kinggregus Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 Hello Everyone, I am pleased to share with you the second MOC I ever made: The Union Soldiers Headquarters. PIctures courtesy of my wife: Main by Kinggregus, on Flickr The MOC was inspired by the comic strip "The Blue Coats" (In French; les Tuniques Bleues) and more specifically this picture: Les Tuniques Bleues by Kinggregus, on Flickr Here are two views from different angles: Back by Kinggregus, on Flickr Back 2 by Kinggregus, on Flickr This picture taken from above can prove to be more explicit in showing how the buildings are positionned. I learned how to make different angles. (picture courtesy of my wife who had to stand on a chair for this): Overview by Kinggregus, on Flickr Comments which would help me improve my next MOC are more than welcome. Thanks in advance Quote
lord raphael Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 Wow.Good work everything matches the same place as in the picture. Can you so us a closeup on the tent As it looks very detailed. The campfire is my favourite bit of the moc after the tent. [Comments which would help me improve my next MOC are more than welcome.]That will not be needed as nothing and nobody could improve this moc. Quote
songwm Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 Awesome! I really like overall feel, it's very close to the comic! Quote
mpoh98 Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 This is very nice! The angle of the headquarters is fantastic! Quote
KeepLeft Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 I like the tent technique, something to copy. Quote
meyerc13 Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 I love the SNOT walls on the cabin... it is so well done that I almost forgot that the palisade bricks are normally vertical and not horizontal. I also love that tent, very well done given the limitations of building in bricks and plates. Not to mention, the little details like the soldier fishing help to pull the viewer into the scene, when I saw that I wondered if he had a big fish on the line or a snagged line, since he seems to be smiling I hope he is about to land a whopper of a fish. greg3 Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 Great looking scene! The tent is especially nicely done and the cabin looks great too. Nice work!! Quote
kinggregus Posted March 9, 2014 Author Posted March 9, 2014 Sorry for not responding earlier. As I am not the one taking the picture and I had been away for a long while, I could not really respond adequately. First and foremost, thank you very much for all the praises, this is really encouraging, as I am just starting MOCing again. For those who wanted more details about how the tents are made, here are some close up pictures. The build of these is fairly straightforward. Gunman Posted March 9, 2014 Posted March 9, 2014 Very beautiful moc there my friend. Nice angled buildings Quote
tedbeard Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 That is a great tent design and a clever way to mount it in the scene. Quote
