Legoman123 Posted June 2, 2014 Posted June 2, 2014 going by parts it only just bigger then Goblin King, I am hopping for a lot of figs as well as Smaug I think we will probably get 7-8 minifigures. Quote
bachamn Posted June 2, 2014 Posted June 2, 2014 (edited) Don't know if youre being rude or what, I really dont see what you are trying to achieve with that gif? Expressing disappointment in a ridiculous idea that both of you confirmed was actually being considered. Calm down. Edited June 2, 2014 by bachamn Quote
kevkipo Posted June 2, 2014 Posted June 2, 2014 Expressing disappointment in a ridiculous idea that both of you confirmed was actually being considered. Calm down. Well it looked like you where trying to say that i and Deskp are stupid because we heard some speculations about Dain riding on a Boar? I think we will probably get 7-8 minifigures. Yeah same here, i guess that would be reasonable wouldn't it? Quote
bachamn Posted June 2, 2014 Posted June 2, 2014 Well it looked like you where trying to say that i and Deskp are stupid because we heard some speculations about Dain riding on a Boar? No, the epic deGrasse Tyson eyeroll was aimed at PJ/Weta. Not sure why would assume I meant it towards either of you. moving on. Quote
Floundie Posted June 2, 2014 Posted June 2, 2014 We've had piece counts for months now.. it's all on the first page. You guys make it sound like this is news. Funny though that Erebor is listed as having 8 more pieces than the previously confirmed count. I wonder if those are all Smaug's parts. Dol Guldur is the same and so is Lake Town. The BOFA set added 1 more piece. Maybe they decided to add an extra animal mold? Quote
BrickBob Studpants Posted June 2, 2014 Posted June 2, 2014 The new piece count is old news I'm afraid: BTW, I've been looking for new clues across the interwebs and needless to say, it was pretty much in vain The only new bit of information I found is a site that claims that 79018 includes 866 pieces, i.e. 8 pieces more than previous sources reported: http://www.speelgoed...he-hobbit-set-4 Hooray... kevkipo Posted June 2, 2014 Posted June 2, 2014 The new piece count is old news I'm afraid: Ahhw sorry chap, i knew i have seen it before somewhere Quote
kevkipo Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 No, the epic deGrasse Tyson eyeroll was aimed at PJ/Weta. Not sure why would assume I meant it towards either of you. moving on. Hah, there's a Neil deGrasse LEGO t-shirt on Teefury right now Quote
MattedBricks Posted June 4, 2014 Posted June 4, 2014 Did anyone else notice that the Summer catalogue doesn't have any Hobbit (or LOTR) sets featured? Not sure what that says... Quote
just2good Posted June 4, 2014 Author Posted June 4, 2014 Did anyone else notice that the Summer catalogue doesn't have any Hobbit (or LOTR) sets featured? Not sure what that says... I mean, there hasn't been any new Hobbit sets for eight months and the last wave didn't seem to sell very well, and there hasn't been any new LOTR for a year, so... Quote
Hammerhand Posted June 4, 2014 Posted June 4, 2014 Yeah, I noticed. Don't know why it didn't even have any DoS sets in it. I don't think it's a good sign for Lego Middle Earth though. Quote
Blakstone Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 The consumer Summer 2014 catalog arrived this week and there was no Hobbit, LotR, or even any Castle sets (except the Juniors one). It might mean that LEGO has deminished expectations for the Hobbit. But I am sure that we will still get the final wave. I wouldn't want to dawdle though. LEGO might not make huge production runs for this wave. Quote
kabel Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 Could it be that the film release date got pushed back? Quote
Faefrost Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 We have had it skipped from catalogs before. They can't reveal the sets until much later in the summer for what will probably be the last wave. I don't see anything that has changed regarding our expectations with this. Of course LotR would not be in there if there is no 2014 LotR product. Their planned summer Hobbit release got pushed back because of the movie getting pushed back, so the hard date keeps them from putting it in this catalog. The DOS sets are going towards a year now so they are nearing EOL and their marketing push will be reduced unless they are tied in with the new stuff. They aren't going to waste a full catalog page giving us Dol Guldur Battle again. The product ties to the movies. Quote
Robert_88 Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 The third Hobbit wave is already confirmed but I can understand why the aren't in the catalogue. What should they show us now? Quote
Blakstone Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 Robert, no one expected Wave 3 to be in the catalog. We are discussing that Wave 2 is missing. It is only 6 months old and other sets that came out at the same time are still be offered. Quote
kevkipo Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 I really dont see the problem, the 2nd Wave is not in the Catalog... so? I wouldn't want to dawdle though. LEGO might not make huge production runs for this wave. Then what is Smaug? Quote
Blakstone Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 Smaug would be in the third wave. We surely are going to get that wave. But how long it is available in stores may be very limited. I don't have a frame of reference on production runs except for IDEAS / CUUSO where they run about 10,000 to 20,000 sets. As those sell, they decide whether to make another batch or not. What I mean is say that LEGO made 500,000 copies of Laketown Chase (this is a complete guess). Perhaps they will make 300,000 of the next Laketown set. We still get it, but there is less product overall as they don't think it will sell very well. LEGO could still decide to do another production run if they are surprised with the sales though. Quote
nymmerod Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 LEGO could still decide to do another production run if they are surprised with the sales though. Well let's all surprise them then and buy this 3rd wave the day it comes out!!! Quote
atreyu2112 Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 I don't see any problem that the DOS sets aren't in the 2014 catalog. Those sets have been out for a long while now. I also understand why the 4 new sets aren't in there. PJ did change the 3rd film's name way after that catalog was released. Good for Lego to not show anything until it's ready. My money is on a big SDCC reveal. Heck, we might even get surprised with some LotR wave 3 sets No one knows what the licence time frame or details are other than Lego has them. They've recently sent out emails stating that the licence is still ongoing. Anything anyone says outside of Lego press release is pure speculation. But if I was to put a guess on it, when the Star Wars 7 sets come, that will be when we stop seeing LotR & Hobbit. I intend on buying the entire wave day of release. Depending how nice the sets are, I may purchase duplicates as gifts for the holiday season. Quote
kevkipo Posted June 6, 2014 Posted June 6, 2014 I agree with Atreyu there the sets sound spectecular! im sure gonna buy the whole wave (like i did with the other waves :P) Well let's all surprise them then and buy this 3rd wave the day it comes out!!! Yeah! lets do that. LEGO could still decide to do another production run if they are surprised with the sales though. Well as they mentioned themselves Kids Dragons so i guess they will be surprised about the marketing on the Erebor set Smaug would be in the third wave. I meant you said : I wouldn't want to dawdle though. LEGO might not make huge production runs for this wave. To wich i said: Then what is Smaug? Smaug = a huge production run for THIS (the coming) wave Quote
