deskp Posted April 8, 2014 Posted April 8, 2014 Also, I know you probably meant it in a different way, but to say that what Tolkien did doesn't matter in a thread about the Hobbit is blaspheme ;) Tolkien is the first part in the chain, but by the time it reaches lego he doesen't matter anymore. If tolkien says smaug is green, but PJ says he's blue. It would not matter to lego what tolkien said, they would make him blue. Quote

Smeagol314 Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 Depending on what Thorin we are going to get in the next wave, this is the lake town version. Oh, and Balin and Kili as well! Quote
kevkipo Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 The packaging of all sets Lego: 9-14 Lego is based for Kids you know - thats what you type, so acording to this I asumed that you think thats its ok to make a dragon based on movie to loke like childisch fairy dragon from some "neverending tale" or whatever :) I am not somebody who thinks that lago is limited by age but you put it that way in your post. I didnt twist anything, i just wrote that THAT DRAGON on a poster looks weird, becouse of some aspect that I criticise. Thats it. And you stands against my opinion try to explain me thats this is ok, becaouse some misplaced thought that lego is "onlyů for kids in some age... And I disagree. And honestly I am not anybodys lad, and I didn like your attitude to me. But dont take my post personally basicly we are on the same ship dont we? :) I'm pretty much done with you. I come here to enjoy my only love... You ruin it for me. Again you obviously don't listen to what i have to say, you just make your own story out of it. I will be the last person to say Lego has an age limit. Please don't type to me anymore it will make it easier for both of us. Depending on what Thorin we are going to get in the next wave, this is the lake town version. Oh, and Balin and Kili as well! We already know that, knowing Lego we won't get a set of Purple dwarves with the same printing! Basically these are the clothes they stepped on the boat with (when they left LT) but when reached the mountain those clothes where already gone TT decided to keep those clothes, Besides, LEGO is not about perfect accuracy, I mean this is LEGO: it has studs, it is blockish, obviously it is not a perfect match! And that is what i am trying to say the whole time Quote

Gibbon Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 Here's what bo5a need, we already got the shield, now they just gotta follow through with the armor. You mean the shield in the 'Mirkwood Elf Army' set? An armoured elf like taht would be really nice but I still prefer the Mikwood Elf palace guards to me materialized. Quote
kevkipo Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 Here's what bo5a need, we already got the shield, now they just gotta follow through with the armor. I totally agree Lad!, Only question is would you mind if it would be with or without hair? Quote
bachamn Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 If tolkien says smaug is green, but PJ says he's blue. It would not matter to lego what tolkien said, they would make him blue. I understand that, but I'm saying as a primary Tolkien loyalist, there were enough things about the movie that differed from Tolkien enough to irk me, but I moved past it. LEGO not reproducing minor details while dumbing down a complex model from the movie interpretation isn't going to bother me. Which is basically what I meant by this: Unless you're approaching this from an uber-PJ/Weta loyalty perspective, who cares? I just don't see the need for outrage over minor departures from the movie design like this. If they did something extreme like make Smaug blue, I'd have plenty to say about it I'm sure, but this is just minutia. Also, I went to pick up a copy of the Blu-Ray last night; Target has 4 different versions available including the one with the minifig. Every copy of that version was already sold out. I checked Target Online and the store locator showed that every other store within 100 miles of me (most are about 90 miles away) has copies. I might just buy the polybag outright. Quote
Lord Vladivus Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 Uk guys:- Managed to get the blu ray edition with the polybag at Sainsburys. Also managed to pick up Lake Town chase, Dul Guldor ambush, and Mirkwood Elf army for a total of £49.99 for all three together at TRU. In case anyone's interested, they've half price on. Hobbit Lego, and a free gift card for £10 if you spend over £40. Quote

With or without hair, doesent matter to me, but I'd assume alot of people would want it without so you could turn their heads aswell as use it on other moc things. That said, i wouldnt want hair in front. Edited April 9, 2014 by deskp Quote

I mean i would love it (We can be sure about Iron Hillers, and as you know i love them) but maybe Lego is like "We already made Elven soldiers (in their eyes those green hooded one's are soldiers)" So i honestly don't know. But i really hope they do :) Quote
Floundie Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 I stumbled across this photo by Flickr user erlangshen. While it's custom, It gives us a good idea what Elrond's hairpiece in yellow would look like. Personally I hope TLG uses tan regardless of what hair piece they use. Just think what Thranduil's hairpiece would have looked like in yellow.. Quote

Previous battlepacks only included three different minifigure variations - the hero (Eomer, Thranduil), the good soldiers (Rohan Soldier, Mirkwood Elves) and the enemy (Uruk-Hai, Gundabad Orcs). I think it will just be Dain, the Iron Hill Dwarves and some orcs. Plus Beorn in bear form taking the spot of the horse/warg. Edited April 9, 2014 by wesker Quote

Well, whatever fig it might be, I'm expecting something on top of dain+dwarf+orc Theres a certain variety expected in a set of that size. 471 pieces, 60$ Thats the same amount of pieces lake town had, but 10$ more Edited April 9, 2014 by deskp Quote

Likely Beorn. I'd actually prefer no bear-form Beorn though. I would much rather get another color Warg, like black or dark tan, maybe even in reddish brown. They're much more useful. SMC Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 (edited) I really want beorn as a bear much cooler than a 4th warg or a 4th eagle (I got 2 black gates) and better than a bat if its a larger set not a army builder Edited April 9, 2014 by SMC Quote

Well, ok I want it, but I would rather have more wargs. Why that so? We already have 3 wargs, a new mold would always be welcome i have high toughts it will end up like this Dain, 1 or 2 Iron Hill footsoldier, Bear Beorn,1 or 2 Armored Gundabad Orc, Elven Soldier, Quote
Alfadas Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 I hope it will include Dain (of course Dain, who else), 2 Iron Hill Dwarfs, 3 orcs or goblins or at least some kind of bad guys, and Bear Beorn. I don't really care about the elf soldiers. That makes 6 figs and an animal. Quote

It would be a bit strange to have no eagle in this set when it's considered the 5th army. Lego already has made eagles so it would be no big deal putting one in, and it's only been in 2 sets before 1 of wich was an exclusive. Neither black gate or Orthanc really needed the eagle, I don't think the eagle would get made if it was only gonna be in those 2 sets. As for the wargs, they have been in an ARMY set, wich is cheaper and they almsot expect you to buy multiples of, so a wargs is soemwaht less likely. Quote
