Hypernova888 Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 Even though it's not the greatest, I'm 100% getting that Blu-ray. I've gotten every other of The Hobbit like this one, figures and all. It's actually what I'm going for for my birthday. Quote
Balbo Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 that isnt the deal. Also.. they got plenty of blue bard to go around It depends on the viewpoint.... In my opinion Bard is just a unexpected bonus. Just take a look at the blue Bilbo target exclusive minifigure from AUJ. The cheapest one on bricklink is now 45,99 $ (without shipping). I'm sure Bain will do the same and the price will increase more and more. So getting the Bo5A DVD with a blue Bard and a exclusive Bain figure for 26,99 $ isn't a bad deal in my viewpoint Quote
Flieger Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 I recently got The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies, Chronicles: Art & Design. Besides being a very nice book, it explains a lot of the design choices of Lego which struck me as being odd even after the movie. Balin's axe for example (which could not be seen well in the movie because of the lighting) is supposed to be of translucent jade/greenstone with a partially gilded handle. Of course Lego's representation of that is excellent. Likewise, Dain's axe was made of translucent red stone. And considering the book does not even mention a warhammer, it is very likely PJ changed it last minute. (Damn CGI-only character!). Quote

bachamn Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 decided to go ahead and buy lonely mountain. Amazon Prime got them back in at MSRP so I went ahead with it rather than missing out on it and having to pay more at TRU (not to mention the added tax). Can't wait to finally get my hands on Smaug and get the final pieces of a complete Tolkien LEGO collection :) Quote
bachamn Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 (edited) And after a few hours of building, here it is. Can't really say I understand why there were so many gripes about this set. I think it's fantastic! Also makes a perfect display for The Company. Also, my set was missing one 2x1 sand-green brick. Has anyone else ever experience this before? I've never had a LEGO set with a missing piece before. I was building on a clean table and dumping bags out into bowls, but I still looked everywhere around the table and double checked the bags and am positive it was not included. Will LEGO send me a replacement brick if I contact them? Seems silly but it's noticeable (you can see the lower pillar just to the right of Bofur) Edited January 29, 2015 by bachamn Quote
KristofBD Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 They will send you a replacement, quickly and without questions. The costumer service is excellent. Quote

The costumer service is excellent. yeah I actually just came back to edit that out of my post haha. I already found the form on their website and submitted the request. The 'select which pieces' format was very easy and well-thought out. I'm very impressed by their website all around, to be honest. Quote
AFOLguy1970 Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 Bachamn, Very nice photo with all of the company in there. I have all mine crammed into Bag End. My only gripe about LM is the price, but indeed it is a nicely designed set with a lot of good features, colors, and the best dragon in Lego form. Quote
Blakstone Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 I have only once found a set without a needed piece. That was the green ball joint on the Lex Luthor Mech. But I have long suffered for missing a piece in an "empty" bag or using the wrong piece somewhere down the line. I think we had all down that. I bought that Lex Luthor set on clearance so I did not bother to request a replacement part. Quote
Hypernova888 Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 So, LEGO's doing a sequel video game for Marvel, and a new one for Jurassic park, but they have one question to answer: WHAT ABOUT BOTFA?!?! =( Quote
BrickBob Studpants Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 So, LEGO's doing a sequel video game for Marvel, and a new one for Jurassic park, but they have one question to answer: WHAT ABOUT BOTFA?!?! =( Probably down the drain, if it was ever truly planned to be released anyway. I don't think we ever got an official confirmation, as far as I remember it was reported by brickfanatics.co.uk at last year's London Toy Fair, and that's it... Quote
TheLegoDr Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 It is pretty obvious Hobbit was not a money maker for LEGO, so they probably have scrapped a lot of things. They didn't put their best effort forward..very peculiar. Quote

Dragonlego27 Posted January 30, 2015 Posted January 30, 2015 I got my Lonely Mountain set the other day and I have to agree, it's a beautiful set. The minifigures ate flawless and Erebor as a whole works perfectly. Smaug is the best part of the set for me though. I never realised just how articulated, posable and playable he was. 10/10 for sure. I just wonder how TLG will fill in the huge void the ME sets will leave behind. Quote
Blazej_Holen Posted January 30, 2015 Posted January 30, 2015 I love Lonely mountain, and thanks to God I ĺll manage to buy one from my friend from Lego store for decent price :) Quote
AFOLguy1970 Posted January 30, 2015 Posted January 30, 2015 FYI, Dol Guldur Ambush is now on sale for $11.98 on the US site. It is currently out of stock with a 12 February ship date. It looks like this will be gone soon, so army builders and MOC enthusiasts take note. Quote

I think he's brilliant. *Sigh* I wish that it wasn't true, but it's most likely that BotFA won't get to see a video game... =( Quote
Bobbtom Posted January 30, 2015 Posted January 30, 2015 haha I know right? as soon as I realized I could manipulate him into a "super villain hang-wringing pose" I was sold. ;) I'm waiting on a sale to get the Lonely Mountain or 2x points. After watching the movie I just knew that I wanted to get the BOFA sets. Though for $130 I can wait. Quote

I've checked now several sides about the Hobbit 3 DLC and they all refered to brick fanatics - but there was never a official confirmation from TT games or TLG. I've not noticed that before Edited January 30, 2015 by Balbo Quote

Balbo Posted January 30, 2015 Posted January 30, 2015 So no BOTFA? . That's so...stupid, well it's not full! It's all just speculation. But the lack of information and the fact that the latest Hobbit sets disappeared so quickly and aren't advertised in the latest Lego catalogue is not a good sign for the DLC Quote
