^That would be cool and hope but I will be a pessimist and say or predict that TLG won´t make a exclusive set for the 2015 Pirates.

Why, because it seem that there has been an lack of interest in Lego pirates and other themes, like Castle among kids in general.

Don´t know, my kids love both pirates and knights.

...and here's the mock-up with 2009's 6242: Soldiers Fort:

I wanted to play around with the LDD to POV-Ray Converter and render something quickly.

This is what I've come up with after adding some more parts to the scene:

I hope this helps people better understand what the new soldier sets will look like as compared to the 2009 set.

FYI: The LXF file for 6242: Soldier's Fort is from from AndyC's post in the Official LEGO Sets made in LDD thread.

I have to agree with you. Consider the most recent Castle theme it was been aimed at a more junior target market, like the new Pirates theme, therefore it's a good benchmark. There have been no exclusive sets for 2013 Castle. It makes sense, the younger builders that are the target market aren't going to strive for a larger (more expensive) tougher challenge and their parents won't buy them something that is beyond their abilities; therefore an exclusive isn't likely. Contrast that with the previous Kingdoms and Pirates waves that were aimed at a slightly older age bracket where there were exclusives because the older age bracket could cope with and aspire to the complexity that tends to come with exclusive builds.

We do know that Pirate ships obviously sell ok (TLG manage to release one a year like clockwork), so it may be that we'll see an exclusive ship released if nothing else.

Of course with a new PotC movie due for release next year there will no doubt be at least one ship released for that which may mean we don't get a ship exclusive for this theme.

I was pretty disappointed from the first images, but again my 2p... the way they tried to make this guys look like those from 25 years ago is something that I give value to.

Redbeard seems pretty similar, so the other minifigures. Ok, sets are not that rich in pieces, but actually apart from some ones, they never have been. So I will buy this weave in multiples just hoping that St.Amazon does its work well.

What are you talking about POTC 5 isn't coming out until 2017

Sorry - I was putting us in 2015 already, thinking POTC 5 would be out in 2016. A2017 release certainly does increase the chances of us getting a regular Pirates UCS ship, I'll admit.

Yeah but you never know Lego could surprise us. I don't remember the castle theme very recently getting a flagship or UCS type set that Pirates did with the Imperial Flagship so you never know. And if this wave sells well or if they want to in general because the sets are lacking it, they might make a small type of Imperial ship for the Blue coats, which would be awesome to have since the Pirates outnumber the imperials quite a bit with ships over the years its about time that they get a new one.

A few people have pointed out that the most recent Castle line didn't get a big D2C set, therefore this Pirates theme won't either, but if you look at when the big Castle sets were released, they were in 2009 and 2012, so having one earlier than 2015 could have been too soon. The last big Pirate set was in 2010, which is plenty of time ago.

It has already been mentioned that this Pirates is aimed at a slightly younger age bracket than the last version. The same thing happened with Castle: 2013 was aimed at a younger market than Kingdoms. The big Kingdoms set is still available from Lego SaH.

This is only speculation, but if there is a second wave of the new Pirates, there may be a Bluecoat ship sometime around the 'holiday season' next year. It might not be as big as the pirates' ship, which would be good IMO.

Has Lego ever given us an actual non-enemy merchant vessel? The closest I think they came was the Islanders' Catamaran. Come on, Lego, who are these pirates supposed to be plundering from?

What proof do we have that this wave is aimed at a younger bracket?

The opinion of an ageing population to whom Lego set designs seem to be getting less sophisticated every year. :)

Other than that, the ages on the boxes are exactly the same, so none.

A small merchant ship came in the imperial trading post, but that was tiny, and there has never been a standalone merchant ship.

I agree with gedren. Maybe the reason we didn't get a D2C set with the most recent castle sets is because the Kingdms joust set is still available. What do you guys think then. I hope we do get a Blue coat ship for two reasons. 1 the blue coats need more than a fort to go against the pirates, and two it has been 25 years since the carribean clipper set came out in 1989. They need a new ship.

Just a thought... Have you noticed the mast pieces on the Brick Bounty? They aren't those expensive pillars from the Imperial Flagship, they are new mast pieces (and I'm not sure if I like them).

It looks as though they have a 2x4 base unlike the 2x2 bases on the existing 2x2x11 columns.

If that's the case, then I think they improve in one area as the connection should be stronger and won't rely on joining to something like a Brick 4X4 Round and a Cross Axle like on the 4184: The Black Pearl, 4195: Queen Anne's Revenge, and 10210: Imperial Flagship.

One thing I'm unsure of is if it's all one piece extending up to the platforms where the lattices connect.

If it is, then we lose a little of the versatility of the shorter columns used on previous ships where we were able to vary the height of the masts by combining with other pieces.

A prime example of this is the first mast on 4184: The Black Pearl and the middle mast of 10210: Imperial Flagship.

I really think it's a completely different piece from those pillars. If you look very closely on the masts on the Brick Bounty, you can see that things stick out directly from the mastpiece. So I think there are holes for technic pins in them. I hope we'll get better pictures soon... And I hope the pieces are good : P

Agreed. It looks like a completely new piece with technic pin holes.

That's nice and all, but it seems like an unnecessary new part.

On that note: are there any other new pieces in the 2015 sets other than the new headscarf?

I see the use of 2014 pieces, like the Plate (A) 4M 45° in 70411: Treasure Island & 70412 - Soldiers Fort and the Mini Shooter in all but the 70410: Soldiers Outpost.

Otherwise, it's just existing parts with new colors - like the Profile Brick 1X2 Single Gro..

I don't expect something extraordinary, so hardly I will be disappointed. Take my advice. You won't see a Pirates line like the early 90s. Forget about it.

So... according with the images that we've seen and the sentences above, it doesn't look bad. The sets are quite simple, like the 2009 wave, but the minifigs and the accessories look very well. And despite this simplicity in the sets and structures, it seems that this 2005 wave is a real tribute to the old classic pirates. And we have'nt seen yet the rest of the sets.

Being realistic, and knowing that the old Pirates from the 90s won't come again, I think that maybe we'll have some very interesting new sets.

And we'll see if the bluecoats will be given a decent ship. If not, it would be a terrible mistake. The same error happened in 2009, but it was "corrected" with the awesome Imperial Flagship: Lego closed the last Pirates wave with a BANG!.

There's the new sawfish head, and Treasure Island probably includes the new crocodile seen in the swamp sets in next year's City lineup. Speaking of which, I don't suppose anyone's dug up a finalized image of Treasure Island anywhere? That's the one set for which I'm most excited.

Good points.

That doesn't account for many new parts beyond animals.

I suppose TLG is in a position now where they think their part molds are pretty well perfected.

I haven't seen any finalized images for 70411: Treasure Island but just sent a message to just2good to see if he's been able to track any down.

We'll see...
