I have a question regarding the chess set. Forgive me if it has been asked, but after searching some threads, there is not mention of it, but......

What exactly is the brick built structure on the Pirate's side acting as the knight supposed to be?

I think its supposed to be some kind of head statue.

I went to BR and bought three blue baseplates. I used the opportunity to inquire about why the pirate sets haven't yet hit the shelves in Scandinavia. They didn't know but in the catalogue it said they should be out in March. So possibly later this month.

Are you sure about that? The catalogue I looked in here in Denmark did *not* have the sets at all.

I tried contacting LEGO about the issue, but they just brushed me off with a non-answer.

Jeg er helt sikker. It looked like the same catalogue as the one I have at home, but on the last page it has the pirate sets and it says "Nytt i mars". So they must have updated the catalogues. I didn't take one so I don't have pictoral evidence. But that's how it is. Hopefully they'll turn up in a few days.

Just got and build the Brick Bounty, and it is an amazing ship! It is my first pirate ship (not first ship, viking longboat was the first). Love the ship, the bluecoats are amazing (shame the sergeant didn't get a hat) and i love the cook. He has a drunk face, love that.

Hey, don't forget that the 'Report your Latest Pirate Acquisitions' page is over here... I think most people come to this page for news and rumours, but lately about 50% of it has been people reporting their latest pirate acquisitions.pirate_laugh2.gif

I just bought/built The Brick Bounty today and added my own modifications to it. My only complaint about the ship is the front sail was only printed on one side, it should have either been printed on both sides or left blank. The only other ship I have to compare it to is the 6271 Imperial Flagship, so I must say I'm impressed.

4 cannons in place.

I added a second chain to hold the flag in place and but a brown cone on the tip.

I added 2 small pirate flags to the top of both masts because I felt they needed it.

Has anyone else noticed that the cannons are a new color? The 2009 cannons were sparkly with a yellowish tint. The new cannons are extra dark bluish gray.

Do we all agree that this will be it for this reiteration of Pirates? The Brick Bounty is great but the auxillary land sets leave much to be desired.

I actually felt exactly the opposite. The Brick Bounty is a slightly modified replica of the 2009 ship, but the land sets are far more detailed and include more features and better figs than the 2009 equivalents. My only complaint is that there aren't more of them.

I noticed that they looks different. I think the old ones are locking more in the silver direction, while the new are locking darker. I am not sure that this is intented.

Bricklinks calls both perl dark grey

Yeah, pearl dark grey was replaced around 2010 by titanium metallic. So that's the color the new cannons are.

I understand we're not getting any sets this summer, but is there any hope for a few sets in 2016? Or is this the end of the line for the pirates? I mean, I've already gotten three of the sets, and they're good, but nothing compared to the previous Pirate waves. There are only 5 sets to get, 6 including the chess set. I'm a bit bummed out if this is the end of Pirates for now (already).

From the rumors we've been getting, I believe Castle will be the big new theme for 2016. I wouldn't be surprised if we saw a single large D2C set though, like we got with the last wave.
