I complete agree,by looking at those sets you can see how little effort was put to them...which is quit sad since it's Lego way of saying "The golden age of the Pirates line is over, that of course doesn't mean we'll stop making them but the future sets wont be as epic as was the original sets."

Pretty much my thoughts 100%, I do not know why they do this it is just so obviously half-you-know-what-ed lol

... Just compare the ship to the last one. So similar, right down to the name. And hardly any advertising or announcements, it's like they sent the set out to die.

I do want to point out it were us AFOL's who had to come up with the name of the ship...

But I do agree I miss advertising...

Have to disagree about the Island,I'm sure if the designers had time to put more effort into the set it would have been better. The more I'm looking at it the more it seems that it lacks something. But I'm excited about The Brick Bounty since it'll be my first Lego ship!!!!

Putting the two lines next to eachother. I can't find that many similarities... Really every set is completely different... (Except for the ships)

I agree but comparing the 2009 fort with this years you can cleary see that it lacks the creativity the 2009 had.Or the pirate hideout from the 2009 is alot richer from this years treasure island set.Still that's my opinion. Edited by LOTR34

I think judging the 2015 fort as it is is like judging the 2009 fort with the jail cell removed. It's intended to go with the outpost. You could criticise Lego for selling it in two parts but I think it makes the sets more accessible to people who wouldn't be able to afford a whole large fort. The 2009 theme didn't have any decent soldier-themed sets under the price point of the fort. I think it works this way. One of my favourite set's as a kid was Sabre Island, that was the most expensive Pirate set my parents ever bought me.

Maxim I,

I removed your YouTube video preview from your signature. Site Guidelines state:

Signatures: As a rough rule, you may use up to four pictures each with a maximum pixel height of 200, a file size of 250k and no more than 200 words. If your sig is bigger than your average post, it can confuse someone reading a thread and you may be asked to reduce it, or a staff member may do it for you. Some exceptions may be made on a case by case basis, but please try to limit the space you use. Font size should be kept to a minimum: ideally no bigger than size 3. No animated GIFs are to be used in your signatures.

Your signature was much larger than your average post and took up the majority of my computer screen.

I'm going to say 70412: Soldiers Fort because it is the largest set within that budget. pirate_laugh2.gif

Actually, that and 70410: Soldiers Outpost come in under US$50 if you buy them together, and they attach to each other to make a larger fort, so perfect!

You get three ranks of regular Soldier, the special 'female' soldier, three pirates (although only two sets of unique pirate parts sadly), two cannons, two different kinds of sea vessel, a selection of pretty much every possible kind of pirate-themed accessory.

Thank you for the advice I only have the imperial armada from back in the day and I want to expand my pirate theme but I really don't care for pirates. But of course I will by the UCS set next year for sure.

yeah brick bounty has a lot of problems, I've seen reported issues with parts missing from both treasure island and soldier outpost. The chess set is blatantly wrong in design. Feels like someone just phoned-it-in this time. c'mon Lego group, where's the quality!? Where's the love?

What's up with the wrong head problem that the pirate sets are having?I'm about to order TBB so I hope i wont have the same problem.pirate_sceptic.gif

TBB has 2 issues: Admiral head provided in some sets is of wrong type. And the Hull has little gap when attached to other hull.

parts missing from both treasure island and soldier outpost.

Strange!...mine is complete

This is strange to hear there are so many issues with TBB. I bought my Brick Bounty 3 weeks after the pirates theme was released and I got the correct Admiral head.

Out of curious, did anyone get a BB with hull pieces that fit together perfectly? Some people got the correct head and some people got the new head but I don't think I've read of anyone who got satisfactory hull pieces. From what someone said in another thread about white hull pieces, it sounds like the mould for these parts has been gradually deteriorating, so it sounds like all hull pieces in the BB will have this issue unless they had some old pieces left over from the BBB.

I have yet another question so I bought the soldiers fort along with the soldiers outpost but when I went to the lego store I saw the treasure island set and that set reminded me of childhood with the old skull gate treasure island type sets so I went ahead and picked it up when I built it I noticed the treasure island can be combined with shipwreck defense. Do you think it is worth picking up shipwreck defense or spending my money on the speed champions la Ferrari?

Nah,even thought the Shipwreck set has some nice parts in it and it's a nice little set overall, combined with the treasure island doesn't really add much like the outpost does with the fort.I would suggest to buy the Ferrari.

I would have loved this theme if it had a "Good Pirates Vs Evil Pirates" theme and the evil pirates can be like skeletons and ghosts and we can get really cool ghost ships and traditional pirate ships for the good pirates, I think that would have sold people more on this theme...

Agreed,by my point of view the old pirate formula (pirates vs red/bluecoats) is getting old.By mixing some fantasy elements would make this theme even better.

Different people prefer different things. I understand there are many fans who would like to see the inclusion of fantasy elements like skeleton crews, mythical powers, etc, both for ships and general sets, but there are many others (myself included) who are quite happy with the "old formula" of pirates battling colonial/imperial powers. Should TLG release a wave of fantasy Pirates it would attract some and repel others. Considering the number of existing fantasy/sci-fi themes, the occasional appearance of the Pirates line, the expectations of most fans of the theme from previous and current sets, and - perhaps most importantly - the existence of POTC, I think it's unlikely we'll see a fantasy System wave anytime soon. But don't give up hope: the ongoing conversation regarding the forthcoming BotBS contains numerous references to greater fantasy content. If more people ask for it and especially depict it within their own builds I suspect TLG would be more likely to produce it in the future. Still, that would risk losing sales to people like myself, even though I might not walk away entirely. While I don't care for the material, I certainly appreciate creativity and good building skills when I see it. Case in point: GoH. I spend some time there viewing and posting replies due to the creative aspect, but the seemingly all-inclusive approach toward magic and especially mythical races doesn't interest me in the least. I think most Pirates fans will be tolerant of fantasy elements in future sets so long as it doesn't dominate the theme. Again, different things for different people.

I'm thinking of the Fantasy Castle theme from 2007 to 2009 that ended with the Medieval Market Village in 2009. I wasn't that interested in the theme itself, but I love the MMV. Quite often a good D2C set is worth an entire theme - if I could only keep one or the other, I don't know whether it would be the entire 2009 Pirates theme or just the 2010 Imperial Flagship. I suspect I would keep the latter.

So in my mind a Fantasy Pirate theme that ends with a good non-Fantasy D2C would be an excellent compromise. And the Fantasy Castle theme had plenty of non-Fantasy castle elements as well.

Not for the 5-12 year-olds it isnt. And since thats who TLG is catering to, we probably wont see any change. Not counting that the long gap between pirate themes also means that the formula doesnt seem so repetitive (and Pirate-starved fans are glad to get any theme at all).

Oh, and PotC...

That's my problem. If the gap between each pirate wave was 1 or atleast 2 years then I'm sure we would get more variety. But since there is a long gap between the waves then the old formula will keep up.Thank the God we have the PotC line and since the next movie will feature ghost pirates that's something.
