Darth Punk Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 So far we have only heard from 2 sources that have been at legos booth. I think the "poblem" with lack of info is that noone interested have gone there yet. Once people who cares goes to see we can get confirmation weather hobbit is there or not. 3 lego specific websites went to london toy fair. so far zero has gone to nuremberg. Yes there is that too. There may be less enthusiasm for some to go since the London fair just ended. If we,do hear anything this weekend is the most likely. Quote
BrickBob Studpants Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 (edited) 4 days in and we still don't know if the sets are even displayed There's still hope though: German blogger Michael Friedrichs ( www.promobricks.de ), who has brought us the first pics of the Trevi Fountain, hasn't finished his coverage yet He states on twitter that the Star Wars sets and Simpsons CMs will officially be revealed at the NYTF but interestingly, he doesn't mention neither the Hobbit nor the Superheroes sets. This leaves several options: A) They simply weren't there (which would be weird since both LOTR waves were present in the previous two Toy Fairs in Nuremberg), B) He wasn't allowed to see them, C) He forgot to mention them in his tweet or most unlikely D) pictures will be posted ...yeah, scratch the last one, it's probably A) Edited January 31, 2014 by Lego-Freak Quote

Faefrost Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 Are pictures of any other TABA toys showing up from Nurenberg? Don't forget there is a movie comming. New Line may be keeping the stuff out of the toy fairs to avoid accidental spoilers and reveals. Quote

The action figures have pretty much given up so wouldnt expect to see them anywhere. there isnt really alot of other toys based on the hobbit movies. just some vinyl figures and perhaps some plushies, Those usualy show up at random times, not a toy fair product really. Mahtion Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 (edited) That is another issue, lack of Bridge Direct action figures. It seems like LOTR merchandise was better handled and widely more available. I have no idea why the action figures are being released at a slow rate. I doubt that this is related to Lego's lack of showcasing sets but it makes you wonder what is going on. I would take Lego over Bridge Direct any day based on what they have produced for the fans/customers. Edited January 31, 2014 by Mahtion Quote
azog15 Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 The only reason I got into the LEGO Hobbit sets is because TBD didn't deliver what us fans wanted. Quote
Deathleech Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 ToyBiz probably did the best job with their LotR action figure line. They covered every main character, secondary character, even extremely minor characters. They also did several alternate costumes for most characters. Quote

Bet there won't be any TABA figures. I love D give me D... That sounds seriously wrong. Edited January 31, 2014 by Tolkien Quote

Andeh Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 (edited) It's surprising no one who went to the fair has mentioned The Hobbit yet. I would expect a big franchise such as Middle Earth would have more coverage... Edited January 31, 2014 by Andeh Quote
Deathleech Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 It's surprising no one who went to the fair has mentioned The Hobbit yet. I would expect a big franchise such as Middle Earth would have more coverage... Ya, it's really strange. AUJ made over a billion dollars and DoS is almost at 1 billion but they are treated like direct to video films when it comes to merchandise. I wonder what the deal is. Quote
Faefrost Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 Ya, it's really strange. AUJ made over a billion dollars and DoS is almost at 1 billion but they are treated like direct to video films when it comes to merchandise. I wonder what the deal is. Lego has probably done the best selling toy merchandise from the Hobbit. Most of the rest of the Hobbit toys tanked. This is the same reason that we have seen almost no Thor 2 toys. The THor 1 toys sold very badly. whereas the Iron Man 1,2 and 3 toys have earned an almost perpetual spot on toy shelves alongside Batman and Spiderman. and this is the huge hurdle we face when hoping for more Middle Earth Lego sets. Without the movies to tie into the only merchandise Middle Earth sells well are mainly books, calenders and D&D type roleplaying games. Heck I think Games Workshop took a pounding on their Hobbit gaming miniatures. Quote

azog15 Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 I wish they were still around, they're figures were kick-megablocks. Are we not aloud to say a double s? Quote
Deathleech Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 too much non lego talk Well its either talk about how much we want a Gondor set for the millionth time, talk about the very little Hobbit info we have (which could very well be totally wrong), or not discuss anything at all. Quote
kevkipo Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 AUJ figures sold terribly. There were only three DOS figures. Bet there won't be any TABA figures. That sounds seriously wrong. No that i read it back... Yes. excuse me Im expecting it this weekend (i mean the news) a lot of Deutsch people are free this weekend and i guess a lot of people say "Hey lets go to Toy Fair! Bradwurst!" so that probably means that people who work in week days will go to Toy Fair this weekend, this also means Hobbit fans! Quote
Andeh Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 What other toy or brick fairs, besides from the one in London and Nuremberg is there? Hopefully we can get more info, and possibly pictures then. Quote
BrickBob Studpants Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 (edited) @kevkipo: Yeah, but there's one catch though: the Nuremberg Toy Fair is not a public event, you need to be involved in the toy business in order to gain access This slims the chance of Hobbit/LOTR fans attending quite significantly @Andeh: The most important Toy Fair is the one in New York, starting Feb 16th This is the only one that doesn't have any photo restrictions I highly recommend keeping an eye on the fbtb flickr channel once it starts, they always provide great pictures Edited February 1, 2014 by Lego-Freak Quote
