Mephek Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 http://shop.lego.com/en-US/Cat-s-Playground-41018?p=41018 The show is mainly about women, and it's "cats" playground. No scratching post is that color, it's flesh colored with a pink tip. It obviously looks like... you know what
David Thomsen Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 Actually I think it's a common enough scratching post colour, made of jute or cardboard or whatever. But the pink tip is indeed... unfortunate.
CityBuilder Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 That's a very interesting observation... I didn't notice that. I wonder if that was intended by the designer or just a very awkward coincidence.
Tereglith Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 My grandparents have a scratching post that looks like this, it's made of twine/wicker/whatever wrapped around a relatively springy metal core, and has a pink pom-pom on the end for the cat to play with. It's a fairly common design that, unfortunately, looks phallic when rendered in Lego. Context is everything, though, when ti comes to what's appropriate or inappropriate. While adults can notice the resemblance, to a little girl it'll just be a scratching post. There's all sorts of things that adults get upset over their kids seeing, but without the knowledge of an adult it's impossible to notice the 'innappropriate' things in the first place.
Dorayaki Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 Sorry? I don't see you're giving a specific topic to discuss and Friends belongs to the Town subforum. Are you new here?
TheRedGuy Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 It is obviously not intentional, unless Lego wants a lawsuit. But please, enough with your sick sexual references.
Rick Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 You seem to have a unique talent for spotting "inappropriateness" in LEGO products that no one else seems to see. Anyway, I don't see this discussion going anywhere, so I'm going to lock this thread.
