azog15 Posted July 19, 2014 Posted July 19, 2014 Bard looks awesome! I definitely think he will be included in Lake Town or Dale. Past $30 sets have always had 4 figures, so I would think it would just be Bard, Bain, Bolg and Legolas. But the Mirkwood Elf army has 6 minifigs and a warg Quote
Faefrost Posted July 19, 2014 Posted July 19, 2014 (edited) Wasn't Azog one of those exclusives as well? No! There were 4 true exclusive figures that you had to enter the raffle each day for. Azog was something purely random that Lego employees were handing out to convention goers. He was never one of the specific SDCC exclusives. He was closer to the "build a bilbo" fig. We might see the Rocket Racoon or whatever fig comes in the Batmobile in a set. For them the mini build vehicle is the "exclusive". But for the 4 specific con exclusive figs? Yeah we will not see those in a set. So no Collector, no Blue Bard, no Unikitty. Edited July 19, 2014 by Faefrost Quote
Mahtion Posted July 19, 2014 Posted July 19, 2014 Wow good job lego if true! Let's make one of the biggest heroes of the third Hobbit movie inaccurate for the sake of sdcc exclusive. Let's just rehash his DoS outfit for his defining moment in one of the 4 last Middle Earth Lego sets ever. Why didn't Lego choose a random character rather than one of the most important leads? Totally disappointing. Quote

SandMirror38 Posted July 19, 2014 Posted July 19, 2014 Oh well, I think I'll be searching for a pad printer and making decals soon... Quote
legofreak86 Posted July 19, 2014 Posted July 19, 2014 I hope we get some variation of bard in the lake town tower as literally I can't see the point of having the windlance without a bard figure in the set. Maybe it will be the blue coat without chainmail like in an earlier promo picture. Chainmail is far more useful though as he could be used for the BO5A as he wears that in battle. I'm just looking forward to seeing Erebor! Hopefully it will give us blue coat Bilbo, BO5A armoured, gold chainmail thorin, armoured variations of some of the main dwarves. Quote
deskp Posted July 19, 2014 Posted July 19, 2014 Those expecting the Bard minifig to be available at retail down the line are gonna be disappointed...he's clearly part of the series of 4 SDCC minifigs which are in fact true convention exclusives nope, it's not a thing. lego does wahtever it wants. theres been "preview" labeled figures that never made it to sets. and theres been "sdcc exclusive" labeled figures that has made it to sets. only after we know the future we'll know what ends up being a true exclusive. Quote
Ardelon Posted July 19, 2014 Posted July 19, 2014 Bard is a great figure, but shame about the fleshie triangle (someone had to say it). Not that I'd get it if it really is exclusive instead of a preview fig. We'll know this for sure if TLG presents all the sets at SDCC. Quote
Floundie Posted July 19, 2014 Posted July 19, 2014 But the Mirkwood Elf army has 6 minifigs and a warg Army builders always have more figs. Mirkwood Spiders and Council of Elrond both had 4 figures. But hey I'm just guessing here. I'm still pretty sure Bard will pop up in a set later this year. There aren't any rules about keeping an SDCC figure an SDCC figure. Besides, not a single LOTR or Hobbit minifigure has ever been designed specifically for Comic Con. The packaging for Azog even mislead that it was a Comic Con exclusive. Quote
Fives Posted July 19, 2014 Posted July 19, 2014 That SDCC Bard is beautiful. I have no doubts that this will be the fig included in any Laketown sets we get, much like how Azog last year was basically a teaser for the new sets. Hopefully we see Smaug soon. I'd be fine if Smaug is the only thing they reveal. Quote

I have no doubts that this will be the fig included in any Laketown sets we get, much like how Azog last year was basically a teaser for the new sets. The difference is that Azog was not among the four exclusives last year (despite coming with a card that claimed he was exclusive) and Bard unfortunately is If this version's in one of the sets nonetheless, that would mean that all of the exclusives are previews rather than exclusives I really wouldn't count on it though. Hopefully we see Smaug soon. I'd be fine if Smaug is the only thing they reveal. You'd be satisfied if they only revealed Smaug? What about the rest of the set? Quote

Neither would I, though I'd love that Bard in a set. I doubt that the Collector from Super Heroes is a preview fig seeing as the whole Guardians line is out already, so I don't know if all of them are previews, though I guess Bard could still be. I do wonder why they used this fig for an SDCC exclusive when they had a perfect opportunity to put him in a set. I know with the Super Heroes figs, they're usually ones that won't be able to be put into a set like Phoenix or Shazam. Quote
Floundie Posted July 19, 2014 Posted July 19, 2014 (edited) Wow has anyone seen this: (not Bard) http://www.hollywood...d_split_a_l.jpg It looks so good! I'd love to see how he made the dwarf statue. Edited July 19, 2014 by Floundie Quote
azog15 Posted July 19, 2014 Posted July 19, 2014 Now i really wish were getting a brick built Smaug Quote

They even had a spare seat for her on the Blackbird. Quote

But the true SDCC exclusive minifigures (which, up until this year, have all been Superhero minifigs) never have. Quote
K-Nut Posted July 20, 2014 Posted July 20, 2014 Phoenix could have easily been included in the X-Men vs Sentinel set. They even had a spare seat for her on the Blackbird. True. I was thinking at the time, but true. Any guesses on when we see the sets? We saw last years first around early October I think, so around then I'm guessing. Quote

Movie Green lantern was a preview figure, it said so on the card thing that came with it, and it's not showed up after that. black tdkr batman aswell. Quote

This years is supposed to be released in October so we probably will see it quite a bit sooner. I would guess we will see all sets within the next month (if not at SDCC), and they will probably be released around September in most stores (unless the release date got pushed back). Quote
Darth Malgus Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 I feel they should get the sets out earlier as there is no follow up movie this.time around and gain maximum exposure for the seys prior to the movie... Quote
