Darth Punk Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 I wouldn't dawdle too much when the third wave comes out. After seeing the last harry potter wave evaporate so quickly it's no telling how much longer is left on the license. Plus there is going to be at least one new pirate set coming out next year so we may see the third wave move off the shelves as quickly as the second wave. Though the third waves has the potential to be the best while the second is probably the worst. Quote

I just see it like this, what does it matter when the sets are not on the shelves for long You at least GET the oppertunity to get them right? Quote

For me it would matter in terms of buying multiple copies of the sets because I can't afford to do that all at once. I usually buy all the sets once upon release and then a month or two later go back and buy the additional copies I want. But getting them at least once is better than not getting them at all I guess. SMC Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 I think there might be a big push for the last movie, I am not going to rush out and get the if they star becoming hard to find then I will but not before, same goes for spaceship, spaceship, spaceship which some people think could sell out, I can buy things a RRP otherwise there is no way I could get as many sets as I do Quote

nymmerod Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 I bet they would be available a month or 2 That's probably true. Even though the DOS sets were basically taken off the shelves at all the major retailers here about a month after release, they are still readily available at my local Lego store. Quote

I've got a local Walmart with most of the second wave on the shelves. Some sets sold out though. Quote

bachamn Posted June 11, 2014 Posted June 11, 2014 (edited) Even though the DOS sets were basically taken off the shelves at all the major retailers here about a month after release I'd have to put emphasis on the "basically". I was still seeing a few DoS sets in Walmart into April. Also, interesting that no one mentioned buying from Amazon? Availability on there is pretty static for the most part and you can even still get (most) Wave 1 LotR sets without much of a markup. All the Hobbit sets are up at practically MSRP. Prices for new sets usually spike right when they're released (when only one or two sellers have them listed) but they always settle back down to at or decently below MSRP within a week or so. I've purchased most of my LotR and Hobbit sets this way, though I guess having a Prime account does help regarding shipping. Edited June 11, 2014 by bachamn Quote
TheLegoDr Posted June 14, 2014 Posted June 14, 2014 That's the tricky thing. I saw Hobbit wave 2 sets initially at Wal-Mart when the movie came out, and have only seen them recently at one Wal-Mart in town. I never saw them at any of the Targets (I go about once a week). I find that very odd. I'd think availability would be higher than that when the movie is in theaters. But this Wal-Mart also has LOTR wave 2, which again, I haven't really seen anywhere. If it wasn't for me ordering from Shop at Home, I probably wouldn't have most sets. Quote
atreyu2112 Posted June 14, 2014 Posted June 14, 2014 Target only carries items that fit in their current set which changes every 3 months. Doesn't matter what it is, if it's not in the current set it's clearanced no matter how new it is. You can't judge anything by Target. Heck, they just clearanced out ALL of the Yoda-boxed SW sets and only have the Vader-boxed sets now. Barely any TMNT or even Lego Movie sets. There are well over 1 million people here on Long Island with about 20 Targets within driving distance from me. This is how it is at all of them. Some Walmarts here still have the DoS wave, some don't. Most TRUs here have LotR wave 2 and both Hobbit waves, with the odd MoM set here and there. In some places they have sold well and been restocked a few times. In others, they have not. I do expect a full showing from all the stores with this last Hobbit wave, especially the Smaug set. I'm not too worried about getting that wave. It's LotR wave 3 I'm concerned with. Quote
BrickBob Studpants Posted June 16, 2014 Posted June 16, 2014 (edited) Thanks to TomKraut, we now have the digital version of the (German) summer catalogue, which is good and bad news at the same time: http://catalogs.lego.../de_de/2HY2014/ -> page 94/95 The good news is that the DoS sets are still in there (putting that discussion to a well-deserved rest ) but the bad news concerns the hint about the third wave since it strongly implies that the release date of the sets will coincide with the movie Yeah, so don't expect to see pictures of the entire wave before late October Edited June 16, 2014 by Lego-Freak Quote
Floundie Posted June 16, 2014 Posted June 16, 2014 Doesn't surprise me, I'm actually kind of relieved for my wallet. Quote

deskp Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 Well elgo is keeping to its normal plan, the movie has jsut got another marketing strategy this year. I think they did similar thing to ROTK movie. But im pretty sure we'll know stuff beofre or at comic con. Quote
atreyu2112 Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 deskp is right. It won't be much longer before we start seeing some stuff. I actually like the suspense. Keeps me more excited for when we do see something. Quote
Shroffy123 Posted June 18, 2014 Posted June 18, 2014 I agree with deskp too. We'll see a set or two next month, with a release of the sets - at least in the US - in October. Much like last year. Remember, by July we should see the first teaser trailer for the movie, and additioanl trailers throughout the summer. By then an confidentiality TLG has with WB will be moot. Quote
Steph 104th Posted June 18, 2014 Posted June 18, 2014 Here is the link to the website I buy from at the bottom you can see that they have already set aside space for the new sets. http://shop.kiddiwinks.co.za/themes/hobbit Quote

Cammo Posted June 18, 2014 Posted June 18, 2014 Well is there a Warner Bros Summer Blockbuster on the horizon? It'll probably be shown there. BTW, I find it very strange that they didn't mention Hobbit DLC for the game at E3. So about a month from now until the first set reveal at Comic Con I guess? Quote

They wouldnt be allowed to show anything from it, and it's not like it would stand out among the rest of e3. Quote
Steph 104th Posted June 18, 2014 Posted June 18, 2014 The Trailer for the the conclusion to this epic saga is scheduled for release 20 July. Patience. Quote

Steph 104th Posted June 18, 2014 Posted June 18, 2014 I am not here to create any enemies, the information is from the site that has the list of the trailers for the Blockbusters of 2014. Maybe they derived the information from the one ring.net My apologies for any misinterpretations. Quote
