Floundie Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 I think it's strange that Bilbo hasn't got bare feet in the box art. The LotR game showed Merry and Pippin bare feet. Although it's just splitting hairs. Funny, now that you mention it, he doesn't have bare feet in the trailer either. Quote
BrickBob Studpants Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 My worst fear is if his jaw is non posable. I think it'll be posable since all LEGO dragons I can think of have a movable jaw Maybe Bilbo lacks hobbit feet in the game because of the relatively light colour of his pants? The Hobbits in LOTR all had brown pants as opposed to dark tan ones, so maybe it wouldn't stick out enough? Quote
kevkipo Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 So is this a great start of the weekend or not? :D Smaug will look so good! and now that we've seen this, i really expect the sets Sunday Yayzers :D Quote
Cammo Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 Smaug will look so good! and now that we've seen this, i really expect the sets Sunday Hopefully... but I fear that we will only get 1 'official' reveal like Guardians of the Galaxy line. Quote

Fives Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 That Smaug looks AWESOME!!!!! I feared that it would the same size as the current Castle dragon, but from what I can see, he'll be decently larger than that. His head kinda looks weird, and I think its because he has a longer horn right in the middle of his horn crown, rather than the two longer ones in the movie that kinda look like ears. Also, I love how they seem to have incorporated a Hero Factory style ball joint where his wings connect. That will make playability WAY better! Bravo, LEGO! You've impressed me again! Quote
coolguy2323 Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 Smaug looks awesome! Can't wait for the set. However I will not be buying that video game - i am not paying full price for only 2/3 of the game. I would have happily waited till after TABA to play the whole game. Who knows, they may be releasing a combined game after that, but for now, color me dissapointed. Quote
kevkipo Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 As we've seen a GOTG set, i believe that they will show us The Hobbit! Maybe 1 set? Maybe more? We do know (as i've read the Super Heroes forum) that the full line of 3 GOTG sets will be shown at Toy Fair Surprise Surprise the Milano was their hint, Our hint was Smaug The rest you can figure out yourself Quote
Floundie Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 (edited) Oh my bad, I thought you meant a reveal of just one set from the wave like Lake Town was revealed. What do you guys suppose the sneak preview is going to be? However I will not be buying that video game - i am not paying full price for only 2/3 of the game. What do you guys suppose the sneak preview is going to be? The third film will be DLC in december. My guess would be a licensed set, as we saw Lego Movie, Chima, Ninjago, Friends, and City at Nuremberg This will probably be the Erebor set or one of the new Marvel sets (X-men and GOTG) Don't expect it will be the Milano We saw him, basically we are going to see all the GOTG sets, thats confirmed. So that keeps only one slot open (As we will also see the X-men set) The Hobbit There and Back again set: 7018 (i believe ) Erebor as they always want to show the biggest set Edited February 14, 2014 by kevkipo Quote
Deathleech Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 (edited) Smaug looks pretty good, but if he was a molded piece I was expecting him to look almost spot on. The real issue I was worrying about is his size. It's hard to tell from the picture but he appears to be a decent size? I am sure Lego will give him a moveable jaw and we can already see the ball jointed wings so he will have tons of flexibility. Now just to see if he is a decent size or if he is super condensed to the point he looks silly. The Hobbit There and Back again set: 7018 (i believe ) Erebor as they always want to show the biggest set Actually they have always shown the second biggest set. Goblin King Battle and Dol Guldur Battle were the biggest sets when they showed An Unexpected Gathering and Lake-town Chase. Edited February 14, 2014 by Deathleech Quote
AFOLguy1970 Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 I like the look of the Smaug image. It is certainly different than the castle dragon and seems large enough to serve the purpose. Since the image is from the video game, are we sure that this will match the actual version that comes out in Lego? Quote
Almaras22 Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 Judging by the Mirkwood spiders in the background that look pretty identical to the ones in the set, I'd say this is the Smaug we're getting - or very close to it, otherwise why go to the trouble of including details such as the ball joint? And I agree that the size on the poster looks pretty decent, but again look at the spiders and the figs around them - they are much bigger than they are in the actual set. I hope I'm proven wrong, but Smaug could be smaller than he is shown here. Quote

kevkipo Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 what are these hints you talk about. or rather where from? who posted hints These are just my toughts i will put it like this: On Friday February 14th we got 2 different "Hints" 1. The Milano (GOTG) 2. Game Cover (Smaug) (The Hobbit) A few seconds later we heard that ALL the GOTG sets will be shown at Toy Fair NY 2014 So the Milano was a hint for Marvelites that they will show the sets at Toy Fair Now our hint was... SMAUG, if they don't want to show the sets at Toy Fair why did they show Smaug then? and also if they dont want to spoil anything from TABA They can still show Erebor and Lake-town That's my theory Quote

That said I too think the game cover reveal is indicating we'll se atleast some hobbit stuff at toy fair. Quote
Almaras22 Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 One of the Spiders is actually made bigger, he is not in the set Looks like the same build to me, the image has just been enlarged - the tooth piece is bigger than the torso, that's not built bigger (with more pieces) it's just bigger. Legoman123 Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 If that is how Smaug is going to look then I have absolutely no complaints about it. Quote
Wardancer Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 A very good dragon. But it Looks like it was not mountable. I need to sell my hungarian horntail... Quote
kevkipo Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 The ball jointed wings are great. I wonder since they released this image if that means they are ready to reveal Smaug for the set? It would be a nice reveal for NY. As me and Deskp already said, this could mean that we will get to see the Smaug set Quote
