Alcarin Posted July 15, 2014 Posted July 15, 2014 Does anyone think that we could receive some poly bags with this wave? Probably not :) Quote
Artanis I Posted July 15, 2014 Posted July 15, 2014 Probably not :) Well, so far there have been 2 polybags released for each wave except 2nd LOTR. Uruk-Hai & Frodo, Gandalf & Mirkwood Elf, Legolas & Laketown Guard. But most of the time a lot of people have no chance of finding them so I don't mind if there aren't any this time... Quote

Wave 2 of Hobbit (and LOTR) was split in half after announcement of the 3rd movie for Hobbit and 2 polybags for Hobbit wave 2 and 0 polybags for LOTR and in the wave 3 it would be the other way around, so we get 4 polybags for each theme..... If you think such theory is likely possible or you believeits true, then that would indicate 0 polybags for Hobbit wave 3..... But that would also indicate LOTR wave 3 next year which would include 2 polybags.... :P Quote
Darth Malgus Posted July 15, 2014 Posted July 15, 2014 Big assumption for LOTR wave 3 I think... Quote
Lancethecat Posted July 15, 2014 Posted July 15, 2014 Does anyone think that we could receive some poly bags with this wave? A polybag with a dwarven warrior and a rocky outcropping for it to hide behind would make a great army builder to complement the Battle of the Five Armies set. Quote

azog15 Posted July 15, 2014 Posted July 15, 2014 Do you guys think theres a chance Beorn as a bear will be included in the BO5A set? Quote
deskp Posted July 15, 2014 Posted July 15, 2014 (edited) Do you guys think theres a chance Beorn as a bear will be included in the BO5A set? there is a chanse yes. but i do not think it will happen at all. unless tis the current bear printed Edited July 15, 2014 by deskp Quote
Blakstone Posted July 15, 2014 Posted July 15, 2014 I don't. Regardless of what mold they would use for the bear, it would have been seen at the London Toy Fair. If Beorn in bear form was going to be in the set, they would have shown a bear there. But I really like the idea of a Ironhills dwarf polybag. I have had good luck with the Hobbit polybags. Quote
Trunkbass Posted July 15, 2014 Posted July 15, 2014 Are the polybags always available at the official LEGO stores? I have an enormous difficulty finding them in Europe (I'm located in Belgium, but I usually go to the LEGO store in Lille, France) Quote
Venkefedo Posted July 15, 2014 Posted July 15, 2014 But I really like the idea of a Ironhills dwarf polybag. I have had good luck with the Hobbit polybags. I haven't lately, because I'm foolish… I saw the Laketown Guard set a couple times, thought it seemed plentiful, and figured I'd get a couple later. Then they vanished. I did get the Legolas one w/ the blu-ray tho, and several Mirkwood Elves over a year ago. Quote
Blakstone Posted July 15, 2014 Posted July 15, 2014 I generally get a few when I first see them and if they are still around I get a few more. I don't want to deprive other FOLs the opportunity. Quote

That's what I wound up doing with the Mirkwood Elf; I think I got a couple right away, then went back during a BOGO50% sale and grabbed several more (they had a ton of 'em!) Quote
Faefrost Posted July 15, 2014 Posted July 15, 2014 The polybags are mainly promo items for the big box stores. So it will depend on how well the previous ones did with them, and whether they want more. I also suspect that if we do see any it will be a way of helping to deplete stock of existing Hobbit minifigs. (ie the Hobbit Gandalf polybag which basically ran down the LotR Gandalf figs). So what Hobbit related minifigs do you think they have the biggest untapped barrels of? Quote
Blakstone Posted July 15, 2014 Posted July 15, 2014 I think the polybags make for a great impulse purchase or a way to slightly increase the size of a gift to someone. The Laketown Guard also a way to maximize use of the otherwise unique helmet from Laketown Chase. I get the frustration for those where these are not readily available. Most stores in my area do not carry any polybags. Target has some seasonal ones and a couple of other lines polies (Starwars, City, and Chima mostly). For the Hobbit ones, I have to check Toys R Us. As long as the polybags don't include exclusive minifigures, I don't get the desire for them to go away just because they are not in one's area. This year, I think we will continue to get them. There will be one of a major character which we won't need more copies of. Maybe that will be Thorin this time. There will also be an army builder. While it could be an orc, I would much rather get a Ironhills dwarf. I could see that have an great print and new helmet. Quote
Faefrost Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 Are the polybags always available at the official LEGO stores? I have an enormous difficulty finding them in Europe (I'm located in Belgium, but I usually go to the LEGO store in Lille, France) It's the opposite. The Polybags are almost never found in the Lego stores. You find them as exclusives at the large third party merchants. In the US it's typically Walmart, Target and TRU. The only ones you find in the Lego stores are typically extras after a giveaway month. Quote
Deathleech Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 So far the polybags have been pretty good imo. We get the one named character which is usually pretty "meh", but the soldier type has almost always been good. I really wish we could of gotten a polybag with the second LotR wave. An Undead Soldier or Orc would of been ideal along with maybe Legolas or something (since the LotR version isn't in any cheap sets). For the third Hobbit wave I am hoping for either an Orc or an Iron Hill Dwarve. Please no more elves. Thorin would make for a good named character. I know those outside the U.S. can have issues finding the polys, but in the U.S. there isn't much excuse to miss them. They are usually available at TRU stores in decent quantities and online they have them off and on a few weeks and then usually stock them solid for at least a month before running out of supplies. Quote
Darth Malgus Posted July 17, 2014 Posted July 17, 2014 I agree that the polybags for this line have been pretty good, far better than other lines. Quote
Shroffy123 Posted July 17, 2014 Posted July 17, 2014 I have to disagree about poly bag availability. I never once saw the lake town guards at my local Lego store or tru. And I would check once a week Quote

And I would check once a week Well they were readily available online for a good month+. The only thing that sucked about that was the limited quanitites, but if you bought them during a BOGO and with some other Lego products to get free shipping it wasn't bad at all. Quote
