I dont remember seeing Smaug in the trailer either. So the ballistas come from the Iron Hill dwarves? It makes me wonder how much TLG was shown before they designed the sets. Quote

I would have assumed they were Orcish, considering the box art and also the fact the Uruk-Hai use them. However, when you see them in the trailer, they definitely have that 'Dwarvish' look. Quote

Seaber Posted November 7, 2014 Posted November 7, 2014 Screencap of the Dwarves if people haven't seen it. And the Lego version https://c2.staticfli...60b80ee5c_b.jpg Nice looking ballista but not the greatest representation. Quote
deskp Posted November 7, 2014 Posted November 7, 2014 ^ don't think it was ever suppsoed to be representing that. Quote
Cagast Posted November 7, 2014 Posted November 7, 2014 They look similar so it is probably just a different represent of it Quote
Ardelon Posted November 7, 2014 Posted November 7, 2014 Hmm, if the LEGO ballista is really meant to represent the Dwarvish ballista, wouldnt the movie guys have old the designers its not meant to go with the Orcs on the box art? I meant they can voice their opinions on the LEGO renditions of their products, right? Maybe there is another so far unseen Orc ballista that the LEGO version is based on... And I would say its the ballista dwarfing the dwarves Quote
TheLegoDr Posted November 7, 2014 Posted November 7, 2014 If it is the dwarf ballista, then it makes sense the size in the set. No wonder the building is such a small piece count and the ballista so large. It is supposed to make the dwarves tiny in comparison. Quote
Seaber Posted November 7, 2014 Posted November 7, 2014 Maybe there is another so far unseen Orc ballista that the LEGO version is based on... I know we haven't seen much of the battle yet, but it seems the Orcs are more in favour of catapults mounted on Trolls. Not saying they can't have two sorts of ballistic devices, but I don't think an army in Middle-earth has had more than one before. (awaits being corrected aha) Isengard - ballista, Mordor - catapult, Gondor - trebuchet. Quote
legofreak86 Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 Agreed. I think they're both very young. They just don't get it. You're discussing a trailer in a thread about Lego sets. Maybe it's you who needs to calm down, and use some common sense as well. Try and appreciate the fact that some people, including myself, don't want potential plot lines spoiled for them. Firstly. I don't think dismissing someone (even jokingly) over their age is a respectful thing to do. Secondly, accusing someone of not using common sense when they clearly have sense is also a touch disrespectful and quite plainly rude. Thirdly, to be fair you were the one making a big fuss over this so telling him to calm down after he requests that you do the same is somewhat of a mute point. On the matter at hand, I don't think what everyone is doing is discussing the trailer itself. I certainly was commenting how from the trailer we can deduce that Lego planned all three Dol Guldur sets based on film 3 and the others were discussing how the movie was represented in Lego, judging by the trailer and what they would have been good to have in the wave. Then what exclusive figures would be good. Besides a trailer can in no way, shape or form be even construed as a spoiler and that is a fact. To be quite brutally honest i have studied film for over 3 years now at college/university and have learned a great deal about the film-making process and I can safely say an approved studio trailer is nowhere near representative of the plot itself. In fact a trailer that gives a lot away is highly discouraged in the industry. I mean its not like anyone has given away anything crucial to the plot that is not publicly available or hasn't been known for months. I understand that there is a topic for culture and multimedia but i think as this is the main forum for the hobbit in general on this site i think perhaps people may have forgotten themselves and posted here. A mistake is all, but again in all honesty what else is there Lego hobbit related for these people to talk about from 2014? The sets have all been released and the middle earth line is all but over. There is no more news of anything Lego Hobbit related so i am not at all surprised that trailer talk surfaces here (partially in reference to the sets). People are passionate about what they love and guidelines or not its bound to surface on a hobbit forum even if its function is Lego related news. Thats my take on this anyhow. Quote
Hypernova888 Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 I just listened to each sample of the tracks to BotFA, and Dain and the Iron hill's theme is AWESOME. Firstly. telaruhn Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 The new sets are on my wishlist for Christmas! I'll buy them even if I don't end up getting them :) The Battle of The Five Armies is a great set, if only for the balista. The building is a little disappointing, but the exploding feature looks cool, so it does have some appeal. Quote

