Mr Breden Posted November 27, 2014 Posted November 27, 2014 (edited) could someone please describe the menas tirith that has recently reached 10000 votes on lego ideas? I can only find pictures witch are completly useless to me. It consists of three levels; the first one has the gates, the doors themselves are about the same size as the Helm's Deep ones (10 studs), On each side of the gate there are three wall wections, connected by hinges. They are very similar to the Urul-Hai Army ones, except white. The inside of the walls contain a staircase, an armoury and a small library. There is also a treebutchet on top of the walls. The second level is pretty much only there for looks, but contains another treebutchet. The third level is the top section with the White Tower, the entrance to the citadel and the courtyard, the White Tree is hovewer missing, apparantely because the builder couldn't figure out a way to have it look the part. There are 13 minifigures; Gandalf the White, Pippin, Denethor, Four Gondorian Soldiers, Gothmog, The Witch King and Four Orcs. Also included is an generic catapult, and a brickbuilt Fell Beast, smaller than Smaug but bigger than Shelob. I hope that was helpful to you Edited November 27, 2014 by Mr Breden Quote

sahidko Posted November 28, 2014 Posted November 28, 2014 Could someone please tell me what the witch king looks like and if he looks the same as he did in the lord of the rings films. I am blind and as I have heard people call this one the twilight version I am a little confused. Is this witch-king a lovesick teenage vampire? Guys your links to picture won't help. :) To Mr. Breden description i would just add that the scale of trebuchets is bit off --> the one standing on first level is higher than the wall itself. Quote
greenalfonzo Posted November 28, 2014 Posted November 28, 2014 The only things really lacking are Grond, and the unique helmets for the Gondor soldiers. It uses the classic nasal guard helmet in silver instead, with silver breastplates, and nice black shields with the tree design. Maybe make Grond, the battering ram instead of the generic catapult for the orc army? The trebuchet's have really nice designs, they look like they could really fling stones at the orcs. I like the fact that for the gate, he made two tower battlements on either side of the gate that project outward far enough so you can stand a guard on top of each one to shoot down on anyone that approaches the door. He also did a nice job by making several furnished rooms accessible from the back. There's a vaulted throne room, with a table where Denethor can eat, a tomb room with a pyre for burning Faramir/Denthor, a scroll room with a torch and table and maps for research, a 'buttery,' with a little table and a turkey and goblet and some kegs. There's a space for the white tree in the courtyard at the top, but no tree. The tower at the top that would hold the palatir is solid, so there are no actual rooms in it. Also, the building with the door at the top courtyard is just a facade without a room behind it as well. If you looked at a picture of the whole structure without minifigs on it, you'd think that it is much bigger, and was maybe made for figure half the height of standard minifigs, which in my mind, is a very good achievement for such a massive town/fortress. The-Nexu Posted November 28, 2014 Posted November 28, 2014 thanks for describing the set to those who described the set! It was verry helpfull! Quote
Dragonlego27 Posted November 28, 2014 Posted November 28, 2014 Wow, thanks for the link, Blazej Holen :) I hadn't seen those videos yet. Pretty epic! Was Bolg wielding a giant flail at one point? Another reason Lego never made him, we would never stopped moaning about the terrible accuracy of his weapons. Nice to see Galadriel do something which doesn't involve making out with Gandalf. I can't wait to see the what I'll call "little fiery mishap at Dol Guldur" to avoid spoilers. Quote

Steph 104th Posted November 29, 2014 Posted November 29, 2014 Seeing the images its a pity we didn't get more dwarves this wave, their battle armour looks much better than their original attire in my opinion. Quote
Dragonlego27 Posted November 29, 2014 Posted November 29, 2014 (edited) Thanks for the pics Kevikpo! Can anyone tell me what creature Dainty is riding on the previous page? I have no clue. After re-watching the trailer several times and pausing it at the flail part, I admit Kevikpo's right, it is Azog. Sorry, my mistake, they do look very alike. I'll now change the flail from the "many reasons we didn't get Bolg" discussion to the " really to many things the new Azog doesn't have" discussion. It's a shame we didn't get Bolg's black warg either. Edited November 29, 2014 by Dragonlego27 Quote
