So in that case promotional items are good for the final Hobbit film. It would be odd to keep the polys for LOTR unless they really wanted to get people excited for its return in 2015.

Well they are promotional items, but I get the feeling Lego doesn't really go overboard with them or care too much except in some cases like with the Lego Movie where they made several. But in that case they made tons of sets in the first wave, a few D2C, and a CMF series so everything was over done besides just the polybags and none of it's the norm with other lines. I mean most of the time the polybags aren't even available all over the world, and even the places they are available the distribution is limited or spotty at best.

As for why release the LotR polys with the third wave... maybe to space them out? If we got the polybags in both second waves that would mean we wouldn't get anymore for the final two waves which is at least a year and a half worth of sets. They also could relate better to the third LotR wave or be too similar to something we get in the second? For instance releasing a Mirkwood Elf Guard polybag when you have the MEA set in the same wave would cannibalize each other's sales. At the same time though, releasing a Uruk-hai poly in the second LotR wouldn't make sense cause he wouldn't really go with any of the sets in that wave. They might of also put the polybags in the cheaper of the two waves to help keep the overall prices similar. If you have a wave like the second Hobbit where the sets only total $170 vs the second LotR wave where they total $203 people are probably going to be less likely to pick up the polys in the more expensive wave because they want to save their money for the normal sets.

I have no idea the actual reason, these are just some possibilities I can think of.

It's not funny to make jokes of Brain Tumor's!

It's a metal plate and you know that! if you want to be a little kid and make fun of a very bad disease then go somewhere else!

If someone in your family had Cancer you would talk a little different!

I am sorry if the wording of my post offended you. It was not a joke. I was under the assumpion he had suffered from a brain tumor because of a website that had gotten a picture of Bolg in 2012 and thought he had worn the medal bar because he had experienced a tumor. Again, I apoligize if I offended you. Can we go back to talking about the sets now?

My suspicion poly bag will be Dol Guldur Orc and Dain/Thorin.

Second guess Iron Hill Dwarf and Bolg/Azog

I agree with these guesses, though I would replace Bolg/Azog with Bard, since so far the unique characters in polybags have been heroes, IIRC.

The Hobbit pre-order bonus:

http://www.thebrickf...bonus-revealed/

Old Bilbo in pyjama, WHOopi AWESOME :sarcasm_hmpf:

No not to sound disappointed and to bash the fig but hey they could had done something better.

Like the Elrond fig is awesome, the Iron Patriot (yes I know wrong theme and thread but) fig is awesome, even the Western Emmett fig is cool. So why give us another Bilbo even though I know it is an old Bilbo but I expected an known character in the Elrond fig style. :sceptic:

Agreed. While the torso print is sorta fun in a vacuum, they could have gone with a more imaginative fig. Look at the exclusive for the lego movie, I think that one is pretty creative and fun. Oh well, not a huge deal and its something real to talk about.

Be great for An Unexpected Slumber party moc. Though it would be better if he had a pipe to smoke, and yes i know that would never happen, just saying. It's nice, not thrilling but nice. It certainly is not going to compel me to buy from GameStop.

That Bilbo is a gorgeous fig! Arm printing and everything! Sure, they could've chosen something better (Thror or Azanulbizar Thorin), but its still a great fig.

I don't think it's an "old" version of Bilbo. His hair is the same color as normal Bilbo. Unless you mean old like from a previous movie, in which case I'd agree that you were right.

Although not what I was hoping for, it doesn't really surprise me that it's another Bilbo. I will most definitely be picking one up regardless! The arm printing is wonderful. Correct me if I'm wrong, but that version of Bilbo would be the only LOTR or Hobbit figure with arm print, right? Could that be hinting at something for future figures in this next Hobbit wave, or theoretical final LOTR wave?

I will get it but not reall something that excites me, could have been so much better like an old Bilbo would have worked

this just makes me think I need blue coat Bilbo for the set and there is no way to get that

I hope so! maybe Dain or someone else will need serious arm printing? (Or Iron Hillers?)

I can understand people's frustrations regarding the pre-order bonus minifigure, but I actually really like the new variation of Bilbo. It means that I can add this design to my collection and I will eventually have:

Bilbo - Shire (beige shirt)

Bilbo - Regular (red coat)

Bilbo - Target Exclusive (blue coat)

Bilbo - Pre-Order Bonus (brown dressing gown)

I currently have every LEGO The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit set and minifigure, with the exception of the comic con exclusives and polybag 30215, which I'm pretty pleased with as being in the UK means not every product is directly available. Fingers crossed the Legolas Greenleaf polybag becomes globally available very soon!

As cool as that's be, I doubt it'd be on and solider, it'd be to expensive to produce on a large scale. I could see a more prominent figure with arm printing though. But that's just me being hopeful. It would kind of ruin the pattern though and make them stick out more.

Search on eBay, that's where I acquired mine. I'm from the UK and I bought it from an Australian seller so it cost me a little bit but it's so worth it! However, I'm a completionist so I'm slightly obsessive when it comes to this sort of thing.

Yeah, being a completionist sometimes really hurts right in the wallet, I've just bought blue coat Bilbo from a bricklink seller in Ireland (along with Clark Kent and Celebration Darth Vader, all of which were not released in Switzerland for some reason :hmpf_bad: ). The videogame preorder Bilbo looks spot-on, hopefully this one will be regularly available here  Now we only need the dark blue DOS coat (which will assumably be included in the Erebor set) and our Bilbo army is complete
