New turntable parts received and prior to using them on my crane build I tried the suggestion that 4 wheel holders could be used and connected by Lego 90 deg connectors.

It doesn't work - a 4L x 4L- 90 deg connector would be required to get aligment correct.

Thanks for checking out that idea, as I didn't have the parts in front of me. Maybe effermans' new liftarm would work, post # 1285?

Thats 5 x 3 but something similar with 4 x 4 with 3 horizontal pin holes on each side with a vertical pin hole in the corner.

efferman, hi there! I'm new to this forum, Do you make parts for sale? Is it possible to see your custom partlist? Thanx!

Could you eventually work on a 4 stud, 6 stud, and 7 stud wide sprockets, as It's difficult to work with just 5 and 3 stud wide sprockets, It would be nice to have different choices, as on some of my models the sprockets are too small or too big

Tommy look at this maybe this sprocket gears are fit to you.

@aleh sure

You don't need to make all of them, but a 7 stud wide sprocket would be the most useful on other larger models. If it follows the same pattern of the other sprockets, it would have 10 teeth. I think the 4 and 6 stud sprockets would have a weird set of teeth, as I don't think it would be a whole number, though they would be cool to have as options.

Also i'm refering to sprockets for the newer wider track, not gears for the older 3 stud wide track

tommy, the 7 hole diameter sprocket has 14 "teeths"

i have set the holes in a cross to make it easier to put plates on it. The whole sprocket gear is only one stud wide to make the chassis more flexible

Thanks for doing this, I like that it's 1 stud wide.

@ efferman That new turntable idea looks great.

Maybe that 'technic' piece (that holds the three wheels) could be used in (4) positions using a common LEGO 90* connector?

http://alpha.brickli...age?P=55615#T=C

Correction - it is possible to mount four wheel holders around the turntable support using four Cross Block Beam Bent 90 Degrees with 4 Pins (55615)

see photo - note the four red 7L beams show where the wheelholders would be located - mine are now built into my WIP- MOC.

My crane MOC uses only two wheelholders but is very stable when rotating without any wobble.

It should be stable enough, but when you fear a break i will add something.

I have had models break and bend parts before, I want to make sure that I have a durable piece if I am going to spend $10 on it, and also what plastic would you suggest, i'm thinking black. If you could fill the piece like the lego sprockets. I just want to make sure it can handle some serious stress.

Thanks!

Tommy i have filled the holes. now it is a full 2mm thick disk.

Thanks, these sprockets are the perfect size for a Panther tank, as the sprocket should be larger than the road wheels, this will work great for 6 stud inverted radar dishes when used as road wheels. I may be putting 4 XL motors through both sprockets, so I think this will give me plenty of contact points to secure it to the final drives.
