Zilcho Posted December 16, 2014 Posted December 16, 2014 Hey guys, What sets do you think we would have got if there were only 2 movies? Quote
Steph 104th Posted December 17, 2014 Posted December 17, 2014 I think we would have lost the Dol Guldur sets. Quote
Hypernova888 Posted December 17, 2014 Posted December 17, 2014 (edited) Got back a littke while ago fron seeing the film...I'll write more later, but I'll just say that the Attack on Lake-Town set is WAY more accurate than I thought! I actually reacted out loud in the theatre when the pieces started coming together. I think we would have lost the Dol Guldur sets. I think we would have lost the Dol Guldur setS, and only have gotten one. I also expect MEA would have been cut. Edited December 17, 2014 by Hypernova888 Quote

wesker Posted December 17, 2014 Posted December 17, 2014 I think we definitely would have lost one of the three Dol Guldur sets, along with one of Lake-Town. Quote
Robert_88 Posted December 17, 2014 Posted December 17, 2014 I haven't seen the third movie yet but I've already seen the new Lego catalogue (January-June 2015). And the new Hobbit sets are NOT in the catalogue! :( Quote
Blakstone Posted December 17, 2014 Posted December 17, 2014 The new Hobbit sets never made it to any of the Walmarts I frequent. Only the two smallest sets ever made it to a Target or the Toys R Us that I frequent. I don't expect this wave to last long. Quote
Balbo Posted December 17, 2014 Posted December 17, 2014 (edited) Wow, that image is awesome . The Erebor section in the background looks fantastic... Edited December 17, 2014 by Balbo Quote
Steph 104th Posted December 17, 2014 Posted December 17, 2014 Wow, that image is awesome . The Erebor section in the background is fantastic... It does look great, but why did they choose Erebor over Dol Guldur for the baddies. Quote
Balbo Posted December 17, 2014 Posted December 17, 2014 (edited) It does look great, but why did they choose Erebor over Dol Guldur for the baddies. I think TLG wants to promote the current Erebor set - the older Dol Guldur sets are running out so they don't need to promote them anymore Edited December 17, 2014 by Balbo Quote

BrickTamland Posted December 17, 2014 Posted December 17, 2014 After watching the the movie its even more of a shame we didn't get armoured elves, and dwarves, but still not as bad an omission as soldiers of Gondor were to the LotR sets. Quote
The_Chosen_1 Posted December 17, 2014 Posted December 17, 2014 ^ I totally agree. Definitely a missed opportunity not to have some cool army builder minifigs. Quote
Flieger Posted December 18, 2014 Posted December 18, 2014 ^ I totally agree. Definitely a missed opportunity not to have some cool army builder minifigs. Perhaps. But at least they got the main figures covered this time. No missing Witch King. The minifigs are probably the greatest thing about the Hobbit sets. The builds don't appeal to me as much as the minifigs and seem rather uninspired if not downright bad. If feel they could have done a lot better with Dol Guldur for example, especially considering you can combine three sets. But the combination just looks bad. For me as someone who buys Lego for the builds, the Hobbit sets were mostly a disappointment in the later waves. But the minifigs are almost flawless. And to be fair, The Hobbit is more about a company on adventure than about great armies clashing like LotR. Still I also miss my legion of Dwarves, fully armed and filthy... The new Hobbit sets never made it to any of the Walmarts I frequent. Only the two smallest sets ever made it to a Target or the Toys R Us that I frequent. I don't expect this wave to last long. It is the same in my country. Curious. You'd think that the Smaug-set would be a big draw and a perfect Christmas present. Quote
greenalfonzo Posted December 18, 2014 Posted December 18, 2014 Totally agree BrickTamland. Armored Elves and Gondor soldiers are the worst misses for BOTFA and ROTK movie sets. Quote
Hypernova888 Posted December 18, 2014 Posted December 18, 2014 I expected to feel like I wanted dwarven soldiers and such after the film, but I still don't mind too much. I DEEPLY wish that Dain had been done with a little more love, though. And I'd have mega loved a good Ravenhill set...those scenes still...haunt me? They were...ach! Brilliant film. I'm getting the BofA set soon, and I'd like to attempt a boar, as I think it'd make the Dain figure a bit more imposing, so I'd love to see any attempts you guys have made! (Kev, looking at you!) Um, "cough, Bolg, cough" I understand why the Witch King is important (Fell Beast and helmet) but Bolg actually probably had more screentime. Quote

I'd like to see a full picture...not to STEAL it, per se, but...well...I could share with you my design for Thrandy's elk... Speaking of The Elvenking, I may just end up putting him in the Dale set instead of MEA. Quote
BrickBob Studpants Posted December 18, 2014 Posted December 18, 2014 The combination of both the lack of advertisement in the latest consumers catalogue and the complete and utter absence of any news about the supposed videogame DLC is rather disturbing... Looks like TLG gave up on the theme altogether, now we probably won't get anything else beyond this point (probably not even a DK book ). One simple polybag could fill the biggest gap, but apparently there's no incentive for TLG to do so Quote
The Brick King Posted December 18, 2014 Posted December 18, 2014 Okay, saw the BotFA on Tuesday night at the advance showing; in short, it was the best Hobbit installment and a fantastic close to the Middle Earth movies. I cried at the ending. Anyway, haven't gotten any of the sets yet (Should I?) but I am noticing the distinct lack of any armored Thranduil. Lee Pace did a great job as him, and we just need more Thranduil. Also, we need Bolg. He was very key in DoS and in BotFA (One of the saddest and best parts was caused by him). And that's all for now. P.S. Did anyone else think Dain looked CGI? Quote
Dragonlego27 Posted December 18, 2014 Posted December 18, 2014 P.S. Did anyone else think Dain looked CGI? Yes, weirdly I did. Glad I'm not the only one who thought that. I think it was the mix of his armour and beard. Still, he was my favourite character in the entire film, if only for what he said at the start if the film. Quote