Judging from pictures I don't see how they valued it so high, at least the lonely mountain set comes with a dragon, making it easier to swallow. Quote
kevkipo Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 (edited) I just listened to each sample of the tracks to BotFA, and Dain and the Iron hill's theme is AWESOME. I know right? Judging from pictures I don't see how they valued it so high, at least the lonely mountain set comes with a dragon, making it easier to swallow. So what it's a cool set, if he wants it let him get it On the Trailer ballista note, the only difference i see is that the trailer version has 2 wheels, while the Bofa version has 4. Not that that is a problem for me , you can just take the wheels off if needed... Edited November 8, 2014 by kevkipo Quote
legofreak86 Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 I too will probs be putting the remaining BO5A sets on my list ( i have the witch king battle) unless at brick 2014 the opposite of gold madness happens to me if i see the hobbit sets and have money... then again i still have some hobbit sets to catch up on like Lake Town Chase, Barrels, bag end, goblin town, e.t.c so they should distract me from the new ones til Christmas if i see them at brick 2014. I aim to get all the dwarves and sets of the hobbit by the end of the year. Thus far i have Riddles for the ring, attack of the wargs, Mirkwood spiders, Elven outpost thingy, Dol Guldur battle, ambush and witch king battle. Quote
Brick Fiend Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 to be fair you were the one making a big fuss over this so telling him to calm down after he requests that you do the same is somewhat of a mute point. I'm going to assume for the moment that you weren't actually following the thread particularly closely, as what I've quoted above from you isn't even remotely close to being accurate. Another poster, quite rightly in my opinion, pointed out that the conversation was unnecessarily moving into an area which was spoiling potential plot lines of the forthcoming film. This is the second time that this has happened recently. Not all of us want the film spoiled for us in advance. Another poster then shut down that persons opinion in what I consider to be not only a very rude, but very, very juvenile way. Perhaps you needed to read the thread a bit more closely before jumping to assumptions next time. I happen to agree with Artinas in this case. It's very disappointing that this is continuing to happen. Hopefully you'll feel that you're able to think about our opinions and consider our point of view in this. Quote
The Awesomnator Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 Wow. The trailer for The Hobbit looks awesome. Quote

Actually i have been following this discussion very closely and although a few people made minor mistakes by mentioning trailer footage and others continued this. There was nothing rude or juvenile about how Blazej Holen asked Artanis to calm down. He had clearly made a few typographical errors as spoiler is not spelt "spooler" and only is not spelt omly. I do not consider a couple of obvious accidental keyboard slip ups rude or juvenile, i simply consider them human error. The request to calm down was not directed in a rude way and contained no threatening or rude language so i do not fathom how you could see it this way. Now before this gets out of hand i certainly do acknowledge yours and artanis1's point of view entirely as i can see some would consider a trailer a spoiler. However what i do not understand is the disrespectful way that you replied to this poster both questioning his common sense, turning his request on him and dismissing his point of view due to your assumptions about his age. I was paying attention very closely to this thread and if you look back at page 191 at your comment you will see references to both age (even if jokingly), common sense and a repeat of the request he put to someone else. To be quite plain i am just trying to point out that although discussion of an official trailer without spoiler tags perhaps should not be something that is done here. Shooting someone down after they try to express their opinion of that debate then outright accusing them of being rude or juvenile when your reply to them was condescending in itself solves nothing and makes the situation worse. Then further accusing someone trying to point out that perhaps your reply was a bit sharp of making assumptions or not playing attention to the thread i.e me is also a waste of time because i have been following this thread closely for a good long while. So to sum up, although talking about publicly released material that some feel would spoil potential movie plot lines is a grey area and perhaps should be done with appropriate spoiler tags. Throwing accusations around and insulting (whether intentional or not) someone is not the right way to go about changing the situation. Politely pointing out the fact that it may spoil enjoyment would be a way to do it but eluding to loss of common sense and making a joke about someone's age is frankly disrespectful in my humble opinion. Especially when you misinterpret a mistake and declare that they spoke rudely when most likely they had a simple keyboard error when replying perhaps in haste. Thats my final word on the matter. If you don't agree with my analysis of this situation fair enough that's your opinion and you are entitled to it. However i have spoken only the facts as shown by the comments and claiming i have made assumptions is pointless. Just to be clear once again i really dislike calling out any mistakes or misinterpretations people make so this was quite uncomfortable for me and i'm sorry if any of my points are construed as disrespectful here. I have the highest regard for the EB community and all you LOTR/ Hobbit fans out there,i'm proud to be one of you. On topic. Someone brought up an interesting point on another forum the other day. They wondered what it would have been like if lego had given the wave a couple more sets due to its significance. So here's a question just out of curiosity: If you could have had a few more sets in this wave then what would you have liked to see from the wave character and set wise. Personally i'd have liked a Bolg, Flaming Sauron, Armoured elves, armoured Azog, Leather gettup thorin, Armoured Thranduil, DOS/BO5A casual legolas. Possibly a set of ravenhill (i presume that's what that outpost is) with Thorin (leather), Azog (armour), Bilbo(mithril), Legolas(casual)and Bolg, another smaller ruins of dale set with 4 elves, Thranduil and 2 orcs and one last Dol Guldur set with Flaming Sauron, Saruman, 3 nasgul and injured gandalf. What about everyone else? Edited November 9, 2014 by legofreak86 Quote

Also, this topic is about Lego Hobbit 2014 - which is going to involve the BOFA movie. The lego sets are "spoilers". You've got the witch king set, the BOFA set, both of which kind of "spoil" part of the plot. Quote
