I'm interested in buying some of your Shapeways creations but I have one question, do you think the high-torque diff is ready for testing? It looks very promising but it's still in Beta.

Sariel responded and I decided not to buy the high torque diff. Maybe sometime in the future. Here's what i did get:

  • U-Joint with slide
  • 12 tooth bevel with axle
  • Curved liftarm 4x11
  • Heavy duty U-Joint
  • 5m pushrod 90 degrees
  • Axle Support Frame
  • Driven Steering Hub small
  • Clutch 24
  • Gear Rack 9L
  • MacPherson steering hub
  • Planet gearbox 4:1
  • Male CV joint 2m 8 piece set

If you need feedback on any of these parts, they should arrive by the 22nd. Thanks for making these models!

Regarding McPherson parts:

The three-pin Lego hub part fits, but it's veeery tight, diameter of the bore should be increased a bit and depth maybe reduced by 0.5 mm. Currently there is no free wheel spin unless you treat everything with sandpaper.

The "Ball" for the lower suspension arm is a bit too small, generating play and wobble.

Spring and corresponding upper spring part fit perfectly

Z3_2drive, i have updated the mc pherson part, i hope they will use it for your part. the ball and the hole for the 3pin part are a tenth bigger.

btw, is there a need for a longer small linear actuator?

I purchased and have been testing the portal hubs along with the u-joints. I am running 2x unrestricted 5292 motors through them. So far so good.

This rock bouncer I m building is pretty stout. About 5:1 gearing, 3 cell Lipo, after market tires, and less than 1.5 Kg.

Is it possible to create a clutch type limited slip diff? Or rather any other types of limited slip diffs? Since the torsen lsd doesn't work.

do you think this would work?

That's a very interesting concept, but I think it does the opposite of a normal LSD. Normal LSDs allow for small differences in speed (such as that in cornering) and lock when one wheel loses traction. This one won't allow for slip at low differences, but will slip under high torque.

i have made yesterday a little research about LS diffs and they are made with springs and clutch plates. iam working on something like this but iam not sure if this works in real with its more than 10 parts (without lego gears)

but i think this works, even when i dont know why shapeways have these steps on the blades. These propellors are left and right so the boats should not have a tendece to move to the side. When someone wants to test it with one of his boats, please try different RPM ratios. as far as i know bot propellors have all an optimal range of rpm, to fast and they only make bubbles.

I think it's because of your model's polygons. :wink:

Have you ever tried printed nylon parts in water ? Isn't there any risk ?
