SirBlake Posted July 3, 2014 Posted July 3, 2014 Yeah, but that's easy to understand. With pics, we'll actually have something to talk about. For now, it's nothing but speculation and I think we're all out of things to speculate about. Quote

All with you there Blake, i think we've gone over everything! yet again i would like to hear your opinions and toughts about the sets. Wich set you expect, wich set you like the most (from what we have heard) i find it hard to choose between 79018 and 79017 I've noticed something strange, Altough 79017 is more expensive than 79016, 79016 looks bigger :I Quote
kevkipo Posted July 4, 2014 Posted July 4, 2014 it funny how little there has been on here recently and then we will get a picture and we will fill a few pages in a day lol, i wonder who is going to be the first to post a picture on this Forum . Quote

agentsmith Posted July 4, 2014 Posted July 4, 2014 so what minifigs are we getting witch-king set : galadriel + witch king lonely mountain : being an interior playset i doubt we will get anything new lake town take down ( a bit of poetry ) : i'm guessing Bolg will be in this set or Dain , probably a laketown soldier battle of the five armies : 1 elf ( armor ? ) , 1 orc ( armor ? ) , 1 dwarf ( armor ? ) , 1 eagle , 1 bat , Bold or Dain , and hopefully Beorn in bear form ( but not the standard city bear ) what i would prefer to get is : - elf swords - elf's in battle armor - dwarfs in battle armor ( although , the beard doesn't allow for armor so it might just be only the helmet ) - man of dale - orcs in armor ? - elven shields ( not the oval one re-printed but a new form ) Quote
wesker Posted July 4, 2014 Posted July 4, 2014 My thoughts on the minifigures: Elrond, Galadriel and the Witch-King have all been confirmed for the Dol Guldur set so there's not much to speculate here. Bain is the only one we know for sure is coming in Lake-Town, but I think there's a very high chance we'll see Bard there as well. He's going to play a big role in the story and Lego will want to have some of the main heroes available in the new wave for those just getting into the line. Plus he was given a different blue costume in the video game instead of the brown one we saw in the previous Lake-Town set. I don't think they would have done that unless there was a new figure on the way. As for the remaining minifigures, I'm going to guess Bolg will be included here rather than the Battle of Five Armies just to add some conflict to the set. Tauriel might show up as a potential fourth minifigure based on the design of her casual outfit from the game. It looks a lot more authentic than the designs of other Lake-Town themed characters in the game like Alfrid. Battle of Five Armies I think will keep a similar line up to previous battle packs, even if the set is a little more expensive this time around. Dain seems the most likely as the hero character, Beorn in bear form will fill the spot of the molded creature and 5 additional soldiers to round the rest off. Aside from Smaug I don't think we'll see any new characters in the Lonely Mountain - just new costume variants. We can guarentee Bilbo and Thorin are going to be included here. The other characters really depend on whether the set itself is designed to cover scenes from the overall trilogy rather than just the conclusion of the second film. If thats the case we can probably count on yet another Gandalf, the dwarves that will play an important role in the third movie (Balin, Kili, Fili etc) and if we're lucky an armoured Thranduil. Quote
matticus Posted July 5, 2014 Posted July 5, 2014 From Peter Jackson's Facebook page: Thank you all for your responses to my posting about Lorri and Damien’s book. Of course, many of you asked about the Hobbit Trailer. So, yes - there will be a Hobbit Trailer. But like the previous two years, it’s not going to be released until around Oct. The complex VFX work required to produce the battle shots we’re all wanting to see are simply not far enough along yet. However...yesterday I finished work on a Teaser Trailer and that has just been delivered to Warner Bros. So no doubt this Teaser Trailer will be making it’s way into the world sometime soon… Cheers, Peter J http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/JoshWildingNewsAndReviews/news/?a=103027 Quote

I call this a review: http://www.mtv.com/videos/misc/938730/sdcc-2013-lego-the-hobbit-the-desolation-of-smaug-demo.jhtml Aside from Smaug I don't think we'll see any new characters in the Lonely Mountain - just new costume variants. Thorin But i have my doubts about that Lonely Mountain, i mean why would Gandalf or Thranduil be in there? I think it would be weird if they put Gandalf and Thranduil in the same set as Smaug? and i really doubt Gandalf will take the spot of Balin or any other dwarf. I still like your idea about the BO5A set Quote
Diggydoes Posted July 5, 2014 Posted July 5, 2014 It makes me kinda sad when i think about the fact that the upcoming Hobbit sets (figures) might be the last (new) thing we will see from the Tolkien universe translated into Lego :( Every figure that will not be in any of the named sets will most likely never ever get produced! Theres a bluray release or 3-4 coming up, and pahaps they would make physical copies of the full trilogy video game. We might get another exlusive minifigure. But yeah Lego's minifig coverage of the hobbit is pretty good so far. if they would be so kind as to make the right figures for this third wave we got ourself a nearly full house: https://www.flickr.c...57636357477113/ And lets not forget theres SOME chanse of a D2C to end the theme, whatever that would be! deskp Posted July 5, 2014 Posted July 5, 2014 If there is a D2C it would be better if it was LOTR depends on waht it was. but it does not work that way. LOTR had its ending d2c. Quote
SMC Posted July 5, 2014 Posted July 5, 2014 depends on waht it was. but it does not work that way. LOTR had its ending d2c. but as has been said a number of time, we almost have a everything we need from the hobbit but we are missing a lot from lotr, most of which we could get with a gondor set. And I think lotr has more to offer a large d2c and would sell better. Quote
Godless-Mimicry Posted July 5, 2014 Posted July 5, 2014 Noticed in my local Smyths today that all Hobbit and LoTR are gone. Quote
agentsmith Posted July 5, 2014 Posted July 5, 2014 still Lotr has had the " gondor " action sequence completely overlooked , so it might just be released but maybe in 1-2 years , after the current lotr & hobbit sets disappear , and still ... we haven't got a sauron minifigure Quote

Sell better? i ask you this: Wich theme has more waves LOTR or The Hobbit? i think a The Hobbit D2C will be far more better than a LOTR one, i mean they already have one and The Hobbit is the popular thing now for people who are not familiar with the Tolkienverse, its fresh and new and a lot of the people who just "go to movies" have forgotten LOTR Quote
SMC Posted July 5, 2014 Posted July 5, 2014 ^ and are these people the ones buying a £200 Lego set, I think not. I think a LOTR set would sell better. Quote
atreyu2112 Posted July 5, 2014 Posted July 5, 2014 Absolutely LOTR... Hobbit has gotten such a great representation in Lego when compared to what's been released for LotR. MORE than enough for my liking. The final four sets will be fine, and really, be honest... what's left for them to make after wave 3? A bigger version of Dale or Erebor? I think not. LotR wave 2 SUCKED & the line still has too may holes: The Balrog, Treebeard, Witch King & Fell Beast, ANYTHING Gondor (be it Osgiliath or Minas Tirith), and even a Prologue set with a brick built Sauron similar to the X-Men Sentinel or GotG Groot. Anything just listed will SELL MUCH BETTER than more Hobbit sets. After wave 3 I am DONE with Hobbit along with everyone else. And in my opinion, the LotR trilogy BLOWS AWAY the Hobbit trilogy. It's SAD and PATHETIC Hobbit got a better more complete showing of Lego sets than LotR. It's a disgrace! Quote
