Pat-Ard Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 Hi efferman, those leaf spring look great. Those could come in handy for trucks, like the Zetros... How wide are they? 11 studs? Pat Quote
efferman Posted March 22, 2014 Author Posted March 22, 2014 uncompressed it is 80mm from hole to hole so it should fit good to 62,4x20 scale. vor bigger vehicles the leafs should be modular to adjust the stiffness like in real trucks. Quote
Pat-Ard Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 Thanks efferman... Hmmm, then I would need something bigger, as I'm "fixed" in the scale 1/12... But at the moment I'm building one of your MOCs. The Zetros has to wait... Pat Quote
Pat-Ard Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 (edited) Yes, the small Mercedes G :-) I had to wait a while, because of lacking parts. But since I bought some major sets in the past I had almost a parts for the chassis... And it fits the Unimog... Pat Edited March 22, 2014 by Pat-Ard Quote
Dafgek81 Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 Hello Efferman, Are you going to take a look at making rimcovers for the frontwheels of the 8482 tractor? And can you look into the possebillity of making those 42030 loader rimcovers in the size of the 8265 loader? Greetings Christian Quote
efferman Posted March 22, 2014 Author Posted March 22, 2014 (edited) tomorrow, today was the inventor to long on duty an other u joint, looks a bit like the old red one Edited March 23, 2014 by efferman Quote
weavil Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 You might need to separate the U-joint part for printing, then put them together afterwards. Quote

rm8 Posted March 23, 2014 Posted March 23, 2014 Guys, who already got something from shapeways: whats the quality of plastic? How stromg and fxexible is it? Is it comparable with LEGO ABS ? Quote
efferman Posted March 23, 2014 Author Posted March 23, 2014 the nylon material is more flexible and less hard than ABS Quote
Pat-Ard Posted March 23, 2014 Posted March 23, 2014 I only know the non polished parts. They have a little grainy surface. Regarding flexibility I would say, that the shapeway piece are a little more flexible. But I only know the wheel covers and the flexibility of those could also base on the size and shape of the parts. Next time if I order I would definitly order the polished version. Another question. How much do you think it would cost to get a real ABS molding form? Pat Quote
Dafgek81 Posted March 23, 2014 Posted March 23, 2014 (edited) Hello Efferman, Very nice work. I do not knw if a tractor rim is exactly simmilar to the U406 rim, but isdoes look very much the same. Could you look in to that. I like the wheelcover or the 8265 loader and the rim, do you have a picture of the other side of the rim? Edited March 23, 2014 by Dafgek81 Quote
efferman Posted March 23, 2014 Author Posted March 23, 2014 The rim looks exactly like the cover, because the holes are hidden. The covers for the tractor i will make next week. Quote
timslegos Posted March 23, 2014 Posted March 23, 2014 (edited) Do you have any idea if the quick connect part works? EDIT: Would it be too difficult to make the turntable studded? tim Edited March 23, 2014 by timslegos Quote
aol000xw Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 I see that steel is an available material in Shapeways. Albeit way more expensive I wonder if some parts could be made with it for heavy duty models. For example some of the helicopter or even steering parts may be more useful in steel. Do you think that material could work? Quote
Dafgek81 Posted March 25, 2014 Posted March 25, 2014 Hello Efferman, About that rim for the 8265 loader, the offset of that rim is more than on the original rim. Would it fit the loader? Quote
JGW3000 Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 something like this, only 15 studs long? i have made it that a beam can slide inside vierloch von efferman auf Flickr Efferman - first, thank you for all the hard work. Any progress on something like this? An option would be a standard beam, with every other opening rotated 90°. For a 15L beam, 8 holes opening up/down, 7 holes opening left/right. Or even better, a standard beam, with holes pointing front/back on the ends, and then left/right and up/down alternating, something like this but with all of the pins fully seated Quote

N-4K0 Posted March 30, 2014 Posted March 30, 2014 (edited) Sorry for going OT: Might be a stupid question, but does the old Expert Builder gears fit on regular Technic axles? Are the holes regular pin holes? How is the plastic quality? Edited March 30, 2014 by Error404 Quote
