My pre-ordered copy of BotFA should arrive tomorrow, (Bain figure and all) and I'm thinking of recreating the war signals of Azog once I get it. What are you guys thinking of creating when you get ahold of the film?

So I just got the Blu-Ray Combo pack with the 2 minifigures and the new Bain is really cool!

He has a exclusive reverse head print which is an angry version of his happy face but without all the soot etc.:classic:

Very nice minifigure.. Also another Bard is nice but I might just resell it

I've used the stills and a couple videos to MOC the bell tower in Lake-town. It's not very good, but it works well with my custom display. I've also created a custom 2-story house (from my own imagination, based on the Lake-town Chase one), and a gatehouse that I didn't look at the movie for. I also turned the jail in Lake-town Chase into a proper armory and the armory in that set into a market stall with stairs leading up and around to the bell tower. I also replaced the small silver bell with a large golden one and added some Atlantis gold fish to look like the ones sticking out the corners. I'm interested in expanding my display a bit more, and adding some more boats and the like.

Ooh! I'd love to see them.

I think this might help you Nova: Attack the City!

Woah! I love it. I was hoping someone else would have done it!

Wait-really?! I haven't put my figure on display yet, and haven't taken the hair off. That makes me pretty happy! It's a shame Bard doesn't have a new alternate. ;)

I can try to post some pictures in a week or so. I'm getting The Lonely Mountain tomorrow, but I still need Bofur for the Lake-town scene. Also, I need to add railings to the bell tower. I got BotFA today with the minifigures, and Bain is perfect! I love his faces! I switched his orange hair out with a brown one I found in my collection. I can't wait to make my Lake-town Attack stop motion!

What style of hair did you use for Bain instead? I have the Frodo's Cooking Polybag, so I switched Bain's orange hair with Frodo's dark brown hobbit hair, and it looks better, though I'm not sure how accurate it is. Perhaps the hobbit hair in regular brown, like Pippin has, would look better, but I only have five Frodo minifigures and only one Pippin.

I used the same style but in brown. It came off of a minifigure my friend gave me, I think it's the Lego Club guy. He had a torso with a birthday cake on it? That's all I know. Sorry if it wasn't very helpful!

That's perfectly helpful, I know what you're talking about. It's Ron Weasley's in neutral brown.

While the Hobbit's hair would work well, I still think Luke Skywalker's Tatooine hairpiece in dark brown would be perfect:

Yeah, that would be perfect! Too bad they didn't use it. I got The Lonely Mountain today! It looks amazing, but sadly I'm not allowed to build it until I've sold 2 more items on BrickLink. As soon as it's built, I'll put Smaug in my Lake-town display and upload pictures.

Luke Skywalker's hair would be the ideal choice, but it has only been released in tan so far. It's a shame that LEGO instead decided to use an existing part what is pretty inaccurate.

Unfortunately, Ron Weasley's hair in reddish brown has only ever been used on promotional minifigures, so it's not too easy to get.

deskp has an album on flickr with suggestions for innacutate hair moulds used on licensed minifigures, which suggests using Pippin's hair for Bain.

Yeah, I know all of this. It's all been suggested before, even on this thread. I'm just surprised that by now, no one's modded a Luke Skywalker hair to be brown, just for whatever minifigure. At least, not that I've found.

I'm aware that most of it had been mentioned before, I just thought I would congregate it into one place.

I have no idea why LEGO ever thought that Bain's hair would be orange, it seems completely ridiculous.

If I had a Luke Skywalker hair piece, I'd spray paint it brown. Too bad I don't have one :hmpf_bad:

Why so many Bards yet no Alfrid? Not that I like him, but besides Bolg he's the only main or secondary character not represented. He could've been in one of the 2 sets (or disc) instead of another Bard.

I have an army of Bards, Thorins, Legolases, Gimlis, Aragorns, Gandalfs...

I guess because it's simply easier to re-release an existing character multiple times than design an entirely new one which may require new moulds.

Don't forget Frodos

I find it interesting that both things shown so far have Warner Brothers ties or are part of Lego/WB partnerships. Which leads me to suspect it is something media related ala TV or Movie or game tie in, and not signs of a new theme.

Yeah, but what I'm saying is that it's for the rumored toys-to-life game, so you know they'll be selling the LOTR minifigures separately.

I believe we will rather get a Lego Friends Abortion Clinic than new LOTR minifigures...

I'm a huge fan of this theme but I don't expect anything else anymore.
