Timento Posted July 13, 2007 Posted July 13, 2007 Seeing as how Czech is pronounced "check" (at least that's what i've heard, i may be wrong), i would guess that "Czapka" is pronounced "Chap-ka" with long a's. I'm proabably wrong, but thats my best guess. Yup, I second that. If it's a Czech word, it's pronounced like that. I've just got back from a trip in the Czech Republic, btw ;-) Quote
Mosana Posted July 14, 2007 Author Posted July 14, 2007 I'm pretty sure it's a Polish word. On a different note, I'm going to be gone for a month. I can do requests when I return. Quote
Timento Posted July 14, 2007 Posted July 14, 2007 I'm pretty sure it's a Polish word. On a different note, I'm going to be gone for a month. I can do requests when I return. Well I just asked my brother who is going to be studying Polish next year. You were right, he said it's a Polish word but is still pronounced "Chapka". I think I've made a mistake though Czapka couldn't be a Czech word at all. Quote
Mosana Posted August 8, 2007 Author Posted August 8, 2007 (edited) some updates Band of the Old Guard Drummer: Drum-major (my 200th torso): Oboist/Bandmaster: Flotist: Bass drummer: Cymbalist: Also, I've made a Maj.com gallery for the old photos I've collected on the internet, and it's now in my signature. Eurobricks Emperor Bonaparte Posted August 8, 2007 Eurobricks Emperor Posted August 8, 2007 These are pretty detailed. Especially the first 2 contain lots of small details. It's interesting to have these "musical" uniforms. I'm sure they will appear in some armies. Congrats with making your 200th torso! Quote
El Bucanero Posted August 8, 2007 Posted August 8, 2007 Very detailed, Mr Mosana, good job! Where should they be put under? Mr Tiber Quote

Mosana Posted August 11, 2007 Author Posted August 11, 2007 Small update: Ansbach-Bayreuth Dragoons officer: Ansbach-Bayreuth Dragoons trooper: This is a fairly obscure unit, but I was inspired to make bodies for them after reading about their history. At the Battle of Hohenfriedberg, the unit captured 67 (!) enemy standards, and Frederick the Great composed the famous "Hohenfriedberger March" for them to play. Quote
El Bucanero Posted August 12, 2007 Posted August 12, 2007 Those are very nice! But there's something I need to know, are they Prussian or Austrian? Mr Tiber Quote
Eurobricks Emperor Bonaparte Posted August 12, 2007 Eurobricks Emperor Posted August 12, 2007 But there's something I need to know, are they Prussian or Austrian? Since Mosana mentioned Frederick the Great they will be Prussian. Quote
Mosana Posted August 12, 2007 Author Posted August 12, 2007 Yeah, they're Prussian troops for the War of the Austrian Succession. Quote
El Bucanero Posted August 12, 2007 Posted August 12, 2007 Ah, I see, the only Napoleonic names I know are Napoleon Bonaparte, Horatio Nelson and the Duke of Wellington... Mr Tiber Quote
Eurobricks Emperor Bonaparte Posted August 12, 2007 Eurobricks Emperor Posted August 12, 2007 Ah, I see, the only Napoleonic names I know are Napoleon Bonaparte, Horatio Nelson and the Duke of Wellington...Mr Tiber Frederick the Great of Prussia was already dead when Napoleon was born. However, Napoleon deeply admired Frederick and even visited his grave after he conquered Prussia. History ON ;-) Quote

History ON ;-) Then that's one thing both Napoleon and I have done! I visited Sanssouci in April and saw his grave. Also, on that note, I think I'll do Prussia for the 7 Years' War next. Age of Empires 3 is inaccurate in a wide variety of ways, but 'm not bothered much. I'd play Cossacks II if I want historical accuracy. Quote

El Bucanero Posted August 16, 2007 Posted August 16, 2007 They've been added to the library! Mr Mosana, would you be able to make a master and commander torso please? Like the clothes Jack Aubrey wares? It would be highly appreciated! Mr Tiber Quote
