If the tail has the motion that is suggested here that would totally rock!

If not, it would still totally rock because it's Smaug!

I can't wait 'till SDCC.

Ooooooooooooooo sweet!

@Cammo: According to Ianmrid's Toy Fair report, the set depicts Erebor's internal structures: The Lonely Mountain set was lots of sand green and looked pretty large - with lots of gold and hidden sections for more gold and jewels. The arkenstone was just a standard blue gem, but it might have just been a preliminary as Smaug was (he was just a castle dragon standing in!) The mountain was a playset of the inside rather than anything external.

@dr jones: Judging by Smaugs appearance in the game, his tail seems to be quite long, but not that flexible  I don't think it can bend as much as implied on that picture

Was it already confirmed what the Lonely Mountain will include? Is it the front gates of Erebor or an interior like the Mines of Moria set?

From what we have heard, it's interior

Smaug has nice feet! Also the joint fot the wing looks somehow moveable and turnable, which would be new and very good to have.

Would have been cool to get the gate with the 2 stone dwarf soldiers. But it will a day 1 buy fir me no mather what. Still 14 days until reveal. :)

Target has Dol Guldur Battle and Mirkwood Elf Army for $50 and $25 respectively. Should I pick 'em up for that price?

$50 seems a good markdown for DGB. Up until last weekend, Amazon had Mirkwood Elf Army at $25 for a couple months, I think (and DG Ambush at $15; not sure why they decided to end that nice sale; together those two sets were the same price as some TRUs in my area were charging for the Elf Army set alone!)

Has anyone noticet the comments on brotherhood workshops face book page. It says that the video which has the unreleased Lego the hobbit set in it will not be released until august. This (hopefully) confirms the SDCC set reveal speculation.

P.s: oops I forgot to introduce myself. I am splat12green and am a new member on eurobricks. I have been following this particular forum for a long time now. With the latest smaug teaser pic, I decided to join eurobricks. Hello cool new world

Awesome! Thanks for sharing man, welcome to the forum!

Thank you azog15 for the warm welcome

Mind to post the actual comment here, splat12green? I can't seem to find it.

I Quote (copy and paste) the comment........Petar, basically yeah :) It won't be out till August though....for legal reasons.....

I did not know how to upload the screen shot of the comment.

P.s look for the picture of an star wars escape pod on brotherhoods workshops page. It should say below the picture something like cheak out my new star wars video. It has a link directing you to the video. Don't click on the link. Instead click on the comments. You should find the comment there

Lol. There is something about that smaug teaser. Something it carries, something made of plastic but far more precious. Who agrees with me?

It doesn't look good for the October release any more as I've just found a Swiss retailer claiming an early December release: https://www.galaxus.ch/en/s5/product/lego-the-hobbit-set-4-79018-lego-2577729

However, we don't know what sources the retailers refer to. I guess the ones who reported an October release (speelgoed, kiddiwinks etc) refer to the retailer catalogue which is probably outdated by now and Galaxus.ch probably got this bit of information from the consumer catalogue since there's no new retailer catalogue around yet

Lego have also confirmed that there will be an exclusive signing at the booth for SDCC. Since most of the cast of the Hobbit will be present, I'd wager that between the unveiling of the teaser trailer, that teaser shot of the Smaug figure with the game code... the possibility of the big Hobbit set reveals and a cast member signing (Benedict Cumberbatch, Richard Armitrage) could be imminent!

And as an afterthought... Maybe... Just maybe... If I'm right about this... It could be a way Lego is trying to raise the awareness and excitement for the line to generate the sales necessary to give the passionate fans that 3rd LotR wave...?

I mean, this might be the last Tolkien film EVER. You know they're going out with a bang!

That may be right. Remember the Tolkien stuff seems to work the opposite of the SW stuff. For SW Europe seems to get the sets 2 months before North America. For Hobbit and LotR we have been getting them 2 months before Europe. So October US release, December Euro may be how it goes.

It will never be the LAST ...... I bet sometime down the road Silmarilion will be made.... 1000%

Not yet, but some times....

I think Chris Tolkien is the main block to licensing further works. And he's in his 90's. The younger kids will see licensing the Silmarrilion into a 12 movie arc will be the only way for them to get a huge piece of the pie. Although chances are they won't go near Warner Brothers or New Line or Peter Jackson.

Nice pic! Didn't Smaug in the game have the old dragon leg mold? If the design wasn't 100% completed back then there could be a chance for an altered head mold. Does the tail look rubbery to anyone else?

@Floundie: The mould in the game is the same as the real one:

The castle dragon legs on the other hand look like this:

As you can see, the claws are completely different

I was thinking that it would be good to sum up all the information in one post:

79015 (101 pieces, $15):

Desc.: Small rock structure

Minifigures: Elrond (armored), Galadriel, Witch King (true form)

79016 (313 pieces, $30):

Desc.: Add-on to Laketown Chase

Minifigures: Bain

79017 (471 pieces, $60):

Minifigures: Dain II Ironfoot

79018 (858 pieces, $130):

Desc.: Interior of the Lonely Mountain

Minifigures: Bilbo Baggins, Smaug

Misc.: Arkenstone

Am I missing anything?

I think Bard will be in 79016 and Beorn in 79017. That's just my guess though.

Probably, but I'm only using confirmed information.
