I actually like the plate mold on Bolg. It allows one to reuse it on other figures.

Regarding the sets, do we know if the black arrow will appear in any of the sets? If so, will it be like the one in the video game or will it be a black missile from the new spring launcher?

I know, but I sort of feel it would be laziness on LEGO's part to not create an entirely new mold for him

What would be the difference? and talking about laziness... you do know that a new mold costs loads of money for Lego right? it's not laziness at all

I think they are going to reuse the Windlance design from the game, as it was a pretty good design

A single mold can cost up to a quarter of a million Euros, you cant expect Lego to go around creating new molds when the moods right.

Thats generaly molds that are intended to be in legos "arsenal" for a while. Not really the more "1 off" lisenced and CMF molds. those are cheaper im sure.

Lego made the "elf sword" for no real reason at all for example, that said, that a mold that really upsets me, they could have made an acutal useful normal elf sword,...

And that is why this mold exists: http://www.brickforge.com/store/home.php?cat=264

Thats hideous, even worse than lego's elf sword.

I agree. The hilt is too long to be a single handed sword, yet too short to allow two hands. And the blade is too curvy and thin. It doesn't fit with the Middle-Earth figs.

On the subject of the Windlance, I'm sure we'll see something similar to what is shown in the game. Its a simple enough design to be plausible in a set, and as deskp said, it may very well be that the game designers just used the existing LEGO design for the game. And the Black Arrow being made of a flick missile and a spear tip thing looks fine.

Also, I really hope we see the Bolg from the game. While he may look a little strange next to Azog, the shoulder armour and head plate should make him seem taller. Also, the bone mace that he has in the game is a particularly cool weapon and it would be really nice if LEGO gave us that.

Speaking of more elaborate weapons from the game, I noticed Beorn's axe is made using a shorter brown shaft, with one of those three studded lightsaber hilts in brown, along with an axe head and silver tooth. Does anyone know if the lightsaber hilt bit has been released in brown yet? I have a bunch in gold from some Ninjago sets, but I've yet to see brown, and I'd love to replicate the game axe for my minifig.

I've checked out that windlance. It wouldn't work in real life. Lots of unstable and illegal connections.

Really? oh i didn't notice that

The shorter brown shaft is this: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=13564 but its only in white

That windlance design in the game could have a flick fire fit into it or a new spring shooter fit into it. If the windlance in the video game would not really work fully built, can we assume that the flick-fire we saw in the game is also not entirely accurate?

That piece was used for Michelangelo's nun-chucks in the TMNT Shellraiser set.

Sweet. That seems to be the cheapest way to get the piece right now, unless I get one from Ebay. I'm not sure if I can justify the expense. Thanks for the help, though.

This is how the pieces come in the for mentioned Shellraiser

Would you please not share such a big picture of something that doesnt even relate to this forum?
