jodawill Posted December 11, 2014 Posted December 11, 2014 About that,I'm disappointed that we still don't have new molded pistols. Not I. Redesigns are a risky business. They rarely work out. The new horse is one of the few exceptions where the new mold was actually an improvement. The Lone Ranger guns looked like Playmobil. Quote
Sigolf Brimabane Posted December 11, 2014 Posted December 11, 2014 I wouldn't want new pistol and rifle molds : P They still look awesome. Timeless designs. I really hope the new bandana doesn't look as odd as it does in the pictures... Otherwise I'll try to BL some I guess, or use the few old ones I have. I have two old monkeys so I don't miss it that much. It's good with lego, if you don't like the new animals, you can just use the old ones. Really looking forward to the figures and the ship. I feel sorry that I don't have any of the classic panel pieces :/ They are probably expensive nowadays. Quote
Matthias Posted December 11, 2014 Posted December 11, 2014 The biggest german classic catalog company says the sets are available in two weeks!!!! Maybe wrong or not??? https://www.otto.de/...ionId=446897906 I got a call from OTTO and they told me, that they will deliver in march. So I was right, unfortunatelly You are not wrong because the Lego official stores in Germany do expect several of the Pirates sets ( but not all ) to be available for us as from 16.12.2014. I phoned with the official store in Hamburg, too and the staff told me they don´t get anything of pirates in the next time. Quote
Mazin Posted December 11, 2014 Posted December 11, 2014 I got a call from OTTO and they told me, that they will deliver in march. Eeee? So we'll really have to WAIT until march? No f... waaaaaaaaaaay I really hope the new bandana doesn't look as odd as it does in the pictures... Yeah, same with me man. And the funniest thing is that they used old ones for those preproduced boxes. Seriously, i still hope that it's just a small mistake or something, cause i can't find a reason behind this change. To say more, old bandana looked more acurate and detailed, this new one look more like a beanie Quote
Captain Braunsfeld Posted December 12, 2014 Posted December 12, 2014 About that,I'm disappointed that we still don't have new molded pistols. To me, the pistols don't look good since I've seen the work of some customizing shops. Once you've seen a decent flintlock pistol you don't use the official version any more. I got a call from OTTO and they told me, that they will deliver in march. So I was right, unfortunatelly Quote

Once you've seen a decent flintlock pistol you don't use the official version any more. That's exactly what I mean.Seeing that there are already costumized pistols out there that look even better than the officials and not having Lego make an upgrade on them is disappointing. Quote
Mazin Posted December 12, 2014 Posted December 12, 2014 I can't agree with You about that, completely. Like I said before, Lego was always about simplicity. Both pistol and musket should RESEMBLE old classic guns, bring somewhat fairytale feel to that theme, it doesn't have to look exactly like a real pistol. Let's not turn Lego into Playmobile or G.I.Joe, where you can have much more detailed style. Quote
Pulp Detective Posted December 12, 2014 Posted December 12, 2014 Maybe they should let the classic design intact this time. But I hope they'll make a new mold when the new POTC sets come out. Quote
activiapeche Posted December 12, 2014 Posted December 12, 2014 Agree, timeless design. Maybe they'll try something with a future POTC wave like they did for Lone Ranger but well, these pistols where in my opinion less good looking than the old ones. Look at the new croco mold, more a playmobil vibe due to the eye I guess, I liked the old ones more ... but maybe it's the nostalgic part that guides me ? Quote
Pulp Detective Posted December 12, 2014 Posted December 12, 2014 I actually really like the new croc. And yes I believe that nostalgia plays a big part on peoples opinion and don't misunderstand,I like the classic pistols but I wouldn't mind Lego making new ones like they did in Lone Ranger. Quote
Mazin Posted December 12, 2014 Posted December 12, 2014 Nostalgia is always a big part, some people wouldn't change a thing! That's for sure But it's not what I mean. There're hundreds and thousands of things that need change and fresh approach, even within the toy industry, but there's no need to change something that still works well, just because there's a fashion to remodell and redesign everywhere. Observing trends is one thing, using them properly is another Quote
Diamondback Posted December 12, 2014 Posted December 12, 2014 I *hope* that 16 Dec report is accurate, and in US too--I have $125 in VIP Rewards that goes up in smoke at the end of the month unless I find something to use 'em on. Too bad they couldn't make it the 14th for Double VIP Rewards Day... :( Quote
Mazin Posted December 12, 2014 Posted December 12, 2014 Then spend it on anything anyway or give them to maste You dont wanna loose anything that is available for free Quote
Pulp Detective Posted December 12, 2014 Posted December 12, 2014 Well I'm saving money for that ship,I wont make the same mistake I did with Brickbeard's Bounty. Quote

They're very nice molds in their own right, but they look absolutely nothing like Lego pieces. They look like Playmobil, not Lego. If TLG made something like this, I would just sell off all of them and replace them with the originals. Quote

Those are very accurate reproductions, but Lego minifgs are very simplistic which causes a clash of asthetics for me. Not worthwhile to replace all my bell ended muskets at this point. One new thing I wouldn't mind are some clip-on bayonets. I can make my own of course using a grab tile and a tooth tile, but I'd rather have something a bit thinner; pure wishlisting on my part though. Quote

Matthias Posted December 16, 2014 Posted December 16, 2014 ARRRRRRR Here it stands red-white on blue it will come all in April 2015 Quote
TheMomiX Posted December 16, 2014 Posted December 16, 2014 Exactly confirmed for April, I'm not in the skin!!! Quote
Mazin Posted December 16, 2014 Posted December 16, 2014 (edited) O common! I've been asking those damn salesmen for like two months, incase they would get some 2015 sets BEFORE 2015, just like You get a lot of stuff earlier than a date of release. And now it's april?? maybe they just wanted to say that it's STILL gonna be fresh and new in april. You know, cause in may it's gonna be already old, unpopular and not woth a penny.
