I've been digging my way through this topic to see what the evidence of the DTC/UCS pirate set is, but can't find anything at all. What's the argument for there being one?

Not so much a rumour, but Toys R Us Canada just put all the Pirates line a 20% off this week. Trying not to read anything into it, but figure I'd share the info all the same.

I have no trouble envisioning a D2C set based on known TLG behaviors but a true UCS set is stretching it for me. While I'm playing with abbreviations I'll say the closest we'll probably come to the latter is a MOC called "DIY." I'd like to believe in it, and I'd happily buy it, but Pirates isn't exactly the most powerful or popular brand. Maybe if we threaten to sack their ports, plunder their ships and keel-haul the scurvy lubbers... Oh well. Wait and see!

A retro set with the new bandana and that palm tree..... sure pirate_hmpf.gif

Is there any chance lego will bring a set out whith islanders? is i really like them but don't have any.

There is one in CMF S11....

He doesn't have the classic face though

What's wrong with the new bandana? I think it's way better.

Nah, I like it too, it's just that this is supposed to be like a classic Pirates set. But, the same happened with last year's helmet on the classic Space set like this. There's more modern stuff here however, like the printed flag, bottle piece, and the Technic tree.

What about this set is supposed to be retro? Not the bandana, the palm tree, the face, the torso, the flag, or the bottle.

This one's going to get two thumbs down from me. The only interest I'd have in this is the booklet.

Yea no retro in that set, the shark is the new one also to include "non retro stuff" but I could show some intrest to it. How can one get it, is it for all Lego VIP or is it just some country exclusive?

EDIT: Okay (not ok-ey) I can see now that it says 2-11.7.2015

I must have this set as a collecter. As allways the good stuff, like this set, it will maybe only available in the US. I hope I am wrong, the Astronaut was the same. Now Soooo expansive in europe

The space one was available in Europe months before we even knew whether it would be released in the US.

so it looks like we get a pirate (new bandanna pirate_look.gif) Another sad raft for the pirate, bottle, sword, pirate flag which is not even classic, a new shark, a small palm with another black lantern piece, a bucket, a yellow gem, and some gold coins. Not to bad of a set.

Nice to see the Gold coins used again. This is a remake of one of the small classic pirates set but can´t find the number or image, does anyone remember what set it is?

Thats the most similar set I can find: 1481

1481-1.1121480541.thumb2.jpg

This set has a palm, but no shark, and a treasur chest:

1889-1.jpg

Its may a mix of both sets.

It looks like they tried to remake a classic set but just didn't have the parts any more. I wonder if this really does mean we'll never see the monkey again. At least it has coins though. The Space one was more true to Classic Space because the classic helmet was the only part not in production. I got that set and the quality wasn't so great, the white of the space torso was kind of off. It makes me dubious about the quality of this new torso (which seems to be a remake of the classic white/blue striped Pirate torso) but I'll definitely be getting this set anyway. Or at least... sourcing the torso.

The new torso looks interesting and the possibility of old-style gold coins is sweet. But the rest of the set is pretty bland. Not sure I'll want to spend €55 to get it.
