woody64 Posted May 13, 2007 Author Posted May 13, 2007 Cool torso's, are you going to have an army of these? I'm building up some soldiers to reproduce a drawing of the battle of fort malborghet. I will add some of these decals soon. Quote
Eurobricks Emperor Bonaparte Posted May 14, 2007 Eurobricks Emperor Posted May 14, 2007 The French Infantry Officer and Soldier are new ones? Those I haven't seen before. Do you also have a larger version for the library? I'll reply to your question "Would be nice to have a gallery of the stickers" in the library thread. Quote
El Bucanero Posted May 14, 2007 Posted May 14, 2007 It seems some talented torso designers joined the board when I was away! They look very clean and good. Bravo! Could you please take close-up pictures of your home made shakos? They look very good to me! Mr Tiber (Yeey, 2000 posts!) Quote

Yes they are new ones. I will upload a larger image to my brickshelf gallery later on. These decals are made based on a picture showing french troops storming the fort malborghet. Andreas Quote
woody64 Posted May 14, 2007 Author Posted May 14, 2007 Could you please take close-up pictures of your home made shakos? They look very good to me! Here are some pictures from some previous work. The Ulan, Husar, and top hat is made completly from some modelling clay. http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/woody64/...onic/Austrians/ There you also can see a top hat rasped down to a shako. Eurobricks Emperor Bonaparte Posted May 14, 2007 Eurobricks Emperor Posted May 14, 2007 I have a question that you or Mosana might be able to answer. What was the purpose of the metal plate? Quote
Mosana Posted May 14, 2007 Posted May 14, 2007 Yes. That is a gorget. It was a throwback to mediaeval armour, and was worn by officers of most countries in the Napoleonic Wars just as a way to distinguish them. Quote

Now I could find the relevant wikipedia article for gorget. Quote

Eurobricks Emperor Bonaparte Posted May 16, 2007 Eurobricks Emperor Posted May 16, 2007 Nice army! The line infantry torso looks very good on a minifig! Can you give us some background regarding the events at fort malborghet? I never heard about that fortress. Quote
woody64 Posted May 16, 2007 Author Posted May 16, 2007 Nice army! The line infantry torso looks very good on a minifig! Can you give us some background regarding the events at fort malborghet? I never heard about that fortress. Hptm Hensel got the task to stop the french forces when they followed the Austrian army 1809 through the Kanaltal (Friaul). This was achieved with the fort malborghet. There he stopped 50.000 french forces for more then 5 days. So that the rest of the austrian army could reach a better defensive zone. The success was finally supported through french troops taking a small path behind the fort. Therefore you somethimes also can find the term austrian termophyles for this fight. Andreas Quote
Fordo Posted May 16, 2007 Posted May 16, 2007 That's a cool army with decals nice job, will you make scene's with the Austrian's too? Quote
woody64 Posted May 17, 2007 Author Posted May 17, 2007 That's a cool army with decals nice job, will you make scene's with the Austrian's too? In the pictures on brickshelf there are already some Austrians. But I don't have brown torsos therefore they don't look correct at the moment. The existing Austrian army you can find under: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/woody64/...onic/Austrians/ Andreas Quote
Eurobricks Emperor Bonaparte Posted May 23, 2007 Eurobricks Emperor Posted May 23, 2007 Austrian Chevauleger I've added all the torso's of this thread in the library (those that were still missing). Just to be certain, the one above is an Austrian Light Cavalry uniform? Quote

woody64 Posted October 14, 2007 Author Posted October 14, 2007 (edited) Yes Very nice army eventually I will get to making an Austrian army. Since Bonaparte has raised a lot of new troops, we have to be prepared: The troops now consist of: - a regiment of light infantry (Tyrolian Jaegers) - a regiment of German/Hungarian Infantry - a gun train with train staff, and artillery crew using the "Wurmsitz" - a regiment of unmounted light dragoons - an escort of mounted light dragoons soon expected: - cuirassiers - hussars - dragoons More you can see on: Brickshelf Andreas Edited October 14, 2007 by woody64 Quote
