rodiziorobs Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 Crap, with more awesome stuff coming out next year how will my wallet ever forgive me? Seriously, this is great news. Can't wait for official confirmation and set pics. Quote
Pulp Detective Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 Wow is this list official??If yes you made my day mate, finally Pirates are back!!! Quote
David Thomsen Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 (edited) If you don't mind, where do you work? This is awesome! Thanks for the list, man. I'd rather not say specifically, but it's a retail store in New Zealand. I can't really give any proof that these are real, but I'm sure other sources will hopefully back me up now that the information is available. I'm sure other retailers have this information also, so someone could try going somewhere else and asking them to search their system for these set descriptions. I've found that staff will often oblige with this. And also there should be small impulse sets that I don't have the names for. Edit: Also, just noticed a Juniors set called 'Pirate Treasure Hunt' for 19.99 NZD. Not quite as interesting, but still Pirate related. Edited August 27, 2014 by David Thomsen Quote

And, if you have any info on other themes, anything is accepted. Glad to hear the Juniors theme is coming back- guess it's time for a new topic on that! Quote
Mr. Elijah Timms Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 I can't help but assume that Pirates will be a summer release, perhaps in June? Do you have any release date info? Quote
David Thomsen Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 I can't help but assume that Pirates will be a summer release, perhaps in June? Do you have any release date info? The computer had early April as the 'release date', but as I said our system isn't the most reliable in this respect. I'm hoping someone can do some digging and find something to back my information up. I don't have any set numbers for example. Quote
Hive Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 Fantastic news, thanks for sharing David! I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it will be of a quality achin to the 2009 theme and that they won't botch it like they did the last Castle line... Quote
Only Sinner Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 I tend to agree with Hive, here. I hope they make the whole line into really cool sets, and not all kiddy carnival colorful. If it's cool, I'll buy them all. If not, good for my wallet! Quote
The_Cook Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 (edited) Fantastic news, thanks for sharing David! I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it will be of a quality achin to the 2009 theme and that they won't botch it like they did the last Castle line... At least Pirates aren't having to compete with an existing line, as Castle 2013 had to against LoTR, which is why Castle was targeted at a younger audience. That doesn't mean that it won't be targeted at a younger audience with no news of Castle in 2015 perhaps Pirates replaces it as the entry level "historic" theme. Ultimately TLG is in the business of selling to kids so they're going to target kids and that may well mean simpler builds than the AFOL community would like. Get the bricks, build your own! Looking through the prices: $12 - Probably 2 minifigs and a raft or piece of scenery $20 - Probably 3 minifigs and some scenery, think army builders see 60042 High Speed Chase for an example of the sort of size that you'd get. $40 - Probably 4 minifigs, approximately 400 pieces. 70163 Toxikita's Toxic Meltdown for an example of the sort of size that you'd get. Could easily get you something akin to Soldiers' Fort from 2009. $90 - Probably 7 minifigs, it's obviously a ship. I can't see it being quite as big as 6243 Brickbeard's Bounty given that that retailed for $100 six years ago. I'll let your imaginations run riot, but that should give them some sensible boundaries to run within! Edited August 27, 2014 by The_Cook Quote
deskp Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 From the names of the sets. it sounds like they are basicaly just making the same thigsn from 2009 over again.. I was hoping for some new types of locations and stuff. Quote
General Magma Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 Glad to hear the Juniors theme is coming back- guess it's time for a new topic on that! That does not mean the 4+ Juniors theme, but rather the more recent easy-to-build sets with regular minifigures, such as the Batman and TMNT Juniors sets that have been available for a while now. I know, I just thought that the Juniors theme (yes, the 2014 one) was going to be done this year, as they didn't seem to sell much... but it's coming back, next year. Quote
Matteo1130 Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 I'm afraid the only sets wich worths its price will be the cheapest ones, like 6239 in 2009. Rising by price usually pirates sets keeps designed for kids, but prices are for collectors. I'm honestly asking myself why, because in other themes (star wars for example) some clever and stimulating technique is associated to more expensive set. In order to this, a ship is usually released in every pirate theme, but we still see the same design: flat ribbed sides and rised stern. Said so, I'm probably buying those the same, it's just a reflection.. Quote
HomerJSimpson Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 Just2Good, the price you put up doesn't match what I found for The Brick Bounty. I converted it on Google. I typed in, 180 NZD to USD, and what I found was that it SHOULD be about $150 the ship. If you don't mind me asking, where did you find the conversions? Quote

Piranha Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 Great to have the Pirates theme return, it will be awhile before POTC is made again, so this is very welcomed. With the news of TLM, Jurassic World, Marvel, DC and now Pirate sets, 2015 looks to be one of the best years in a long time. Quote
HomerJSimpson Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 I looked at the New Zealand S@H page, and compared the prices of sets to their US prices. Oh. Well I guess that your's is more likely to be right. Quote
Slurpifier Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 It seems every year, the quality of Lego gets better and better! I'm quite happy about this! Quote
ghostmind Posted August 28, 2014 Posted August 28, 2014 70409 - Shipwreck Defense 70410 - Soldiers Outpost with Pirate Raft 70411 - Pirate Treasure Island 70412 - Soldier's Fort 70413 - The Brick Bounty Quote
Roebuck Posted August 28, 2014 Posted August 28, 2014 Sounds great, looking forward to see the pictures Do you think that we will get red coats again or return of the blue coats this time? Hopefully the line will be followed by a D2C set and/or a second line with more civilian based sets like the excellent 7189 Mill Village Raid Quote
narbilu Posted August 28, 2014 Posted August 28, 2014 From the names of the sets. it sounds like they are basicaly just making the same thigsn from 2009 over again.. I was hoping for some new types of locations and stuff. I had the same feeling... so disappointing Quote
Hive Posted August 28, 2014 Posted August 28, 2014 Do you think that we will get red coats again or return of the blue coats this time? Blue coats would be awesome, it's what I grew up with. About the complaints that the names sound too much like the sets from the last line... what else would you want? There are some sets that are given for a Pirates theme, sets that has always been done: Pirate ship Good guys forttress Pirate island hideout Pirate raft Those are pretty much always a given, as they represent what kids know about pirates from popular culture. And honestly, I don't mind at all - it's always nice with fresh takes on old classics. As long as they make sure they're somewhat fresh and not just boring rehashes (like the last Castle theme). WhiteFang Posted August 28, 2014 Posted August 28, 2014 Pleased to hear one of my favourite LEGO themes returning! Quote
David Thomsen Posted August 28, 2014 Posted August 28, 2014 About the complaints that the names sound too much like the sets from the last line... what else would you want? Personally the generic names of the sets appeal to me, I like Lego Pirates for being Lego Pirates and these set descriptions sound very Lego Piratey. Better than the alternative, which is to make the sets too gimmicky with names like 'Pirate Earth-Power Fight for Blue Crystal' or whatever. Pirate boats, forts, treasure islands, cannon battles... these are a few of my favourite things. Quote
