January 14, 201510 yr Holy cajoli, I forgot to mention this a while back! One of my very very reliable sources claims that we will see one other Pirates set in 2015... a Pirates Chess set! Very exciting news if you ask me! YES YES YES YES JA JA JA JA, JUUUUHUUU
January 14, 201510 yr Does anyone have a decent printer? I'd love to see what the treasure map download looks like shrunken down and printed out small enough to go on a 2 x 2 tile.

January 14, 201510 yr Please don't be old news... -Sci Great site! Very simple but I love this map you can lay all the sets on.

January 17, 201510 yr I just ordered the two sails without skulls from the Brickbeard's Bounty (they are getting quite rare...) set to replace the skull sails on the Brick Bounty when it's released. Are they the same size and colour? Why do they have to have those sails? Why would the pirates announce so blatantly that they are pirates? </3 Anyways... So looking forward to the bluecoats now. Oh, I also ordered a used Soldiers' Fort from 2009. Will be nice to compare it to the new Soldiers' Fort, and to have some battles between the Lobsters and Frogs.
January 17, 201510 yr That is a good idea about replacing the sails. But altough the big skulls on the sails are stupied and somewhat unrealistic, I guess we all know why they are there.

The sails are getting rare - but actually based on the poor quality of the sails you can as well go for your own printed versions on standard paper! Battles between red and blue? -> go for it!
January 17, 201510 yr Love that map, could see it going well in a coffe table base display with a glass top.. ships mast are a bit tall so would need to be a custom job
January 19, 201510 yr I just visited a toy shop, to which I often go. I asked the owner when the pirates stuff is coming out. He said he doesn't know if it will be released at all, because it isn't in the product catalogue he got for 2015. I also cannot find the new sets on the lego.com shop (though I'm on a phone now so it might be that...). They haven't cancelled pirates I hope? :(
January 19, 201510 yr I'm sure Lego pirates are still being released. Probably not until March or April for most areas. I don't believe TLG would go through the trouble of designing an entire theme with new molds, and create a website that contains images and video for each set to cancel it all last minute.
January 19, 201510 yr Serious question: If the new bandanas are incredibly poorly received, does anyone think TLG would switch to the original mold next time?
January 19, 201510 yr Serious question: If the new bandanas are incredibly poorly received, does anyone think TLG would switch to the original mold next time? Maybe they'll do the same thing they did with the new Lone Ranger revolver gun molds.I mean after the Lone Ranger line ended those guns were gone.Maybe those new bandanas are one time off,I dunno maybe Lego needs to hear people's opinion about the new bandanas and how they don't like them.
January 19, 201510 yr Wow, that bandana is even worse than I initially thought. I'd love to hear the story behind this new mold, because it makes absolutely zero sense to me.

But the Lone Ranger revolvers were excellent! I didn't see any reason to go back to the old version! Different situation with the bandana...
January 19, 201510 yr But the Lone Ranger revolvers were excellent! I didn't see any reason to go back to the old version! Different situation with the bandana... I agree the LN revolver was an excellent successor of the original piece and it's a damn shame that Lego forgot about it.But of course this is not the case with this subject, because the new bandana looks does disappointing.I wonder when Lego considers it's time to upgrade a certain piece.
January 20, 201510 yr The issue with the LR guns was probably a licensing issue, given that the mold was supposed to represent a movie prop. The baldric mold from POTC falls under this, which is why it was only reused in LR (Disney license). I actually like the new design of the bandana. It would probably be best in black, though. I want it in that color quite a bit; for a Dread Pirate Roberts fig.
January 20, 201510 yr Count me in as one of the people in favor of the new bandanna. The old one was a big part of my childhood, but frankly its lumpiness and asymmetricality always struck me as weird. The new one looks more like what I think you'd get if you tied a bandanna around a cylindrical minifigure head. It just looks nicer, and its neater appearance seems like it'd be more versatile for characters other than scalawags and ne'er-do-wells. I do, however, think a new monkey would be nice. We've got a new croc with printed eyes, and according to Brickset a new shark with printed eyes is being phased in as well. It's about time our primate relatives got eyes more like regular minifigs! January 20, 201510 yr The issue with the LR guns was probably a licensing issue, given that the mold was supposed to represent a movie prop. The baldric mold from POTC falls under this, which is why it was only reused in LR (Disney license). Also, the older version of the revolver is more generic, with more connections points, which translates to more potential uses, unlike the LR one, which could only be held/clipped in one place, and only looked like a revolver. I actually like the new design of the bandana. It would probably be best in black, though. I want it in that color quite a bit; for a Dread Pirate Roberts fig. Although I still think the bandanna didn't need a new mold - and I'm all for the old one coming back into use - I'm actually not quite as against it, now that I've seen it more in the flesh. LEGO is going to run into problems, though, when they need a generic "head-rag" piece, like they used for the CMF Mechanic, Dengar, etc. I do, however, think a new monkey would be nice. We've got a new croc with printed eyes, and according to Brickset a new shark with printed eyes is being phased in as well. It's about time our primate relatives got eyes more like regular minifigs! I'm afraid I have to disagree with you there - the monkey is a classic staple, with a mold that works perfectly. Don't break what's already working!
January 20, 201510 yr Wow, that bandana is even worse than I initially thought. I'd love to hear the story behind this new mold, because it makes absolutely zero sense to me. If they ever make a statement, it will probably be something like, "A focus group of children told us they would like their pirate minifigures to have balloons in place of heads." Where are people getting this Juniors set? It doesn't appear to be released in the US.
