just not three dimensional. This may sound odd, but if you have DGB then you might agree that the battlements are too small, the trapped rooms are almost pointless and the playability is limited. The problem is that the part of the structures we predominately saw in the films was primarily composed of bridges and stairs, so I half expected the sets to be several points, such as a Throne area and mine area linked by bridges with a set of stone stairs at the centre. With Dol Guldur I would have preferred two towers and a small wall area again linked by bridges with the area where Gandalf confronted the Necromancer at the centre. This design would look much more like the locations did in the films and make it easier to replicate the events of the films. I still really like the sets though . Quote
kevkipo Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 Still cant wait to see how the Battle Rams have turned out... the game has a lot of stuff to reveal! Quote
Dragonlego27 Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 I really hope the DLC is as epic as the actual Hobbit and LOTR games, with decent levels and interesting characters. With the rams, I hope they get added to the creatures you can ride through the hub, as well as Thranduil's stag. You're right Kevkipo, it does have a lot to show us. What the trolls would have looked like in Lego , all the armoured minifigures we didn't get and all the army factions (Elves, Dwarves, men and Orcs). Quote

Grey wall, and? personally even the WKB doesnt look like is from the same series.... You are supposed to pulll the two halves of WKB apart and sandwitch the WK part betwewn the DGB tower and DGA, and toss the catapult part. Kinda look weird initially, but i got used to it. Quote
Venkefedo Posted November 5, 2014 Posted November 5, 2014 The plants of WKB match DGB very well, even if the 'structure' looks a little out of place Quote
