efferman Posted March 5, 2014 Author Posted March 5, 2014 Ok, better than to loose. I will make a comment on shapeways Quote
ritztoys Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 Ok, better than to loose. I will make a comment on shapeways Let them know one out of the four installed on the axle without too much difficulty, the other three needed help in cleaning out the axle hole. Quote
Pat-Ard Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 Hi efferman, I watched this thread very closely. First of all, GREAT work... Do you have an idea for a nice wheelcover for the Unimog? Especially for the U406? And the next challenge. A rim for a large tractor in the scale 1/12,5... Pat Quote
efferman Posted March 5, 2014 Author Posted March 5, 2014 (edited) I will search for pictures and then look what i can do. The rim, which tires to use? Edited March 5, 2014 by efferman Quote
Pat-Ard Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 OK, thanks in advance... Regarding the rims. They should fit the scale 1/12,5 for example a Claas Xerion. I don't know the size of the original rims... Tires may be come from http://www.barnhausen.de Pat Quote
efferman Posted March 5, 2014 Author Posted March 5, 2014 I need the exact tire, because there are many different sizes. Are the tires full rubber or are they like lego tires? Quote
Pat-Ard Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 The original Xerion has a 710/70R42 tire. In the scale 1/12,5 the tire should have an outer diameter of about 150mm... The Barnhausen wheel no. 8077 should fit best... Quote
efferman Posted March 6, 2014 Author Posted March 6, 2014 pat-ard for the u406 rim, is this ok for you? or the beading more thick 0406 felgenabdeckung von efferman auf Flickr Quote
stefan_betula_pendula Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 (edited) Looks great! Is it possible to show how this wheel cover would look when mounted on the original lego rim? Is this Wheel cover only mounted via the axle hole or does the 4 edges have any clipping function? @ Pat-Ard: Why not use a 900/60 R 42 as reference? This is also possible on the Xerion 5000. Just more expensive... Edited March 6, 2014 by stefan_betula_pendula Quote
efferman Posted March 6, 2014 Author Posted March 6, 2014 no, the 4 cut-outs are only for optical reasons. i will make a simple rim to show how it looks in the rim Quote
Pat-Ard Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 @efferman, the covers are great. I wouldnn't change anything. @stefan: yes, only more expensive. Quote
efferman Posted March 6, 2014 Author Posted March 6, 2014 so here is the look with rim u406 von efferman auf Flickr Quote
Pat-Ard Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 effe: that's really cool. Are those covers are avaiable on shapeways? Quote

efferman Posted March 6, 2014 Author Posted March 6, 2014 (edited) the rims for the xerion should the fit on my planetary gear? and i need the exact dimensions of the rim, because the tires are full rubber so they cant be squeezed Edited March 6, 2014 by efferman Quote
Pat-Ard Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 Yes, I think that would be the best, if the fit the original Lego hubs. OK, therefor I have to do some more research... Quote
Cumulonimbus Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 so here is the look with rim u406 von efferman auf Flickr Nice, I would love something similar for the Unimog U500. Quote
efferman Posted March 6, 2014 Author Posted March 6, 2014 pat ard, i have made a rough sketch and one rim would cost roundabout 45 euros at cumulonimbus, no problem Quote
Pat-Ard Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 wow, that's a number ;-) I'll try to get contact to the tire manufacturer. There are some things I would like to ask him. After that I think we can get into the details... Quote
skppo Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 These are some nice parts and it's cool to see you taking requests. Quote
